Urban Martial Saint

Faced with the threat from the short man, Li Qiang didn’t say a word.

The short man left with a cold smile, leaving only the guard’s corpse at the scene. Li Qiang stood there in silence for a long time before slowly turning to leave. Perhaps he was unwilling, but his lack of strength left him with no choice but to remain silent.

Inside the prison cell, Ye Qing watched the short man walk away and quickly climbed up somewhat. He wanted to greet Li Qiang, but didn’t expect him to turn and leave, which left Ye Qing feeling a bit cold inside.

Li Qiang had clearly seen him just now, but why did he turn to leave? What does this mean? Could it be that Li Qiang wasn’t planning to help him? Or perhaps, was there an inseparable connection between this matter and Li Qiang?

As he watched Li Qiang walking away, Ye Qing’s heart gradually turned cold, feeling the pain of betrayal by a brother.

”That short man...” At this moment, two elders behind him quietly climbed up. The tall elder looked puzzled and whispered, ”Looks familiar.”

”Oh?” Ye Qing was taken aback and quickly turned to look at the tall elder, curiously asking, ”Have you seen him before?”

”I’m not talking about his face, I’m talking about his physique. It seems familiar,” said the tall elder, bowing his head to ponder for a while, suddenly widened his eyes, and whispered, ”I remember now, this person attacked us before!”

”Attacked you?” Ye Qing felt another stir in his heart. So, this short man must be targeting the Yelu family. He had attacked the Yelu family before, presumably seeking something inside the Yelu Family Ancestral Tomb. But who is this short man, and why is he so familiar with the affairs of the Yelu family?

”I also remember!” Yelu Ying suddenly exclaimed.

”You’ve seen him too?” Ye Qing was even more surprised.

”That’s right!” Yelu Ying took a deep breath and said solemnly, ”This person should be with the group from Koga-ryu who ambushed us before!”

”Koga-ryu people!” Ye Qing frowned. If this person is from Koga-ryu, that’s certainly possible. The Koga-ryu people had previously captured members of the Yelu family, definitely targeting the Yelu Family Ancestral Tomb. Koga-ryu people should be quite familiar with the Yelu family’s situation. This ambush might have been planned long ago.

Moreover, if these really are Koga-ryu people, then things become even more troublesome. The strength of Koga-ryu is quite considerable. If Ye Qing and the others fall into their hands, there is almost no hope of escaping. Could it be that the Yelu Family Ancestral Tomb will really fall into the hands of Koga-ryu?

Time passed bit by bit, and the temperature gradually dropped. The temperature in the desert is like this, reaching fifty degrees during the day and possibly dropping to zero at night.

When Ye Qing and his group were ambushed, they all wore coats, but at that time, the weather wasn’t cold yet, so their clothes remained thin. Now that the temperature has dropped, the clothes they are wearing are insufficient.

Ye Qing was okay, the three forces in his body were enough to withstand any cold. The two elders were relatively strong and could circulate their inner strength to barely keep from getting too cold. But Yelu Ying’s strength was too weak, and her clothes were too thin. As the temperature dropped, she couldn’t stand it anymore, sitting in the prison, shivering uncontrollably. The cold air was too much for her to bear.

Seeing Yelu Ying like this, the two elders hurriedly took off their coats and draped them over her. However, their coats were very thin and couldn’t resist much of the cold. Yelu Ying was still shivering from the cold. Especially since it was somewhat damp in the cave, it felt freezing to the bone.

Ye Qing stood beside Yelu Ying, and seeing her like this, he was extremely worried. If they continued to stay here, not to mention guarding the Yelu Family Ancestral Tomb, Yelu Ying might freeze to death here first. It was only the first half of the night, and with the weather getting colder in the latter half, who knows how Yelu Ying could endure.

He stood up and walked around the cave, but he had already inspected everything in the cave. The cave was built against the mountain, and the iron gate at the entrance was thicker than an arm. Without a famed instrument, ordinary people simply couldn’t open this iron gate. And the scabbard, the Ancestor of Miao Dao that Ye Qing carried, was taken away by those people earlier; Ye Qing now has no famed instrument with him and simply can’t open this iron gate.

The temperature continued to drop, and after about two hours, it fell to zero degrees. Yelu Ying, under such a temperature, was already pale from the cold. If she continued to freeze like this, who knew how long she could hold on?

Just as Ye Qing and the others were at a loss, there was suddenly a faint sound of footsteps outside the iron gate, as if someone was quietly approaching. Ye Qing and the others hurriedly lay down on the ground; they dared not let anyone find them awake. If discovered, escaping would be even more impossible.

The footsteps slowly approached, stopping outside the cave. Ye Qing squinted and only saw a person dressed in black standing outside, but he couldn’t see who this person was, as they stood in the darkness.

The newcomer quietly observed the surroundings, and when certain no one was watching, they then retrieved a key from their body and quietly unlocked the iron gate.

The four of them were puzzled, wondering what this person meant by secretly opening the iron bars.

The person opened the iron bars and immediately slipped into the cave, heading straight towards Ye Qing. When Ye Qing saw the person approaching, he quickly closed his eyes tightly to avoid being discovered awake.

The person crept over to Ye Qing, gave him a push, and whispered, ”Ye brother, it’s me!”

Upon hearing the voice, Ye Qing’s heart stirred, and he immediately opened his eyes to see a figure in black standing before him—it was none other than the fool’s brother, Li Qiang!

Seeing Li Qiang, Ye Qing couldn’t help but be a bit surprised. Just now, Li Qiang had left directly, and Ye Qing thought he wouldn’t come to help him. Unexpectedly, Li Qiang appeared again, which gave Ye Qing a shred of hope.

”Li Qiang, what are you doing here?” Ye Qing quickly sat up.

”Shh.” Li Qiang gestured for silence and whispered, ”Don’t talk about this now. The master went out for business, so there are no experts here. I’m here to get you out first.”

Ye Qing then understood that Li Qiang hadn’t come for a while probably because he was waiting for the short guy to leave. It seemed Li Qiang wanted to help him, but he was just biding his time.

Li Qiang quickly took out a small bottle and handed it to Ye Qing, ”This is an antidote for the mesmerizing medicine. Smell it under your nose a couple of times and you’ll be fine. Wake them up first!”

”No need, they’re already awake!” Ye Qing patted the three beside him, who immediately sat up. Except for Yelu Ying, who was shivering from the cold, the other two were spirited.

”You guys... weren’t you knocked out by the mesmerizing medicine?” Li Qiang asked in surprise. He knew well the potency of that medicine; it couldn’t possibly be neutralized so quickly.

”We weren’t knocked out, we just pretended.” Ye Qing replied in a low voice.

”I see!” Li Qiang said, realizing, and didn’t dwell on it. He quietly opened the iron bars and whispered, ”I’ll take you out first, or else, when the master returns, you won’t be able to run!”

The four of them followed Li Qiang and quietly slipped out of the prison. It was already past midnight, and the guards started nodding off. Hence, no one noticed Ye Qing and the others had sneaked out.

Li Qiang led them past the guards to a deserted area beside the mountain—a pile of rubble was hiding a Jeep. Inside were several boxes containing Ye Qing’s belongings, including the scabbard of the Ancestor of Miao Dao.

”I’ve retrieved whatever I could find of your stuff. If I couldn’t find it, it’s probably not worth searching for.” Li Qiang handed the car keys to Ye Qing and whispered, ”Leave this place and head east. No one is there, after about thirty kilometers, you’ll reach the highway.”

Ye Qing accepted the keys, glanced at Li Qiang in surprise, and asked, ”What about you?”

”I’m going back now,” Li Qiang replied softly.

”You’re going back?” The few people in the car exclaimed simultaneously. If Li Qiang returned after letting them go, wouldn’t that be courting death?

”Why would you go back?” Ye Qing asked seriously. ”You released us; the short guy definitely won’t let you off!”

Li Qiang waved his hand and said, ”Don’t worry, no one knows I did this.”

Ye Qing could see Li Qiang feigning composure, but deep down, he must be worried. In reality, if the short guy wanted to investigate, it wouldn’t be difficult. If Li Qiang returned, they’d definitely trace it to him, and he wouldn’t escape. Considering the short guy’s previous methods, if he knew Li Qiang released Ye Qing and the others, he would definitely kill him!

”No, you can’t go back!” Ye Qing said firmly, ”We can’t let you take the risk!”

”I have to go back!” Li Qiang shook his head slowly and said sternly, ”My brother is still there; I can’t leave him behind!”
