Urban Martial Saint

Hearing Li Qiang mention his older brother, Ye Qing also understood that Li Qiang could not possibly leave his brother here—because that was his only family.

”Why not take your brother with us as well?” Ye Qing said.

”I can’t take him!” Li Qiang let out a sigh and said, ”They fed my brother a kind of poison, and it flares up regularly. If he doesn’t take the antidote, he’ll suffer in agony until he dies. So my brother has to take their antidote on a fixed schedule…”

At this point, Li Qiang didn’t go on, but Ye Qing already understood what he meant. It seemed Li Qiang worked for that short man precisely because of this. His brother was controlled by someone’s poison, which meant he himself was controlled.

Li Qiang was the stubborn sort; even if that short man’s strength far surpassed his, he still wouldn’t let anyone order him around. Li Qiang was the kind of man who would rather lose his life than be controlled by others. But he had a weakness—his brother. If someone controlled his brother, then Li Qiang could only submit to that control.

”Poison?” Ye Qing frowned. He finally understood why Li Qiang was working for that short man—it was because of this.

”If it’s only poison, then I still have a way to detoxify it for him,” Ye Qing said.

”You have a way?” Li Qiang froze for a moment. During this period, he had actually tried taking his brother to some doctors, but none of them had any solution at all. Now that Ye Qing said he had a way to detoxify his brother, Li Qiang was naturally shaken, and also a little excited. If the poison in his brother’s body could be cured, then he wouldn’t have to be controlled by that short man anymore. These days had been torment for him.

”Those mesmerizing medicines earlier were removed by me,” Ye Qing nodded and said. ”As long as it’s poison, there’s no problem.”

”This…” Li Qiang hesitated slightly and lowered his voice, saying, ”Then please wait a moment, I’ll go bring my brother over!”

Ye Qing nodded, and Li Qiang followed the original path back. Ye Qing opened the car door; the few of them returned to the car and found some clothes for Yelu Ying to put on. Yelu Ying had just now recovered a bit.

Not long after, Li Qiang quietly slipped back over with the fool. The fool seemed to have just woken up, still a bit groggy as he walked. Li Qiang led him over to Ye Qing and lifted the fool’s arm, saying, ”Look, there’s a black line on his arm. Every time this black line reaches the elbow, his poison flares up. So before that black line reaches the elbow each time, I have to finish the tasks that man assigns me. Do you really have a way to cure this kind of poison?”

Ye Qing didn’t have any particular expertise regarding poison, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t cure it. The Mu Ling he carried with him could resolve every poison under heaven; the mesmerizing medicine they had been afflicted with earlier had just been neutralized by this Mu Ling.

Ye Qing took out the Mu Ling and placed it on the fool’s arm. After a short while, that black line actually began to fade at a speed visible to the naked eye. In the end, there wasn’t the slightest black line on the arm at all, and it completely returned to a normal color.

”This…” Li Qiang stared wide-eyed, his face full of disbelief. The poison on his brother had troubled him for a long time; during this period he had been brooding over it constantly. He never imagined Ye Qing would so effortlessly cure his brother’s poison and remove his biggest source of anxiety. His excitement was beyond words.

”All right, it’s fine now!” Ye Qing put away the Mu Ling and said to Li Qiang, ”Let’s get ready to move out. Otherwise, once those people come back, we won’t be able to run anymore!”

As Ye Qing spoke, he turned and headed toward the jeep. However, Li Qiang did not follow. He stood behind them, somewhat hesitant, as if thinking something over.

”What is it?” Ye Qing looked at Li Qiang in surprise and said, ”Your brother’s poison is already cured; you don’t have to worry about the antidote anymore. Let’s hurry and go!”

”Ye brothers…” Li Qiang suddenly raised his head to look at Ye Qing. He took a deep breath and said, ”Could I trouble you with something?”

”What is it?” Ye Qing asked in surprise, a bad feeling rising in his heart. Just what was Li Qiang planning to do?

Li Qiang looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Could I trouble you to take care of my brother for me in the future?”

”Why?” Ye Qing frowned at Li Qiang and said, ”You’re not thinking of staying here, are you?”

”You don’t understand—the tracking ability of this group is very strong, and that lord’s strength is formidable. If we all leave together, once he returns he’ll immediately track us down, and then none of us will be able to get away!” Li Qiang said in a deep voice, ”In a bit, you take my brother and leave first. I’ll stay here and can delay them for a while. That way, your chances of escape will be greater!”

Hearing this, even the three with Yelu Ying were moved. Li Qiang was truly a man. Clearly knowing that staying here was a certain death, he still wanted to remain and buy time for everyone. Just from this alone, he was a man worth befriending.

Ye Qing was silent for a moment, then nodded and said, ”Very well, you go back first.”

”Ah?” The three with Yelu Ying all stared at Ye Qing in surprise. Yelu Ying in particular spoke nervously, ”Ye, how can you let him go back? If he goes back this time, that short man definitely won’t let him off!”

”That’s right, Alliance Leader Ye, sacrificing someone else’s life for our safety—this is something I cannot do!” The tall Elder added.

The short man didn’t speak, but his attitude was the same as Yelu Ying’s; he clearly wasn’t too happy about Ye Qing letting Li Qiang go back.

”Relax, I’m not planning to send him to his death,” Ye Qing smiled, looked at Li Qiang, and said, ”Tell me how many Peak Masters are over there?”

Li Qiang said, ”As for Peak Masters, there’s only one—that lord.”

”And the others?” Ye Qing asked.

Li Qiang said, ”The others are all pretty average in strength. Besides, most of the people here are my subordinates. That lord didn’t bring many people over.”

”Then that’s good!” Ye Qing nodded, then suddenly laughed. ”Since that’s the case, we’ll just kill that lord first!”

”Ah?” Everyone was stunned, staring at Ye Qing in disbelief. That lord was a Peak Master; even if all of them joined forces, they were far from his match. How were they supposed to kill him?

Li Qiang quickly said, ”Ye brothers, I don’t think you really understand that lord’s strength. He’s very strong. I’ve fought him before—under his hands I couldn’t even withstand a single move. Killing him is not that simple!”

”To kill a man, you don’t necessarily need to be stronger than he is,” Ye Qing said. ”He’s not a Beyond The Pinnacle master and doesn’t possess Form Transformation power. We may still be able to kill him.”

”You’re not thinking of ambushing him, are you?” Li Qiang immediately shook his head. ”I tried that before, but his whole body is impervious to blades and spears. Even using a Famed Instrument, I couldn’t harm him in the slightest. Killing him is basically impossible—unless your strength is close to his. Otherwise, there’s no way we can do it!”

”Impervious to blades and spears?” Ye Qing smiled again. ”Who said being impervious to blades and spears means you can’t be killed? I’ve killed someone like that before.”

”Oh?” Everyone looked at Ye Qing in surprise. They hadn’t known about this.

Of course Ye Qing wouldn’t mention that he’d once ambushed and killed the Junior Sect Leader of the Sword Saint Sect. This time he planned to use a similar method to kill that short man, only the approach would be slightly different.

”You don’t need to worry about the killing. Just do as I say,” Ye Qing patted Li Qiang’s shoulder and said, ”If you trust me, take your brother back and carry out the plan I lay out in a bit. As long as it goes smoothly, we’ll be able to kill that lord in one stroke!”

Li Qiang was half-convinced, but still patiently listened as Ye Qing finished explaining his plan.

”Your plan isn’t bad,” Li Qiang frowned and said, ”but are you sure you can really kill him? If a single assassination attempt fails, we won’t get a second chance. You’d better be clear about that.”

”I know. That’s why I have to make sure I won’t slip when I strike this time!” Ye Qing picked up the Scabbard of The Ancestor of Miao Dao nearby and said, ”Don’t worry. Without absolute certainty, I wouldn’t make a move lightly.”

Li Qiang and Yelu Ying’s group looked at each other. Ye Qing was very confident, but they did not share that same confidence. If this kind of thing failed, what awaited them would be a dead end.

”All right, we’ll carry out the plan as discussed,” Ye Qing said. ”Li Qiang, take your brother back first, so that when the lord returns he won’t find you missing.”

Li Qiang took a deep breath and suddenly clenched his teeth. ”Fine, we’ll do it your way. Damn it, if it’s a fight to the death anyway, I’d rather die in this desert than be controlled like a Puppet by him!”

Yelu Ying’s three companions said nothing. Their chances of escaping were slim; this was the only method left. If they could kill that lord, then they’d have hope of fleeing. If not, they truly wouldn’t have any chance.

Li Qiang led the fool toward the Cave. On this side, Ye Qing walked to a giant rock, casually picked up a stone from the ground, and began tapping the Taoist Sovereign string on his right wrist.

According to Li Qiang, that short man was probably also a Body Cultivation master. Ordinary Top-Level masters couldn’t break through his body, much less Ye Qing and the others. To kill him, they would at least need Acme-level power.

Ye Qing currently didn’t have any power at all, but he still had a trump card—the Taoist Sovereign on his wrist. The Taoist Sovereign’s power was extremely formidable; it had helped Ye Qing escape death many times and had gotten him through quite a few crises. Last time, when he killed the Junior Sect Leader of the Sword Saint Sect, Ye Qing had used the power of Taoist Sovereign to pierce his defense. Ye Qing had great confidence in the Taoist Sovereign’s power. Using this power to kill that short man would definitely be no problem at all.
