Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 92: Chapter 91: A Greedy and Lustful Good Person

After lunch.

Lin Chu called Liu Junfeng and told him they were going to an orphanage that afternoon to do a little charity.

Liu Junfeng was stunned to hear their destination. ’What kind of strange idea is this?’

These forgotten corners of society had never been on his radar. After all, a divorced, childless middle-aged man rarely paid attention to such things.

But, since Lin Chu wanted to go, he might as well go along.

For Brother Chu’s sake, one trip wasn’t a big deal.

”Should I make a donation?”

”Just a little something to show support?”

Liu Junfeng asked over the phone. It was the proper thing to do, since they were going anyway.

Hearing this, Lin Chu laughed. ”Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of it.”

’If you have to ask, it means you don’t really want to.’

’If you did, you’d just do it.’

He took a deep breath, hesitated, then explained, ”Alright then. Things are pretty tight for me recently, to be honest.”

”I know. Hey, don’t worry about all that. I’ll bring the money, you bring your heart. That’s all we need,” Lin Chu said decisively.

’It was the kind of thing where you give what you can. No need to force it.’

After hanging up, Lin Chu drove his Yangwang U8 toward the orphanage. The car was loaded with some of the items; the rest would be delivered. He had to go pick up Gu Jiayan first, and the large vehicle would be more convenient.

Lin Chu didn’t tell anyone else at the company about this. It was a personal act, not a corporate one.

They all had their own work to do.

Although doing it in the company’s name might garner some publicity, there was no need.

Seeking fame was, ultimately, for the sake of profit.

And his interests didn’t lie there.

...

Gu Jiayan had said there were over three hundred children there—orphans of various ages, as well as some ”special children” with congenital disabilities, autism, or who were deaf and mute.

This made Lin Chu feel a bit emotional. Fate was indeed unfair, but he didn’t dwell on it. Such is life.

’So what can you do?’

’You just have to keep on living.’

She lived near University Town, in an urban village so dense that cars couldn’t even drive inside. When Lin Chu reached the entrance of the alley, he saw she was already there waiting for him.

She wore jeans and a white T-shirt, her hair in a ponytail, and a canvas bag slung over her shoulder. She had a fresh, makeup-free look.

But she was a natural beauty.

Especially her aura—it was so fresh and pure.

Rolling down the window, Lin Chu smiled. ”Get in!”

She smiled, opened the passenger door, and got in. She glanced at Lin Chu. ”Sorry to trouble you. I could have just taken a taxi.”

Lin Chu waved his hand dismissively without a word, but a certain joke suddenly came to mind.

’If a man is willing to open a car door for a woman, there are two possibilities: either the car is new, or the woman is.’

’Tsk.’

’I’m so crass.’

’Utterly crass.’

The car did a tank turn and headed toward the orphanage.

The cool feature left Gu Jiayan slightly amazed. ’What great technology. It’s a godsend for new drivers.’

But that wasn’t the point. The point was, she was very curious about Lin Chu’s motive for doing all this.

After a moment’s thought, she asked hesitantly, ”President Lin, may I ask you a question?”

Lin Chu replied casually, ”Five hundred yuan a question. Go ahead.”

She was speechless.

’How is it that every other word out of his mouth is about money?’

She suddenly fell silent.

”Hm? Too expensive? You think that’s expensive? That’s the employee price! Given what my time is worth now, tens of thousands of yuan an hour is pretty normal, don’t you think?”

Lin Chu teased with a smile. Of course, the five hundred yuan price was just a joke to shut her up.

In fact, Lin Chu had already guessed what she wanted to ask. It was probably something along the lines of, ”Oh, what made you want to do this?”

’I don’t want to answer that.’

’Just shut up.’

”Normal, perfectly normal.”

Gu Jiayan responded with a helpless tone, maintaining her smile and her silence.

She once again recalled Lin Chu’s self-assessment from the interview—a worldly powerhouse.

’When it’s time to make money, he focuses single-mindedly on making money.’

’And when he has money and wants to donate or do good deeds, he does them with bold extravagance.’

’Perhaps this was a higher state of being.’

’As for his motive, it didn’t seem so important anymore. Judge people by their actions, not their intentions, because if you judged by intentions, no one would be perfect.’

”President Lin, thank you.”

As Gu Jiayan pondered this, she suddenly spoke with a heartfelt smile.

Lin Chu glanced at her, lit a cigarette, and said with a wry smile, ”What are you thanking me for? And how are you going to thank me? By working hard? Or by pledging yourself to me?”

She was speechless.

’Boss, please don’t be like this.’

’I’m freaking out.’

’Seriously.’

Lin Chu shook his head and chuckled, not teasing her any further as he drove on steadily.

...

The orphanage wasn’t far, and they arrived just over ten minutes later.

The orphanage was an old building, probably over thirty years old, situated in a forgotten corner of the city. It housed a group of the city’s marginalized people.

It had a rather forlorn look.

Two small delivery trucks, loaded with the various things he had bought, were already parked at the entrance.

Liu Junfeng was there waiting, leaning against the hood of his old Bentley and smoking a cigarette.

Seeing Lin Chu park, he hurried over, pulled open the door for him, and grinned. ”Brother Chu, you’re here.”

’He still didn’t get it.’

’What the hell were they doing here?’

’But, since he was already here, he might as well see it through.’

”Come on, let’s go inside.”

Gu Jiayan had already called the director inside. A moment later, Lin Chu saw a very thin, middle-aged woman walk out. She looked to be in her fifties, with graying hair and a kind face.

Upon seeing her, Gu Jiayan trotted over quickly.

”Aunt Li, we’re here.”

A smile appeared on Aunt Li’s face as she opened the main gate. ”Please, come in. Thank you, Jiajia. I have you to thank again for this.”

Gu Jiayan had, of course, already told her what was happening. The orphanage naturally had no reason to refuse a donation from a charitable member of the community.

”Don’t mention it. I’ve been looking for a job recently, and he’s my new boss. During my interview, I mentioned this place, and he said he wanted to come and see it.”

”Auntie, there are still a lot of good people in the world,” she said with a beaming smile.

Lin Chu walked over then, a boyish smile on his face. He said politely, ”Aunt Li, hello. My name is Lin Chu. I brought a few things for the children. If there’s anything else you need, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

”This is my friend, Liu Junfeng.”

Liu Junfeng nodded with a smile. At that moment, he was starting to put the pieces together. ’Holy shit, is Brother Chu doing all this to pick up this assistant?’

’You know, it’s actually possible.’

’This young assistant was indeed very innocent, pretty, and kind—the absolute ”good wife and loving mother” type.’

’And it was obvious the assistant had been the one to arrange this whole connection.’

’To make her happy, a man who’s lost his head will do anything.’

’Sigh...’

’Unbelievable.’

’Still, it’s a good thing. Isn’t it better than buying her a handbag or a pile of luxury goods?’

’At least the kids get something tangible out of it.’

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, the three of them went inside while the workers from the trucks outside began unloading the goods.
