The Strongest Urban Son-in-law

Chapter 38: Chapter 36 War God Hits a Snag

After hearing Lin Shiyu’s words, everyone tactfully nodded and then left the place.

Ye Feng and Lin Shiyu walked together into Zhao Ziming’s office. Lin Shiyu’s face showed anger, ”Ye Feng, do you know how much effort I put into getting that piece of land? Now, because of your influence, the Liu Family has gone bankrupt and the land has fallen into government hands, making it even harder for us to acquire.”

Ye Feng looked relaxed, ”It’s just a piece of land, what is there to worry about? Now that it’s in the government’s hands, it’s actually easier to obtain.”

After hearing Ye Feng’s words, Lin Shiyu became even angrier, ”Ye Feng, you don’t understand at all! Now that the land belongs to the government, the only way to get it is if Mr. Zhao, who manages the land, agrees to sell it to us. Otherwise, we can only participate in a bidding war with several other companies.

Once the bidding starts, not only the Wan Family and Li Family but three other families will surely join in. The price we’ll have to pay will far exceed the current one. Do you even realize that?”

Ye Feng confidently said, ”Mr. Zhao, right? No worries, I’ll just have Mr. Zhao sell the land to you at a cheap price, won’t I?”

”Sell it to us cheaply just because you say so?” Lin Shiyu scoffed at Ye Feng, ”Ye Feng, I know you have some status in the Southern Border, but you’re a warrior from the Southern Border and Mr. Zhao is from a different department—one is civil and the other is military. How can they be the same? Why would he listen to you?”

Ye Feng shook his head, ”He does have to listen to me, nobody in Dragon Country can disregard my face!”

”What a joke!” Lin Shiyu sneered coldly, ”Who do you think you are? The supreme commander of the Southern Border? Why should anyone give you face?”

Ye Feng shook his head, not bothering to explain, ”In any case, I will secure that land for you.”

”Hmph! Fine, I’ll give you three days. I want to see how you’ll take the land away from me!” Lin Shiyu huffed and then left the room.

After Lin Shiyu had left, Zhao Ziming and Zheng Yonggang came in, looking puzzled. Zheng Yonggang asked, ”Mr. Ye, what happened?”

Ye Feng asked, ”Zheng Yonggang, do you know Mr. Zhao who manages the land in Lin Tian City?”

After hearing Ye Feng’s question, Zheng Yonggang nodded, ”Of course, I know him. Zhao Wenbin, a man of integrity who managed Lin Tian City quite well over these years!”

Ye Feng nodded, ”Now that the Liu family is bankrupt, the land that the Lin Group wanted is under his management. Go tell him that the Liu family had already agreed previously to sell the land to the Lin Group, and have him sell the land to the Lin Group for the original price.”

Upon hearing Ye Feng’s words, Zheng Yonggang nodded, ”No problem, I will go find Zhao Wenbin right away. We’ve had good relations in the past, and he should agree!”

With that, Zheng Yonggang left while Ye Feng leisurely played chess with Zhao Ziming in the office, drank tea, and soon it was noon.

”It’s almost time for lunch, why hasn’t Brother Zheng returned yet?” Zhao Ziming’s eyes showed doubt.

As soon as he finished speaking, the door was pushed open.

Zheng Yonggang walked in, looking dejected, seeming to have encountered trouble.

”How did it go?” Ye Feng asked lightly.

Zheng Yonggang shook his head helplessly, ”It failed. He said that all procedures for that piece of land are still being processed, and he has no intention of selling to anyone for the time being. If he decides to hold a bidding, he said Mr. Lin should participate in the bid; if successful, the land would naturally be given to Mr. Lin.”

Ye Feng nodded, maintaining his composure. Although Zheng Yonggang, who retired and moved to Lin Tian City, was a well-known figure there, he was essentially a businessman, and Zhao Wenbin naturally had no fear of him.

The last thing the government employees fear is businessmen, who must always act according to the whims of government officials.

At this point, Ye Feng picked up his phone and called Liu Mu.

”Liu Mu, go find Zhao Wenbin, the one managing land in Lin Tian City, and have him sell the Golden Dragon Group’s land to the Lin Company!” Ye Feng said and then hung up the phone.

Now, with Ye Feng and several other elder statesmen from the Southern Border not around, Liu Mu was the highest leader in the Southern Border.

Zhao Wenbin might not respect Zheng Yonggang, but Ye Feng did not believe that he would disregard Liu Mu.

Ye Feng waited patiently, confident that with Liu Mu personally involved, Zhao Wenbin would surely sell the land to the Lin Company!

However, this time Ye Feng’s waiting was extraordinarily long; usually, whatever task Ye Feng sent Liu Mu to perform, it would be done within fifteen minutes, but now twenty minutes had passed, and Liu Mu still hadn’t called back.

At this moment, Zhao Ziming had already brought lunch back from Lin Company’s cafeteria, and Liu Mu still hadn’t returned the call.

Soon, half an hour had passed, and finally, Liu Mu’s call came through.

Ye Feng, still maintaining his usual calm, answered the call.

”Heavenly Monarch, it failed. Zhao Wenbin refused!” Liu Mu’s helpless voice came from the other end of the phone.

”Oh? He actually refused—even to give face to you, Zhao Wenbin?” Finally, a look of surprise appeared on Ye Feng’s face.

Ye Feng was confident; in the whole Dragon Country, no more than thirty people would dare not respect Liu Mu. That Zhao Wenbin actually refused was a complete surprise to Ye Feng.

”Check for me, look into this Zhao Wenbin’s past few years, see if there are any blemishes. If I find out he has any personal agendas, he can forget about keeping his position!” Ye Feng’s tone turned cold.

Liu Mu was quite helpless, ”Heavenly Monarch, the reason I hadn’t called you back until now is because I already checked. Zhao Wenbin is incredibly clean; having served as an official for thirty years without a blemish. That’s why he dared not give me face.

He said he needs to consider the land’s destiny carefully and won’t sell it for now. He told the Lin Company to await news, and even I cannot use my authority to coerce him into any action!”

”Very well...I understand. You go back to your tasks!” After this, Ye Feng hung up the phone, his expression darkening.

He hadn’t expected that Zhao Wenbin would be so unblemished. In this case, even Ye Feng couldn’t unjustifiably dismiss Zhao Wenbin.
