Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 211: Volume 4 Chapter 8 Caught - Part 2

People were busy with tension in the air, the eyes of the international community were focused, and the two major camps were intensifying their preparations for war while arguing persistently. The generals of the Gazalin Empire and the Leray Federation were step by step formulating and implementing battle plans. Liebgoet and Russell were commanding armies that originally did not belong to them to counter each other. The Gazalin Nobles were contacting, discussing, observing, and judging each other. Some confident or forced nobles began to take sides; they had to choose a camp. This choice was cruel; after the dust settled, some old nobles would fall, and some new nobles would rise to replace them. The opposition parties of the Federation began their activities. The more democratic the country, the more different voices would emerge. Every voice could not be ignored, especially the voices for peace and neutrality in this country at this moment!

When everything began to appear chaotic and intense with the Leray Federation Army’s encirclement of East Valley City and advance on the Lavos Plain, the unfortunate Tian Xingjian did not escape prison despite a slap in the face. As expected, Bruce, controlled by the Gazalin Royal Investigation Bureau, sent Fatty to Abnosk Prison, from which no one could walk out alive without a trial in the Royal Supreme Court or a special pardon signed by James.

The arrest took place at night. A large contingent of Royal Guards in Royal Investigation Bureau uniforms surrounded Fatty’s residence at the Holy Knight Mecha Company. After two Investigation Bureau officers announced the arrest warrant to Fatty, they forcibly pushed him into a car. Fatty was convicted within two hours at the Investigation Bureau and swiftly sent to Abnosk Prison. This series of actions triggered chaos. Reinhardt, who was busy coordinating the suppression of the Freedom Front, couldn’t make the Mythical Army react in time.

When Christina received the news of Fatty’s arrest, she immediately called George. What followed left Christina at a loss. George took no action for two hours, and only after Fatty was imprisoned did George start to move. He first found Bruce, demanding Fatty’s immediate release. Then, the Royal Court Chief Judge, the Investigation Bureau Director, and the two regiment commanders left behind by the Mythical Army all received his call. The entire Gazalin Nobles Circle was shaken that night. The arrest of a minor figure heralded the start of this fraternal war.

Stephen’s approach was more direct. He publicly condemned Bruce’s actions and questioned the Royal Investigation Bureau’s report. The intelligence department under his control immediately began a re-investigation of Fatty. He even called Reinhardt before George, expressing his innocence and shock. The next day, Stephen, with a livid face, furiously confronted Bruce in his office. The two brothers, born of the same parents, had a fierce argument and openly broke off relations. The mecha development of the Mythical Army reached a critical point, and Bruce’s actions at this moment were evidently a stab at Reinhardt. This stab also hurt Stephen. The happiest person in this was, of course, George, who had always tried to bring the Mythical Army to his camp.

Reinhardt remained silent on this matter. A neutral prince acting against a mechanic, with all the data and investigation reports showing that the arrested person was guilty of treason. In this investigation material, the mechanic Zhang Yuan was portrayed as a traitor who had been bribed by the Leray Federation since leaving Gazalin. He accepted military espionage training and carried out several missions, being a true spy. Beneath his honest and naive appearance was an evil heart. He racked his brains to infiltrate the Mythical Army, intending to betray his country for riches and glory. His exposure came from an Investigation Bureau spy operation targeting the Leray Federation three years ago. In that failed mission, Zhang Yuan gained the trust of the Empire’s intelligence organization, but his despicable betrayal led to the arrest of several spies hidden in the Leray Federation. A surviving Investigation Bureau worker recognized him not long ago. After a series of detailed investigations and evidence collection by the Investigation Bureau, they finally caught the fox’s tail. Zhang Yuan would face the Empire’s judgment!

Bruce’s plan and materials were thorough, exonerating Fatty in a short time was impossible. Someone pushed from behind in Fatty’s arrest. Reinhardt wasn’t foolish; he understood well the position the Mythical Army should take at this time. Despite his protection of his own, he was not an impulsive person. Thus, in the eyes of all nobles, Reinhardt seemed to easily accept the facts. Regardless of what the two princes did or what Bruce said, he maintained his silence, as if the matter had nothing to do with him.

Fatty was stripped naked and kept in a disinfection room for an entire hour before being dragged out, half dead. Under the stimulation of a high-voltage electric baton, Fatty quickly put on his prison clothes and followed the guards to his cell.

Fatty was held in cell D2 of Abnosk Prison. The cell was not large, only over twenty square meters, housing five prisoners. Fatty was the sixth in the cell. Seeing a newcomer, the prisoners were somewhat excited. As the guards kicked Fatty in and closed the door, Fatty knew he was in for some suffering. Wearing oversized prison clothes, he looked miniature compared to the burly men with crossed arms in front of him. One strong man lifted Fatty like a chick. Before Fatty could ask anything, he cried with howls and tears flowing down, looking extremely aggrieved.

”Slap!” A slap landed on Fatty’s face, making half his face swell immediately. The burly man sneered coldly, ”Fatty, if I hear you whimper again, I’ll beat you to death!”

Knowing the situation, Fatty immediately fell silent, not even sobbing, with tears in his pitiful eyes staring at the obviously dominating burly man in the cell. Anyone with a heart would feel sorrow seeing his pitiful state. Heaven knows how this poor, innocent Fatty ended up in prison! Is there still justice in this world?

The burly man touched his bald head and with a little force in his right hand, threw Fatty to the ground. Sitting lavishly on the bed, he stared viciously at the trembling Fatty until he collapsed like a pile of rotten meat. Only then did he slowly ask, ”Tell me, how did you end up here?”

At the mention of this, Fatty’s tears flowed like a flood, rolling and crawling as he hugged the bald man’s leg, crying wretchedly, ”I’m innocent, innocent! Please, I’m really innocent, let me out, I beg you.” This clueless fool made the nearby prisoners laugh. The bald man kicked Fatty somersaulting, annoyed, ”Stupid Fatty, are you messing with me on purpose?”
