The Strongest Urban Son-in-law

Chapter 20: Chapter 18 I Will Repay

But the moment Zhang Xin saw Lin Shiyu, the smile on his face instantly vanished, replaced by a cold expression.

Because Lin Shiyu was not alone; a young man was accompanying him.

Zhang Xin forced a smile upon sighting Lin Shiyu, ”Shiyu, you’ve finally come...”

”Mhm~~” Lin Shiyu responded indifferently with a single sound.

Zhang Xin was clearly dissatisfied with Lin Shiyu’s attitude, yet he wasn’t too concerned. Zhang Xin had been pursuing Lin Shiyu for a while, and Lin Shiyu’s demeanor had always been the same; Zhang Xin had grown accustomed to it.

”Shiyu, who is this?” Zhang Xin curiously eyed Ye Feng, a flash of hostility glinting in his gaze.

”My bodyguard!” Lin Shiyu answered tersely.

”Ah, a bodyguard!” Realization dawned on Zhang Xin, who then looked at Ye Feng disdainfully, not taking him seriously at all.

Lin Shiyu turned to Liu Guixiang and asked anxiously, ”Mom, are you okay?”

Liu Guixiang shook her head, ”I’m fine. It’s just a shortage of money; they wouldn’t really do anything to me, right? Did you bring the money?”

Lin Shiyu nodded, ”I’ve brought it!”

Then Lin Shiyu took a bank card out of her bag and handed it over to Zhang Xin, ”Zhang Xin, I’ve already transferred sixty million into this card, the password is six sixes.”

Zhang Xin smiled slightly, nodded, and then pocketed the bank card.

Lin Shiyu looked toward Liu Guixiang, ”Mom, let’s go...”

”Wait, you can’t leave yet!” Just at that moment, Zhang Xin stopped Lin Shiyu and her company.

Lin Shiyu frowned, ”Zhang Xin, I’ve already helped my mom pay you back. Are you trying to detain us by force?”

Zhang Xin shook his head, speaking in gentle tones, ”No, no, no. Shiyu, sixty million is not nearly enough to settle the debt. Your mother owes much more than just sixty million!”

Liu Guixiang grew panicked, ”Zhang Xin, didn’t we agree that once I give you sixty million, you would let me go?”

Zhang Xin sighed helplessly, ”Auntie, you know why I can’t let you go. These past two years, you’ve come here to gamble frequently, losing tens of millions at times, and several million at others. Altogether, you’ve borrowed one hundred and ninety million from us. With the minimum interest rate, you owe two hundred million.

”Since Shiyu is here today, let’s settle the whole amount. Otherwise, I really don’t know when I will be able to collect it...”

”Two hundred million!” Hearing this number, Lin Shiyu was taken aback, not expecting Liu Guixiang to be in so much debt.

”Shiyu, here are all of your mother’s statements. I’ve prepared them, and the interest charged is the minimum. Take a look for yourself; I’m not deceiving you!” Saying this, Zhang Xin produced a stack of statements.

After Lin Shiyu verified them, she was completely shocked, angrily looking at Liu Guixiang, ”Mom, how could you be missing so much money!”

Liu Guixiang showed no remorse, ”Are you questioning me? I am your mother! Your father and grandfather have so much money, and now it’s all left to you. What’s wrong if you help me pay back a little? You don’t understand, I have few friends, and not much to do usually; it’s just a little hobby of mine. So what if I play a bit? From now on, I can just stop gambling!”

”Mom...” Lin Shiyu was so frustrated, she didn’t know what to do.

Zhang Xin spoke smoothly, ”Shiyu, stop arguing for now; let’s focus on how to repay the debt...”

Lin Shiyu, with a hint of shame, said, ”Young Master Zhang, I’m sorry, a hundred and forty million is no small sum; I can’t come up with that amount suddenly. How about you give me three days? I will definitely repay the money in three days!”

”No way!” Zhang Xin flatly refused, ”Previously your aunt promised to pay back within three days, and those three days turned to three days again, and now two years have passed. I have lost all trust in you. The money must be paid today, otherwise, I will go to Sir Lin!”

”Don’t!” As soon as Liu Guixiang heard about Sir Lin, she screamed in terror, her composure giving way to sheer panic, and soon tears began flowing from her eyes.

With pleading eyes, Liu Guixiang looked at Lin Shiyu, ”Shiyu, find a way to help me out. I am your mother; do you really want to watch me being driven out of the Lin Family by your grandfather?”

Lin Shiyu felt helpless. Though Lin Zhen had promised to leave the entire Lin Family’s assets to Ye Feng and Lin Shiyu,

the Ye Family’s assets were immense and couldn’t be transferred to them immediately. The funds Lin Shiyu could access were very limited.

Lin Shiyu looked at Zhang Xin, ”Young Master Zhang, couldn’t you give us two days?”

Zhang Xin’s eyes showed unwavering resolve, leaving no room for change, ”Of course not! To be honest, I’ve already given your aunt a grace period of two years at our casino. I’ve given plenty of time, and I can’t give any more!”

”But I can’t come up with that much money in such short notice...” Lin Shiyu felt an oncoming headache.

If she asked Lin Jianguo or Lin Zhen for help, then Liu Guixiang’s gambling would definitely become known.

Lin Shiyu couldn’t bear to see her mother thrown out by her grandfather. Suddenly, she felt utterly overwhelmed.

Seeing Lin Shiyu’s desperation, Zhang Xin smiled knowingly, the expression of someone whose scheme had succeeded.

”Actually, there’s another way. You wouldn’t have to repay the debt...” Zhang Xin stroked his chin, evaluating Lin Shiyu.

”Oh, what way?” Before Lin Shiyu could respond, Liu Guixiang eagerly interjected.

”Let me repay this money!” But before Zhang Xin could speak, Ye Feng next to them broke in.

”What!” Lin Shiyu was stunned, looking at Ye Feng with confusion. Ye Feng, a retired warrior, could at most have a demobilization fee of a hundred thousand or slightly more; how could he possibly repay a huge sum of a hundred and forty million?

”Get out!” Liu Guixiang erupted in fury, glaring at Ye Feng, ”What are you, joking with us? Do you know how much money that is? A hundred and forty million! Don’t fool yourself, have a look in the mirror and see what you are, then say if you can repay it. With what will you repay?”

Hearing Liu Guixiang’s angry tirade, Zhang Xin couldn’t be bothered to scold Ye Feng for meddling; Liu Guixiang was there to do it.

”Ye Feng, stop messing around. Where would you get a hundred and forty million from? You’re here to ensure our safety—not to intervene in the repayment,” said Lin Shiyu, her brows furrowed.

Lin Shiyu had called Ye Feng to protect her and her daughter’s safety; the matter of repaying the debt had never crossed her mind to involve Ye Feng.
