Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 385: Chapter 257: Military Uniform

”The abilities of the Third Priest are relatively simple and lack research value, but the abilities of the Second Priest and High Priest have greatly benefited me.”

Mentioning this topic, Director Xu’s eyes flashed with a hint of excitement.

Seeing that there was nothing more for them, the others gradually dispersed after finishing their meal.

Only Yu Jing and Director Xu remained.

After Director Xu finished discussing the research results, Su Huan had a general understanding of the abilities of both.

It was more or less as he had speculated.

The Second Priest is the ”Maker”. First, he used materials extracted from a feline mutant beast on the island, accidentally creating a potion that temporarily enhances physical abilities. Although it had some side effects, the potion did not have any other functions at that time.

Later, he evolved a new ability.

It was precisely Yu Jing’s ”Devour and Reshape”.

Then, by combining ”Pan-energy Erosion” and ”Puppet Strings”, he created the eerie scene of the ”three hundred souls returning”.

This profession has considerable strength but also significant limitations.

He needs to ”plant” his abilities in others’ bodies in advance.

These so-called ”divine stones”, all of which the Second Priest tampered with.

Finally, there’s a necessary condition: the manipulated puppets must be in a state of death, the living won’t work.

The reason the only remaining members under artillery fire were so in pain was that the Second Priest was in the process of killing them.

But this method only works on those whose level is lower than his.

For example, the son of the High Priest, who is also a Tier One Evolver, even after consuming the divine stones, the Second Priest couldn’t handle him and had to use encirclement tactics to take him down, which is why ”Death God” had so many scars.

Yu Jing listened with great interest, ”It’s a pity I wasn’t on site. How effective were those puppets in combat?”

Su Huan thought for a moment, ”Although they weren’t given much opportunity to demonstrate, they were just at the level of puppet strings. Once the master gets distracted, they become sitting ducks, much inferior to your puppets.”

Yu Jing’s phoenix eyes flashed with suspicion, ”The ’Bodhi Dao Tool’ doesn’t include skills related to intelligence, so why do my puppets have a certain degree of autonomous intelligence?”

”Oh, not completely dead?”

A cold gleam flashed in Su Huan’s eyes.

”Impossible.”

”Probably not.”

Both women spoke in unison.

Yu Jing’s probing gaze fell on Shu Wei, who was behind her.

She calmly said, ”It should be related to the intelligent chips implanted in Zhao Kuo’s brain before his death.”

”Implanted?”

Director Xu caught a keyword.

Seeing that Su Huan did not interrupt, Shu Wei continued, ”Zhao Kuo underwent extensive body modifications to reach Tier One, but did not modify his brain. Later, he was selected for Tier Two modification experiments. The process and contents are confidential, but... the brain must have been a focus of the Tier Two modifications.”

Su Huan agreed, ”It’s possible. With my current level of electrical intensity, not just a person’s brain but even a saber-toothed tiger mammoth would be pierced. He took it head-on and still managed to flee. Obviously, there’s something in his brain.”

Yu Jing pondered, ”I haven’t disassembled it, so I’m not too sure about the structure inside his brain...”

Director Xu said, ”In contrast, I am more interested in the experimental details of Black Kite. We could find time to discuss it in my lab.”

Shu Wei, knowing Director Xu’s background, politely declined with a smile.

”Knock, knock.”

Su Huan tapped his index finger lightly on the table, ”Let’s set aside the puppets for now. Have you figured out the High Priest’s abilities?”

Director Xu shook his head, ”I have no leads on this prophecy ability. I tried isolating her, but she could still use her abilities normally. Currently, I can’t find the source of her abilities, and it will take more time.”

”Can’t you also determine how many more times she can use the ability or its accuracy?”

”...No.”

Director Xu said truthfully.

Su Huan did not dwell on this topic and instead continued with the earlier discussion on departmental refinement.

Although it’s difficult for most Evolvers to reach Tier One, for the sake of stable production, each department of the train should have a core ability.

Just like in the Steel Council, most elite soldiers belong to the gunfire spectrum profession.

The train’s database currently stores numerous evolution directions and methods, with Director Xu in charge of updating and entering information.

Which is why he was kept around.

Yu Jing stood up to clear the dishes, while Director Xu accepted the towel handed by Yu Yue to wipe his hands. After smoothing his sideburns, he sat across from the orange cat on the sofa.

The two began a new round of discussions.

From onboard Group Four to the Armed Corps, including the ability orientation of newly accommodated survivors.

They discussed everything, with Yu Jing and Shu Wei adding some information during the conversation.

The main departments’ evolution professions were temporarily determined.

To ensure a diversity of professions on the train, each core department identified two or three professions without setting them in stone, making adjustments based on circumstances.

Director Xu hesitated, ”I understand everything else, but we don’t have a corresponding direction for the subsequent progression of the ’Mechanical Apprentice’ profession. What should we do if there’s a mass promotion of this profession?”

”Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”

Su Huan replied calmly.

The mechanic route must not be abandoned. As the absolute core of the wild spectrum, the mechanic series has shown vibrant vitality and vast potential.

He knew of over a dozen branch professions in this series, excelling in both applicability and practicality.

There are paths for both production and combat.

For the ordinary Scavengers, the popularity of mechanics even surpasses that of the gunfire spectrum.

After everything was discussed, two hours had passed.

The sky outside remained gloomy.

With a rumbling noise, engineering machinery crushed newly sprouted mutant plants, and groups of survivors followed behind the machinery, the plant juices beneath their feet splattering in a radial pattern. With a splash of accelerant, flames burst forth instantly.
