Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Ivy Sherwood had been staying up late the past two days, doing nothing but working and reading.

Zane Linton had also sent over the book he mentioned last time. Ivy stayed up all night and finished it quickly. ’Are these notes from Zane? They’re so clear, and so insightful.’

Ivy had some money on hand, so she decided to try her hand at investing.

She didn’t know much about it, but success in many things only came after repeated failures. Practice was always more important than theory.

However, ever since that day, she’d been feeling dizzy with a hoarse throat, and it just wasn’t getting better. Ivy figured she had really caught a cold.

The medicine didn’t seem to help, and she felt like she was running a fever, so Ivy had no choice but to go to the hospital.

After getting an IV drip and a bunch of new prescriptions from the doctor, Ivy was finally ready to leave.

That’s when she saw a familiar figure, laughing and talking with another man as they headed upstairs.

’Isn’t that Anna Nash?’ Even though she was wearing a mask and a hat to keep a low profile, Ivy recognized her in an instant.

The man beside her wasn’t Silas Blackwood. He looked tall and fierce. ’Since when did Anna have a man like that in her life? The two of them seem to know each other really well.’

’Anna’s at the hospital. Could she be sick?’

But from the looks of it, she didn’t seem sick at all.

Ivy couldn’t resist following them and saw Anna go into the Obstetrics and Gynecology department.

’For Anna to have another man accompany her to OB/GYN, he must be very important to her. Their relationship must be incredibly close.’

’Does Silas Blackwood know about this?’

It looked like Anna was there to pick up a report. She grabbed the lab results and shrieked, ”AH, I’m pregnant! I’m pregnant!”

Anna was ecstatic. She was finally pregnant!

Gideon Gordon wrapped an arm around Anna’s shoulders, pulling her into a half-embrace. ”Congratulations.”

Anna immediately threw her arms around Gideon’s neck and kissed him on the lips.

Not far away, Ivy watched the scene unfold, covering her mouth in shock.

’Didn’t Anna always claim she loved Silas Blackwood, that it had to be him and no one else? And now she’s kissing another man like this.’

’Then this baby of hers... is it Silas’s?’

This was the OB/GYN department, where many women were accompanied by their husbands for check-ups. Seeing Anna’s excitement, anyone would just assume the man with her was her husband and wouldn’t think twice.

Anna was on the verge of tears. Her efforts had finally paid off. She was pregnant! This child had come at the perfect time; it was like a gift from heaven.

’Now, let’s see what tricks Ivy Sherwood has left to marry Silas Blackwood.’

Anna was overjoyed. Her body had really come through for her. She was dying to tell Silas Blackwood the news right this second.

But she couldn’t. She couldn’t just tell him directly. What if the Blackwood Family found out and refused to acknowledge the child? Especially with Caleb Blackwood and his ruthless methods—what if he secretly had her pregnancy terminated?

She had to find the right opportunity to announce it. She couldn’t let her child be killed in the cradle before it was even born.

Ivy watched Anna and the man head downstairs and quickly ducked out of sight.

She had stumbled upon this completely by accident. It was clear now that Anna was very likely planning to use this baby to marry Silas Blackwood.

’Such a golden opportunity... why shouldn’t I use it?’

A plan suddenly formed in Ivy’s mind. Since Anna wanted to marry Silas Blackwood, then naturally, she should help things along.

As for whether Anna had other men on the side, or whether the child was even Silas’s, none of that mattered. It wasn’t like Silas Blackwood was a good person anyway; he had a whole harem of women out there.

’Those two are a match made in heaven.’

Besides, those two had plotted against her so many times. She was just helping Anna fulfill her dream, so she felt no guilt whatsoever.

As Anna came down from upstairs, Ivy approached from the side, pretending to be very weak. Upon seeing Anna, she feigned surprise. ”Anna? What are you doing here?”

Anna hadn’t expected to run into Ivy here. ”What are *you* doing here?”

”It’s not like your family owns the hospital. It’s none of your business why I’m here.” Ivy’s voice was still just as hoarse, and it hurt her throat to speak.

Anna bit her lip. Ivy’s words were as nasty as ever, but Anna was in a good mood and decided not to stoop to her level.

Listening to Ivy’s voice, it sounded like she had a cold. And looking at the bag of medicine in Ivy’s hand and the bandage on the back of her other hand, it seemed she’d had an IV drip. She must have come to the hospital for a cold.

’Looks like it was just a coincidence. She wasn’t following me.’

”Anna, you were the one who set me up last time, weren’t you? Hiring someone to take me to a hotel room. Heh, how stupid.”

The mention of this made Anna angry. She still had no idea why Ivy hadn’t been there, why the room had been empty.

”I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

”It’s fine if you don’t understand. Anna, I want you to apologize to me. In front of the media. Apologize to me in front of the whole world. Otherwise, I’ll go register my marriage with Silas Blackwood tomorrow, and you’ll never have a chance in this lifetime. You’ll be nothing but a mistress.”

”You!” Anna glared at Ivy with a venomous, hateful look. ”Don’t you go too far!”

”Am I the one going too far, or are you? Compared to what you’ve done, this is child’s play. I expect to see your apology online by tomorrow.” Ivy’s eyes glinted with a sharp light.

”Oh, and by the way, make sure your wording is sincere. And please, don’t play the victim, you know, fainting from crying or any of that nonsense. But then again, you’re already at the hospital, so your body can’t be that weak, right? You have to hold it together. Don’t you dare faint in front of the media, or I’ll really look down on you.”

With that, Ivy strode away.

Ivy’s words, however, had given Anna an idea. ’The media... fainting?’

’That’s it, I have a plan!’

She knew exactly how to announce the news in a way that would prevent the Blackwood Family from touching her!

Not far away, the departing Ivy had hidden herself. When she saw the smile on Anna’s face, she knew her words had hit their mark.

’I hope Anna doesn’t disappoint me.’

「...」

After returning home, Ivy took her medicine but still felt drained. Overcome with drowsiness, she lay down on her bed and groggily fell asleep.

She didn’t wake up until her phone started ringing.

In a daze, Ivy reached out and grabbed her phone.

Seeing it was Zane Linton’s number, she answered. ”Mr. Linton.”

Her voice was still off, and she wasn’t fully awake.

”Miss Sherwood, are you unwell?” Zane Linton noticed it immediately.

”No, no. Was there something you needed, Mr. Linton?” Ivy sat up, clutching the blanket, trying to make her voice sound more normal.

”It’s nothing major. I just wanted to inform you that the share transfer is nearly complete, Miss Sherwood.”

”Okay, thank you, Mr. Linton. I’ll have to treat you to a meal sometime!”

”You’re too kind.”

Zane Linton quickly ended the call. He had been on speakerphone, and the man beside him had heard everything.

”She’s sick?” Quentin Blackwood frowned. He had heard that something was wrong with Ivy Sherwood’s voice.

Zane Linton said, ”It certainly sounds like it.”

”I actually just called Miss Sherwood’s company. Her assistant said she didn’t come in today. I’m not sure how she’s doing now.” As he spoke, Zane watched Quentin Blackwood’s expression.
