Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 193: Chapter 184: Are You There? Lend Me a Billion

”You there? Can I borrow some money?”

Yang Huixian replied in a flash: ”Hm? Who is this?”

She always replied to Lin Chu’s messages in a flash.

But she was quite vigilant. After all, she was an elite career woman. She thought it might be a thief who had stolen Lin Chu’s phone and was trying to scam some money.

After all... how could Lin Chu possibly need to borrow money?

His current assets and wealth were, needless to say, substantial.

Besides, for a chauvinistic man like him, asking a woman for money would be worse than death.

Lin Chu casually replied, acting as if nothing was wrong: ”It’s me. I’ve run into a bit of a situation and need some funds. Can you help me figure something out?”

At her company, Yang Huixian stared at her phone screen, thought for a moment, and then started a video call.

On the video call.

Sure enough, Lin Chu’s face appeared.

”What’s the situation? Tell me the details.”

Her tone was rather formal, her expression a little complicated. Inwardly, she felt a faint sense of disappointment, as if Lin Chu’s halo was starting to crack.

Before this, she’d always felt that men who borrowed money from women were classless. ’What kind of trash are they?’

Any man with even a shred of self-respect wouldn’t do such a thing.

So classless.

And yet, now...

The ”strong man” in her eyes had done something so ”weak.”

It was almost unimaginable.

Lin Chu saw the look in her eyes and smiled, pursing his lips. ”The situation is what it is. I’ve got my eye on an asset, but I’m a bit short on cash. I still need about a billion, so I’m trying to scrape it together from various sources.”

Hm?

Hearing this, Yang Huixian’s gaze froze once again.

’What are you trying to buy?!’

’A billion!’

”I wouldn’t have that much even if you sold me,”

she said with a wry, lingering smile.

A billion was a sum she truly didn’t have. Forget her, even with her father’s wealth, they probably couldn’t come up with it.

Of course, if they liquidated the entire family’s assets, sold everything they owned, took out bank loans, and mortgaged everything like mad, maybe they could barely scrape it together. But... it wouldn’t come to that.

Not even if she were actually married to Lin Chu.

”I’m not asking you to lend me the whole amount. How much do you have?”

Lin Chu asked casually, still grinning.

Yang Huixian quickly ran through her finances. Her available liquid cash was probably around twenty million, but compared to a billion, that was just a drop in the bucket. Besides...

”How about I ask my dad for you?”

She didn’t answer the question directly, probing with a smile.

Her dad had offered before, saying he could lend money interest-free, though the principal would definitely have to be repaid.

That was already a very generous offer, considering their relationship.

”That won’t be necessary. Alright, got it. I’ll figure something else out.”

The smile on Lin Chu’s face remained light and unconcerned; he didn’t seem to think it was a big deal.

This was perfectly normal.

’If anything, that little sliver of hope I had was the real delusion,’ he thought.

Yang Huixian keenly sensed Lin Chu’s withdrawal, a distance that had suddenly appeared between them. She quickly asked, ”I can still help you figure something out! No, wait, what do you need so much money for? What kind of asset costs a billion?”

If his reason was good enough, it wasn’t out of the question.

Of course, the prerequisite for everything was ensuring the principal was secure.

Love is love, and money is money. They were two separate things.

Lin Chu shrugged and smiled. ”Forget it. Let’s not talk about this anymore. I’m not wasting any more time. I’m off to find the money. We’ll talk later.”

And with that, he hung up.

After hanging up, he suddenly felt like a clown.

Ptooey!

’Idiot, what were you thinking?’

...

After ending the video call with Yang Huixian, Lin Chu started another one with Liao Meili.

Oscar Chu was online. His brows were tightly furrowed, his face a mask of sorrow, as if he’d encountered some monumental disaster. Gone was any trace of his usual carefree demeanor.

”What’s wrong?”

Liao Meili immediately asked with concern, putting down what she was doing and closing her office door. Her burning gaze was fixed on Lin Chu.

Lin Chu said, ”I’ve run into a bit of trouble. I might need to raise some capital. I was wondering if you could help.”

Hearing this, Liao Meili was also momentarily stunned.

She never expected Lin Chu to suddenly say something like that.

She lightly licked her lips. ”I... My parents haven’t retired yet, and I don’t have much money myself. But I can do my best. I’ll call my dad later and ask him.”

”What’s it for, specifically?”

”How much do you need?”

she asked, quite seriously.

A thought suddenly surfaced in her mind—’This isn’t a pig-butchering scam, is it?’

’No, even if it is a pig-butchering scam, isn’t the hook coming a little too soon?’

’We’ve only just started seeing each other, not even for a month.’

’We haven’t even met that many times.’

Lin Chu thought for a moment. ”The specific reason, let’s just say... it’s to pay back a bank loan. As for the amount, I need about a billion.”

”Wow! That’s so much!”

”You... so the reason is short-term financing, a bridge loan. Okay, I’ll ask my dad. I’m hanging up now, I’ll get back to you.”

Liao Meili was utterly shocked, but her reply was still quite ”loyal.”

A billion was an enormous sum of money.

But she also felt that even if she told her dad, there wasn’t much hope.

Lin Chu pursed his lips nonchalantly.

To be fair, Liao Meili was a few years younger, and she possessed more of that quality that could move a person’s heart.

「About ten minutes later.」

She called back quickly, looking very dejected. ”I’m sorry, my dad refused. He even thinks you’re trying to scam me.”

Lin Chu looked at her calmly. ”Do you think I’m scamming you?”

Liao Meili took a deep breath. ”No, of course not! You must have run into real trouble. So... what’s your plan now? I’m so sorry I couldn’t help you.”

”It’s fine. The plan is to find the money. This was always my problem to solve anyway. Alright, let’s leave it at that. I’m hanging up.”

Lin Chu said, his tone deliberately light.

”Hey, wait! I... How about I help you with a portion of it? I can go beg my dad again. Maybe I can borrow twenty million... US Dollars? I think that’s the most I can do. Just give me a little time, okay?”

”But, knowing my dad’s personality, he’ll definitely want to involve lawyers, and he’ll charge interest... I can’t do anything about that.”

Liao Meili could feel Lin Chu’s stress and started to get anxious herself, doing her best to explain.

Lin Chu smiled. ”Forget it. It’s okay, I don’t want to make things difficult for you. I’ve got other things to do, so I’m hanging up now.”

”So... are we still going to Disney?”

she asked, sounding a little pitiful.

Lin Chu couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Even at a time like this, she was still thinking about going to Disney.

’You’re pretty carefree, aren’t you?’

He could see that the reason she was willing to lend money was mainly that she—or rather, her family—wasn’t short on it, so they didn’t see it as a huge deal.

”Let’s not go for now, okay? Maybe next time?”

Lin Chu said with a gentle smile, his stance softening a bit.

She pursed her lips and sighed deeply, unable to hide her disappointment. Her voice was low as she said, ”Okay, then. I won’t bother you. You go do what you need to.”

Then she took the initiative and hung up the phone.

After the chat ended, Lin Chu shook his head with a small smile and lit a cigarette. His mood hadn’t improved, nor did he feel the relief of having resolved his ”Chaotic Scene.”

Of course, there was no doubt that what he’d done was a pretty shitty thing—testing human nature with an extreme situation.

Who could withstand a test like that?

But Lin Chu himself felt that this kind of test was quite necessary.

’Damn, enjoying the good times together? Anyone can do that.’

’And what man can guarantee he’ll never run into trouble in his life?’

’What if he does?’

’Who’s going to be there to help you shoulder the burden?’

Between Yang Huixian and Liao Meili, one had a bad attitude and was an extreme worshipper of strength, while the other lacked capability and couldn’t handle adversity.

Neither of them was quite right.

If this was a test with a score, neither would get a passing grade of sixty. Liao Meili might score a little higher, seeing as she was younger.

Tsk.

So this was all there was to the ”rich, pale, and beautiful” women.

’In this dazzling world, as long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.’

...

”Drinks tonight!”

Lin Chu sent a message to Wang Zhefei, Lu Ming, Li Kai, and Zhang Peng respectively.

Old Liu was out; he was live-streaming in Yang City.

The guys all quickly agreed.

Wang Zhefei replied, ”Excuse me, but if we’re going to a bar, can I bring my Jian Zhan tea bowl once used by Emperor Huizong of Song? (smiling with sunglasses emoji)”

Lin Chu: ”Screw you!”
