The Strongest Urban Son-in-law

Chapter 11: Chapter 9: 10 Minutes

Feng shook his head helplessly, looking at Lin Shiyu, ”Lin Shiyu, Sir Lin Zhen just recovered from a serious illness, so let’s not disturb him with this. I can handle such a small matter myself.”

As the words fell, Lin Shiyu didn’t pay attention to Feng at all. Instead, she dialed the phone number and shot Feng a fierce glare.

Meanwhile, within the Lin Family Garden, Lin Zhen and an elder in a brown Zhongshan suit, who was about his age, were leisurely playing a game of chess.

That elder was none other than the current helmsman of the Wan Family, as well as the father of Wan Tianhua, Wan Shanhai.

Wan Shanhai looked at Lin Zhen, whose chess moves were incredibly clear, and exclaimed with admiration, ”I tell you, Old Lin, you really shock me. Last time I visited, you were half-stepped through the Ghost Gate, and now you are so energetic. Even seeing it with my own eyes, I still find it hard to believe!”

Lin Zhen laughed heartily, ”Heaven doesn’t want me yet. It wants me to keep competing with you, old man, for a few more decades. No choice!”

Just at that moment, Lin Zhen’s phone rang.

”Grandpa!” On the other end of the phone, Lin Shiyu’s anxious voice resounded.

”What’s the matter? Take it slow, tell me...” Sir Lin Zhen asked.

Lin Shiyu briefly recounted the incident’s origin and development. Hearing it was related to the Wan Family, Lin Zhen simply turned on the speakerphone so that Wan Shanhai could listen in.

”Alright, I know. Tell Wan Tianhua to wait a while. This old codger Wan Shanhai is here playing chess with me. I’ll have Wan Shanhai give him some instructions later.” After finishing his words, Lin Zhen hung up the phone.

Wan Shanhai wore a teasing look, ”Lin Zhen, this young man you have here really doesn’t know his own limits, does he? Rest assured, I’ll ask Wan Tianhua to be lenient. We at least need to teach him the fact that arrogance brings misfortune, as surely as clouds bring rain...”

”The one who doesn’t know his own limits is your son, Wan Tianhua!”

Wan Shanhai’s words had barely landed when Lin Zhen loudly scolded, his face turning extremely grim and his attitude becoming very serious.

”Old Lin, what exactly do you mean?” Wan Shanhai frowned deeply, quite displeased.

Lin Zhen was utterly serious, ”Wan Shanhai, I haven’t had many friends in my life, but you count as one. If I mean anything to you, then take this piece of advice: keep your son far away from Feng’s affairs. Feng is not someone your Wan Family can afford to offend.”

Wan Shanhai was stunned, shocked but filled with skepticism, ”How could that be possible? What background could Feng have that’s so formidable? You’re not trying to scare me, are you?”

Lin Zhen’s face turned ashen, ”Do I look like I’m joking to you? Let alone you, even the four grand families of Lin Tian City combined are nothing more than a joke in his presence. Wan Shanhai, you’re my friend, and I don’t want to see you ruin yourself. I assure you on my life that what I’m saying is all true. If you don’t believe me, let Wan Tianhua fend for himself...”

Wan Shanhai was completely shaken, yet he still found it hard to believe, even though he knew Lin Zhen wasn’t trying to scare him.

Lin Zhen was one who knew Feng’s identity all too well. If Feng wanted to, he could expel the Wan Family from their ranks without even trying.

Wan Shanhai looked at Lin Zhen with mixed feelings of doubts and belief, regardless of whether Feng was as terrifying as Lin Zhen described. At the very least, Wan Shanhai was certain that Feng’s background was not simple and certainly no lesser than that of his own Wan Family. While Wan Shanhai did not believe Feng was as fearsome as Lin Zhen had described, he did admit that offending Feng was not a wise decision.

Inside the Wanhua Manor, everyone was waiting for Sir Lin Zhen’s call.

The looks directed at Feng were as if they were looking at an idiot, and almost everyone present felt Feng was doomed for sure today.

At that moment, the phone rang.

”It’s here!”

The anticipation in everyone’s eyes intensified.

Wan Tianhua smiled as he took out his phone, then his expression turned to surprise when he saw the caller ID.

Because the call wasn’t from Lin Zhen, but from his own father, Wan Shanhai.

”Hello, Dad...” Wan Tianhua answered the phone.

”Tianhua, do you have a young man named Feng there?” Wan Shanhai asked over the phone.

”Yes! This brat didn’t give our Wan Family the slightest respect; he’s intent on targeting the young lady from the Zhang Family,” explained Wan Tianhua.

”Don’t involve yourself in this matter, let them sort it out themselves...” Wan Shanhai commanded from the other end.

”What!” Wan Tianhua was stunned, his face filled with disbelief, ”Dad, the Zhang Family is our important partner, how can we just...”

”Enough!” Before Wan Tianhua could finish his words, Wan Shanhai had already interrupted him, ”In short, follow my orders on this one. This young man named Feng is not ordinary; I’ve thought it over, and our Wan Family absolutely must not get involved!”

Wan Shanhai’s tone was very decisive, leaving no room for opposition.

Wan Tianhua had no choice but to nod reluctantly, ”Alright, I understand...”

Inside the Lin Family’s small garden, hearing Wan Shanhai’s words, Lin Zhen helplessly shook his head; clearly, his old friend still didn’t believe him, otherwise he wouldn’t have just instructed Wan Tianhua to stay out of it.

Wan Tianhua turned to Feng, ”Feng, we in the Wan Family will not interfere; you all resolve this matter yourselves!”

”What!”

Upon hearing Wan Tianhua’s words, the banquet hall erupted into turmoil.

Everyone was struck by an unprecedented surprise, Wan Tianhua had actually decided to stay out of this matter!

Ye Feng’s lips curled into a faint smile, ”You’re lucky...”

Had the Wan Family insisted on pursuing the matter, Ye Feng wouldn’t have minded erasing their existence from Lin Tian City.

Yet, Zhang Lin was panicking, ”Mr. Wan, how could you do this? Our Zhang Family is an important business partner of the Lin Family. If you don’t intervene today, your Wan Family will lose us as a partner!”

Wan Tianhua was greatly troubled, ”Zhang Lin, there’s nothing I can do, this is my old man’s order, and I can’t refuse. You better have your father come here. I must obey Sir Lin Zhen’s orders...”

”Damn it!” Zhang Lin shouted furiously, driven to madness, grabbing the phone and glaring at Ye Feng, ”Ye Feng, just you wait, when my father gets here, I’ll make sure you’re dead!”

”Kneel!” Ye Feng commanded coldly.

That voice deeply imprinted itself in Zhang Lin’s heart, making her mind waver.

Ye Feng flicked his wrists, and two chopsticks flew from his hand, striking Zhang Lin’s knees in the blink of an eye.

Immediately, Zhang Lin felt her legs go numb.

With a thump, Zhang Lin knelt before Ye Feng.

Her face flushed with rage, she struggled fiercely, but her legs felt as if they had lost all sensation, utterly powerless to stand.

”You bastard! What the hell did you do to me?” Zhang Lin glared at Ye Feng and roared.

Ye Feng remained calm and collected, ”Bow your head, admit your wrongs, promise to stay three steps away from Lin Shiyu and myself in the future, and I’ll let you regain your feeling.”

Ye Feng’s words were indisputable, and if not followed, he absolutely wouldn’t allow Zhang Lin to rise.

Everyone was shocked by Ye Feng’s move.

Using only a pair of chopsticks, Ye Feng had rendered Zhang Lin immobile.

”How dare you! Today, I, Zhang Wei, am here, and I’ll see who dares to make my daughter bow and apologize!”

At that moment, a loud and rugged voice filled the banquet hall.

A middle-aged man with slicked-back hair, exuding a fierce aura, approached Ye Feng and the others.

Upon seeing the slick-haired middle-aged man, Zhang Lin shouted excitedly, ”Dad, this guy made it so I can’t stand up!”

Behind the slick-haired man were six men, each radiating a murderous intent—clearly men who had taken lives.

That man was Zhang Lin’s father, Zhang Wei.

Zhang Wei had started his life on the streets, engaging in shady business and violence, before starting a jewelry business through illegitimate means.

To this day, Zhang Wei’s Zhang Family had successfully seized control over most of the jewelry market in Linnan Province.

He was known for his domineering and overbearing actions, and upon seeing Zhang Wei, everyone around displayed a deep sense of apprehension.

Zhang Wei glared at Ye Feng like a bloodthirsty beast, ”Little bastard, you dared to lay hands on my daughter, I’ll cripple you today!”

Following that, Zhang Wei’s men drew handguns simultaneously, pointing them at Ye Feng.

The sight of the guns sent everyone into a panic.

Even Lin Shiyu’s complexion turned pale. Although Tian Yefeng had managed to defeat several Lin Family bodyguards previously.

But those bodyguards were always cautious, not wanting to shoot for fear of accidentally hurting Lin Shiyu and the others, thus limiting their actions.

Zhang Wei’s men, ruthless desperados, if they took action, it wasn’t certain Ye Feng would come out on top.

”Mr. Zhang, this is all a misunderstanding. Ye Feng is my grandfather’s honored guest, and he treats him like his own grandson. If you do anything to him, my grandfather won’t let it rest!” Lin Shiyu warned.

”Get the hell out! What does it matter if he’s Lin Zhen’s honored guest? Anyone who messes with my daughter, even the Heavenly King himself, won’t have an easy time,” Zhang Wei shouted angrily, completely disregarding Lin Shiyu’s words.

Ye Feng shook his head, ”No wonder there’s such an idiotic woman, it turns out her father is a fool. This is your last chance. Kneel, apologize, and make a pledge. Otherwise, the Zhang Family will be erased from Lin Tian City within ten minutes!”

...

After hearing Ye Feng’s words, everyone’s expressions were a sight to behold.

”Hahaha,” Zhang Wei burst into laughter, more amused than angry, ”This is too funny, kid, I’ve never seen someone talk such big nonsense. Ten minutes to erase my Zhang Family? Do you think you can? Even the Wan Family, even Lin Zhen of the Lin Family, wouldn’t dare say such a thing!”

Then, Zhang Wei’s laughter vanished, replaced by boundless ferocity, ”You bastard, I’ll give you ten minutes. I want to see how you’ll erase my Zhang Family from Lin Tian City in that time! If my family remains, I’ll make sure you disappear right here and now!”
