Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 383: Chapter 256: Department Subdivision

”Automatic update failed?”

Su Huan’s curious voice appeared behind her.

Shu Wei’s heart tightened, and she skillfully and naturally switched the page, explaining, ”It can only automatically update once it’s connected to Black Kite’s network.”

”Oh, I see, I thought it was some kind of secret message.”

Su Huan said casually.

Shu Wei suppressed the goosebumps on her neck with her ability, paused for a moment, and didn’t continue the topic but instead pulled up the notes she just recorded.

”The handwriting is beautiful, so what were you all talking about?”

Su Huan pushed the tablet away and said lazily.

”The altar core has a sort of pan-energy amplification effect, but it requires consuming a large amount of pan-energy. Based on this characteristic, Professor Ma dismantled his newly developed communication device...”

Su Huan became interested, ”Then use this core to amplify the communication device? That’s a good idea. So where are you stuck now?”

”Can’t install it.”

Shu Wei pressed her lips together.

The surrounding students all had strange expressions.

Professor Ma seemed not to hear the conversation between the two, his expression solemn and calm. He checked the complex circuits and pan-energy crystals in a specific order one by one.

”It’s not a complete failure; it did succeed for a moment just now, but the device overloaded before we could test it. However, I have discovered some secrets of this world.”

Listening to the old man’s mysterious revelations, Su Huan also became interested, looked around, grabbed a toolbox, and sat on it.

”Can you be more specific?”

Professor Ma held the pliers seriously, ”Electromagnetic waves, infrared rays, sound waves, and even Bluetooth and WIFI, these old transmission methods haven’t disappeared, but they are being blocked by pan-energy.”

Su Huan focused slightly, understanding the so-called ”blocking” by Professor Ma wasn’t difficult.

It’s like two people standing in line; originally, these two could chat quietly, but suddenly someone cut in line, making it hard for them to whisper, so they have to speak louder.

If more tall people cut in between, it would be difficult to chat even by shouting.

But it doesn’t mean these two people have disappeared.

Just like Yu Yue’s sound wave manipulation, if sound disappeared into thin air, this ability would lose its basis for existence.

And those big guys cutting in line are the so-called pan-energy.

They pervade the air, they’re everywhere.

They are the ones causing communication interruption.

So the newly developed communication devices all bear the shadow of pan-energy crystals.

It’s not that pan-energy has the function of electromagnetic waves or infrared.

But it intersperses among these old mediums, and only through them can information be transmitted better and faster.

It’s like having the big guys cutting in line to help pass the message.

”So now it’s about finding a frequency to ’communicate’ with these pan-energy?”

Su Huan asked thoughtfully.

Professor Ma nodded, ”Every time we increase some pan-energy crystals or add something, the frequency changes. I haven’t figured out this pattern, which leads to frequent maintenance of the communication devices. But give me some time, and I can definitely make the largest communication device on the train.”

Professor Ma’s tone was filled with certainty.

”Well, no rush, take your time.”

Understanding the situation, Su Huan stood up.

Although the communication device is important, it’s not urgent right now.

The director Yu Jing and their team take seven or eight days to repair a car, so there’s plenty of time for Professor Ma to experiment.

When Su Huan left Professor Ma’s lab, it was already noon.

Getting up at five in the morning seems like there’s plenty of time, but in reality, there’s not much that can be done. After finishing some major administrative tasks, the remaining time isn’t even enough to go around various labs.

The director and Vice President Deng’s workshops are in buildings 47, 48, and 49, directly opposite the bullet workshop. Because the train needs maintenance, they haven’t merged, and they are currently disassembling and repairing it from the side.

A group of train experts led the survivors in disassembling the train in the open space.

Su Huan stood by the window watching for a while and asked, ”What time is it?”

”Twelve thirty-four.”

”Invite the director and Vice President Deng to the dining car for dumplings. What’s He Jie doing?”

”He should be training the soldiers currently, the specific location is uncertain. Do you want to notify him with a signal gun?”

”Then forget it. Notify everyone except the Armed Corps to come for dumplings and also call Li Han.”

”Yes.”

Shu Wei responded crisply and turned to leave.

The rustling sound of leisure trousers echoed.

Su Huan looked at the woman’s back, fingers forming a gun shape, and waved it playfully.

...

It took Su Huan over twenty years to realize not everyone loves eating dumplings.

Just like how some people never watch the Spring Festival Gala, dumplings aren’t a universally accepted holiday food.

To some extent, the popularity of dumplings isn’t even higher than that of zongzi.

To cater to the majority’s taste, Yu Yue made three types of dumplings this time.

Boiled, pan-fried, and steamed.

These can almost cover the taste buds of most people from north to south.

Su Huan looked at the steamed, half-transparent dumplings in front of her, discreetly pushed them aside with the end of her chopsticks, then grabbed a plate of hot boiled dumplings and drenched them with cold water at hand.

Yu Jing noticed these small actions, and asked mildly, ”Do you want some chili oil?”

”Hmm, I’ll do it myself.”

Su Huan had a peculiar persistence for dipping sauces.

A spoonful of oyster sauce, a spoonful of minced garlic, two spoonfuls of soy sauce, and a spoonful of vinegar.

This is a common eating method at northern noodle shops.

But Su Huan didn’t stop, continuing to add a few drops of sesame oil and a few drops of chili oil before stopping.

Picking up a plump dumpling with a puppy imprint on it, she rolled it in the bowl and popped it into her mouth.
