Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 386: Chapter 257: Military Uniform_2

The sound of plants shattering and a faint shriek echoed.

Steel, machinery, flames...

Humanity was once again back at the starting line, vying for control over this world.

Everything was flourishing, full of life yet so cruel.

...

”April 5th, calm waters”

”Today the waters were calm, and we were lucky to salvage the data center in one go.”

”April 7th, calm waters”

”The world is vast, I want to go see it.”

Su Huan sat atop the crown pear tree, gazing at the reflective water surface, his voice carrying a hint of warmth, ”Are you sure you don’t want to come with me?”

Standing beside the sturdy branches was a young boy. Compared to when he first arrived at the Iron Mountain Shelter, he had grown taller and his arms more defined, though his face still held a stubborn resemblance to the old man Qi Tieshan.

Xiaodong tugged at his tattered shirt, like a rag, and resolutely said, ”I’m not leaving. Guan Chong is my home. I want to stay here with Grandpa Tieshan and rebuild Guan Chong.”

”Alright.”

A gentle breeze blew through the tree crown, and the emotions in Su Huan’s words seemed to drift away with the wind.

After waiting for a long time, Xiaodong heard no further words and didn’t know what to say.

The young boy stood silently beside Su Huan, gazing at the distant water surface.

As he watched, his gaze gradually fell on the golden pears within the tree crown.

As the sun shifted slightly and the water surface became like a glowing mirror, a flash of lightning flickered from Su Huan’s fingertips.

Turning into fine threads of light, they entwined around the pears on the small pear tree below. With a gentle flick of his finger, he brought back two pears and tossed one to Xiaodong.

The latter caught it in a flurry, staring in shock at the golden pear. He sniffed it twice beneath his nose, swallowed hard, and then tucked it into his pocket.

”Why don’t you eat it?”

Su Huan crunched on his pear.

Xiaodong’s mouth watered at the sight, but he seemed to forget he had a pear in his pocket too.

”Since the world changed, it’s been a long time since I had fruit. I want Grandpa Tieshan to try it, and also Uncle Zhenbang and Uncle Zhendong. They always help me with work, and if there’s any left, I want to take it back for my parents and grandma to try...”

”That one pear might not be enough to share.”

”As long as they can have a taste, it’s good enough.”

Su Huan turned his head, staring straight into his eyes, ”If you had the ability to get more pears, then everyone around you could have one.”

Xiaodong stood there stunned, as if he didn’t understand.

Su Huan, however, didn’t pay him any mind, turned and jumped down from the crown pear tree, and walked straight out, with Shu Wei and the others quickly following.

A trench had been dug around the cultivation chamber to draw in water, allowing it to float in the pool.

This was done specifically to facilitate the installation of the data center.

The process went smoothly, much easier than building the cultivation chamber.

Leaving the cultivation chamber, Su Huan arrived at a simple shed.

Although the train had been repaired, with the temperament of the conductor, he naturally wouldn’t let them idle.

Four thousand five hundred people began round-the-clock synthesis of materials, engaging in other projects, not knowing what they were doing.

They didn’t even have time to think, each work period had them exhausted after thirty hours of follow-the-foreman labor.

No matter how intense the work was, no one was clamoring for a strike or anything.

Seven days ago, one-tenth of the people were executed, thoroughly removing the troublemakers from the group. Although some good people were mistakenly caught, it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing for the armored train.

Though the development of Iron Mountain Shelter might slow down somewhat.

Seeing the conductor enter the shed, several senior crew members hurriedly went to contact him, and soon, Hushuo came over quickly.

”Conductor.”

”Hmm.”

Su Huan responded, his gaze searching through the crowd at work, heading straight towards the Iron Old Man.

Walking, he said, ”Initiate the Guan Chong Station plan.”

Hushuo nodded sternly, ”Should Tide Watching Island be preserved?”

”Replicate the Shun’an Outpost station.”

The Iron Old Man was sitting next to a fallen tree, using a machete to trim branches, as were the others around him, the only sound being the machete chopping the wood.

It seemed as if he sensed Su Huan’s approach, for from afar, the Iron Old Man stood up with his machete.

Su Huan walked right up to about a meter in front of him.

Looking at him covered in woodchips, he said faintly, ”Tomorrow you can return to the Iron Mountain Shelter.”

The Iron Old Man appeared a bit surprised, threw down the machete, and said thanks.

”But the Iron Mountain Shelter will need to be renamed.”

”What name?”

”Armored Train Station 2, Guan Chong Station.”

After Su Huan spoke, the Iron Old Man’s brows relaxed, and he said straightforwardly, ”No problem.”

Su Huan raised an eyebrow, ”Not worried about me taking over your leadership this time?”

For the first time, a don’t-care attitude appeared on the Iron Old Man’s upright face, ”You’re more capable than me; you can support four to five thousand people. If the shelter residents join the armored train, it’ll be a good life.”

Su Huan snorted lightly, ”Sounds good, but work for me first.”

He turned away and walked out of the shed.

”Tell He Jie that I’ll give him one more day to clean up Tide Watching Island before we leave tomorrow.”

Su Huan instructed.

”Yes.”

The secretary responded neatly.

”Has the standard military uniform been designed?”

”A few styles have been made.”

”Let’s go take a look.”

...

The armored train’s tailor shop was in carriage number 5, right next to the purser’s carriage number 4 and storage carriage number 6.

As for further ahead, where the officers lived, they were all in training, and with the tailor shop not open to the public, it was the quietest area for the conductor.

When Su Huan entered, he unexpectedly saw He Jie’s wife Han Qin and Lin Jin there too.

They were comparing a piece of clothing on him.

Seeing Su Huan, Lin Jin’s tired eyes held unconcealable joy.

”Conductor!”

”Hmm, why are you here?”

Su Huan asked, slightly puzzled.

The latter replied tiredly, ”It was supposed to be training, but Captain He told me early on that the training was over, and then... I got dragged here. I can’t remember exactly, my mind’s foggy, spaced out, not sure...”

Seeing Lin Jin’s scattered eyes and slightly incoherent speech, Su Huan waved his hand speechlessly, ”Go back to sleep.”

Lin Jin gratefully fled swiftly.

Little Box glanced at the military uniform in his hand, then at the tall, handsome conductor before him, his eyes slowly brightening.

”Is this the new uniform?”

Su Huan asked.

”Yes, would you like to try it on?”

Little Box asked expectantly.

”Do you have it in women’s sizes?”

”Ah?”

Little Box was momentarily stunned, his expression a bit odd, ”We do, but the sizes aren’t big...”

”Size 168 cm?”

”No problem, the uniforms are generally larger.”

”Bring me two sets.”

Little Box brought over a black and a dark green set, with an odd expression, ”Are you... going to put them on here?”

”Tsk.”

Su Huan raised his eyelid slightly, stepped back, revealing the indifferent Shu Wei behind him.

”They’re for her.”

Little Box immediately let out a sigh of relief, but felt a vague sense of disappointment inside.

”Come with me then.”

”No need, she’ll do it here.”

Su Huan said.

Little Box and Han Qin’s eyes were a bit shocked.

Bai Lu was still pondering the meaning of his words when the giraffe dragged him out.

Shu Wei’s face was slightly pale, her porcelain-white skin dazzling.

”Oh, then we’ll step out.”

Little Box, seeing the giraffe duo’s actions, came to his senses, put down the uniforms, and walked out holding Han Qin’s hand.

The door closed.

Su Huan’s pitch-black gaze fell on the woman.

”Change.”

Shu Wei remained silent, placing the tablet on the table beside her, her fingertips quietly resting on the collar.

This motion had been done many times in front of Su Huan, so it wasn’t so awkward anymore, the slightly formal suit fell to the tabletop.
