Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 368: Chapter 248: One Toothbrush (Part 2)

An occasional fleeting glance.

Only then could one see glimpses of the battle under the lights.

But no one expected it to be such a gigantic whale!

Qi Zhendong’s pupils shook, and he took a half step back, ”Did we survive this thing last night?”

”It was the conductor who saved us!”

Xiaodong said firmly.

Qi Zhendong instinctively wanted to say something, but saw soldiers holding guns running over in the distance, so he quickly closed his mouth.

Iron Old Man glanced at his son, ”You can doubt your own eyes but those people indeed have the skills, you better behave.”

”According to the previous grouping, Group 29 line up in front of me to immediately proceed with the disassembly and collection task!”

Hearing the soldier’s shout, Iron Old Man took Xiaodong to stand in front of him.

Qi Zhendong looked at the mountain-like giant whale in front of him, suppressing a deep reluctance in his heart.

...

Mongoose was just about to gather his collection group when he heard a soft voice in his ear.

He stopped mid-air and did a somersault forward.

Landed steadily.

”You don’t have to go this time, there is a ceremony on Tide Watching Island, the conductor gave you and Old Wu a chance, the higher the ranking, the better, if you get first place, there are extra rewards.”

A flash of fighting spirit appeared in Mongoose’s eyes, and he saluted with a new military salute.

”Yes!”

The same order was also passed to the combat group’s Old Wu.

After reporting, the latter also stopped his field task, checked with Lao San, unloaded his equipment, and quickly began to move deeper into Tide Watching Island.

And on the long-unchanged task board, a new ”Tide Watching Island Competition” task was added.

But it didn’t cause any ripple in the train.

Only those with the rank could accept tasks, and they were busy as if their feet were on fire, naturally with no mind to pay attention to new tasks.

Due to habit issues, Gao Yuan quickly got this information.

Tong Zizhan: ”...do you think our ranks aren’t high enough?”

Gao Yuan: ”Is there a treasure like the Crown Pear tree on the Tide Watching Island?”

Tong Zizhan rolled his eyes, ”If you have any thoughts about the company-assigned female, you shouldn’t look at this stuff.”

Gao Yuan turned his ring, ”I was thinking, if we pass this information out, would above recall us back?”

Tong Zizhan sighed.

”If you have two subordinates who don’t consume company resources and bring their own rations, allow them to continue to shine and glow on the posts, or let them go back and have a holiday.”

Gao Yuan pondered for a long time.

”So is there really a female?”

...

Yu Yue only informed the concerned individuals and their respective superiors.

Most of the soldiers still need to stay to maintain order.

The armed train seemed crowded, but counting the recently absorbed Armed Corps, there were just over five hundred people, including the combat group and all officers, barely reaching six hundred people.

Now, since the train split in two, only two hundred were left.

Normally, a train field task would have one group executing tasks, one group specifically waiting for support, and one group resting on duty.

But now, managing five thousand survivors, everyone wished they could split themselves in half, and could not care about any regulations.

With the forced intervention of He Jie and other officers, it took twenty minutes to separate the chaotic crowd.

According to different abilities, work was allocated.

Luckily most of the dormitories for the research and manufacturing groups were in the main train, so repair work could proceed quickly.

Inside Carriage No. 12.

Professor Ma was intently staring at a semi-dismantled device.

This thing was somewhat similar to the original Pan-energy communication device, but not only had its size not decreased, it had instead tripled in size.

The originally spacious research space was further compressed by this device.

Precision screwdrivers, hot air guns, multimeters, circlip pliers... and other tools floated in mid-air, like a wall surrounding Professor Ma in the middle.

Near the edge of the carriage, a metal shelf was torn into two segments by a terrifying force.

Various hardware and materials were packed into small boxes, neatly stacked next to the device, convenient for Professor Ma’s use.

”Just about ready, activate it for a test run.” Professor Ma said, taking off his insulation gloves.

Suddenly, he noticed the atmosphere was a bit off.

He looked up and curiously asked, seeing the fully armed students on both sides, ”What are you doing?”

Led by Little Box, the students, one by one, wore bulletproof vests, standing cautiously three meters away.

Little Box’s lip twitched, pointing at the box Professor Ma was sitting on, ”Where did you get that explosives box?”

Professor Ma then realized and said with a laugh, ”There are a lot at the train’s head. I just lacked a chair, and found this thing fitting the height, so I brought one back to sit on. It’s just right, you guys want to try?”

Everyone was silent for a long time.

Little Box sighed, ”Sir, do you know there’s an explosion risk in your experiment?”

Speaking of the experiment, Professor Ma immediately had a serious look, raising two fingers, ”I swear to the God of Science, this time there’s absolutely no explosion risk, this is a communication device calculated and crafted with precision, it can cover an area of twenty square kilometers, even Tide Watching Island before the end of the world could be covered, now there’s no issue at all.”

”The problem is who activates the device.”

Little Box was relentless.

Professor Ma helplessly spread his hands, ”Then I’ll just do it myself.”

”Sir, could you first return that explosives box under your butt to the armory?”

Twenty minutes later.

”This is the Armed Train Deputy Train, I am Armed Corps Mountain Goat, calling main train, calling the conductor...”

”Didn’t I say this time it would definitely work?”

Professor Ma, smiling, showcased his communication device to the students around.

Each Pan-energy Crystal, like an indicator light, emitted a faint glow, connected on special material threads.

With Mountain Goat’s call, it trembled slightly.

”Is this Professor Ma?”

Professor Ma immediately replied, ”This is the main carriage of the Armed Train, adjust your device per what I say, otherwise it might break and disconnect the communication, the steps are as follows...”

After the two trains were connected, they had a simple conversation.

The deputy carriage where Mountain Goat and others were due to the weakening vortex effect also escaped safely, and without fighting the giant whale, the train body was preserved more completely.

Thinking about the goal of this trip, Mountain Goat and others simply directed the armed train toward the center of Jingchao Lake.

They were currently on the other side of Tide Watching Island.

Separated by about seventeen or eighteen kilometers from the main train.

Yu Yue informed them of the train’s current situation and the New Eden’s ceremony, allowing Mountain Goat and others to judge for themselves whether to rendezvous.

...

Mountain Goat hung up the communication device, took a long breath of relief looking at the surrounding brothers standing or sitting, ”Luckily nothing happened to this thing, otherwise Boss He would’ve kicked me to death.”

A young girl standing to the side made a soft exclamation, her big eyes twinkling, ”Has Dad done something this excessive before?”

Someone said faintly, ”That’s already the most gentle way to die.”

”Once I had a combat task with Boss He, due to a neglect, I brushed the toilets with a toothbrush for a month.”

”Huh?”

He Zhenzhen wrinkled her brow in disgust.

This was the first time she heard about such things, and the instigator was her dad.

”So did you use it?”

He Zhenzhen instinctively asked.

That person sulked, ”Of course not, I didn’t even brush my teeth that month.”

The girl wanted to say something, but someone lightly tapped her shoulder.

Turning around, she saw the calm and composed Qu Hang.

”Brother Qu.”

The latter nodded, glanced at Mountain Goat and others, ”Since that’s the case, let’s act per Major Yu’s order and head inland, trying to rendezvous as soon as possible.”

The overlooked girl was a bit disappointed.

At that time, she was a bit scared, so she went looking for Qu Hang, not expecting to catch up with the train’s separation and being forced to stay on this side.

Mountain Goat was puzzled for a moment, ”When are you planning to set off?”

”Now.”

”In such a hurry?”

Qu Hang turned around, looking directly at Mountain Goat, he said eerily.

”I only have one toothbrush.”
