Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Su Huan naturally didn’t know what the two women were thinking.

Even if Miao Qi had some bold ideas, he wasn’t in the mood to pay attention.

The armed train being trapped underwater wasn’t a trivial matter. The reason everyone wasn’t too panicked was that the conductor was taking the lead.

And Su Huan had a lot more to consider.

The reason he came over so late was that he went to check the warehouse and maintain the various equipment inside the train.

For such a life-and-death matter, the conductor preferred to take a look himself.

Only after confirming again that the water depth and mutated deep-sea worms posed no threat to the train, did Su Huan breathe a sigh of relief.

Anyway, Black Kite and the like wouldn’t come to find trouble in the Flood Zone, and the electromagnetic weapons of Xiushui City wouldn’t sprout legs and run away, so the armed train could stay in the Flood Zone for as long as it wanted.

Moreover, Su Huan had always wanted to find a chance to test the armed train’s self-sufficiency capabilities.

So there wasn’t such an urgent need to break free.

Currently, food was plentiful; it was just that the supply of purified water was a bit short. Besides the bottled water in the storage carriage, each carriage had a five-ton tank of purified water, totaling five hundred tons of purified water.

There’s definitely enough for drinking, but considering cooking and basic cleaning, it would only last about three months.

Thinking of this, Su Huan suddenly said, ”Since our water storage is sufficient, let’s not use the outside water for now.”

Although Guan Chong City is just a county-level city, its urban area has around 800,000 permanent residents.

Now, it’s estimated they’re all soaking in the water.

Plus the thousands of suspended corpses outside the train...

No matter how much purification it goes through, one still feels uneasy. If it’s avoidable, better not to drink it.

The secretary walking behind paused for a moment, then quickly noted down the command in her notebook.

Although she could remember these things just by hearing them once, she still had to make a show of it for the leadership.

By the time Su Huan arrived at compartment 8, a third of Huang Hai’s fruits and vegetables had already been sold.

People continued arriving in an endless stream.

Even though the price of fruits and vegetables was so high that eating them meant tightening one’s belt for many days, many people still gritted their teeth and bought a portion.

The yearning for fresh vegetables among the people is deeply ingrained in their bones.

After working tirelessly for thousands of years, all was just to find a piece of land to farm, to taste something fresh.

Seeing Su Huan come over, the enthusiastic crowd immediately became somewhat reserved.

After greeting them, leaving Xiaowang to tend the stall, Huang Hai led Su Huan to the second-floor viewing platform, where many Iron-Eating Tree branches were planted as partitions, the ground was dense with vines, and tiny flowers bloomed in the gaps.

Under the cold steel and the technological white lights, this little green-viewed platform had both pastoral vitality and a sense of technological order.

Su Huan found it quite intriguing.

”You’ve arranged quite elegantly, and it’s only been a few days since moving here.”

Huang Hai smiled awkwardly and washed his hands under the automatic irrigation nozzle nearby, wiping them on his gray-green shirt.

”Without the conductor, there wouldn’t be such a small garden.”

Su Huan crossed his legs and let out a light scoff.

In his past life, the locomotive guy wasn’t this way, always talking fervently and constantly thinking about his little modification fees.

He had fixed up a lousy vehicle and kept fooling him every day.

It was that mercenary spirit that made him guess this guy was even a teacher.

”As long as you manage this train car farm well, I won’t short you on evolution resources.”

Su Huan said flatly.

Huang Hai pushed his glasses and smiled, ”I’m quite happy to be able to farm on the train. As for evolution, I don’t have such big ambitions. The points I get every month are already enough for me to splurge on.”

Su Huan was slightly stunned, only remembering now that the current Huang Hai was not the one from his previous life who tricked him out of money for a second-tier promotion.

Ultimately, things were different.

He shook his head with a smile, turned and looked at the fruit and vegetable stall below, his gaze landing on a green leaf.

”Speaking of which, what kind of vegetable is that? It looks like a tree leaf to me?”

Huang Hai came over and looked, ”It’s just a tree leaf, picked from that big Crown Pear tree. I tasted it, no toxicity, and it carries a hint of pear fragrance, so I picked it to make a dish. The conductor doesn’t know, this pear tree is truly a treasure. Not to mention the pears, the leaves can be used as vegetables, the tree itself can produce some pectin, Director Xu said its nutritional value is higher than honey...”

Su Huan nodded thoughtfully, this Crown Pear tree was indeed quite special.

Not only could it encourage other tree species to grow pears, but it also had no malignant mutations itself.

Other plants had some kind of aggressive mutation, but the Crown Pear tree had none; the whole tree was a treasure.

”If the other material reserves on the train were to hit zero, relying solely on your train car farm, how many people could it sustain?” Su Huan suddenly asked.

Hearing this, Huang Hai, who was elaborating on the cultivation details of the Crown Pear, paused, his expression slightly serious.

Besides, although Shu Wei had long estimated the yield, she still took out pen and paper.

Huang Hai considered for a moment, ”The carrying capacity of the train car farm primarily depends on the coarse powder grass, harvested about once a week, roughly two hundred kilograms each time, with a flour yield of 90%, which is about one hundred eighty kilograms of flour, barely enough for a hundred people. But if I remove those space-consuming vegetables, plant coarse powder grass in all four carriages, I’m confident it can meet the needs of a thousand people.”

”Pop!”

Su Huan snapped his fingers, stood up, and tossed a small basket in his hand to him, ”Do well, remember to send some vegetables to the dining car.”

He turned and went downstairs decisively, without any hesitation.

Behind him, the secretary and two bodyguards followed closely.

With Su Huan’s strength, he didn’t need any bodyguards, whether in the train or outside; in case of trouble, it’s uncertain who would protect whom.
