Urban Martial Saint

The great battle at Mount Wendao has not yet spread, but an entirely different event is unfolding inside an abandoned factory in the Eastern Province’s suburbs.

”Wanyan Hongsheng, you can’t escape. I advise you to come out quickly, and I’ll give you a quick death. Otherwise, if I find you, I’ll make sure you suffer unbearable pain, living worse than death!” A cold voice echoed continuously in the abandoned factory. It was a Peak Master who was pursuing Wanyan Hongsheng.

The Wanyan Family had already issued a bounty, and many were tracking down Wanyan Hongsheng, wanting to kill him and claim the reward from the Wanyan Family.

These people were unaware of the Wanyan Family’s crushing defeat at Mount Wendao and were still trying to curry favor with them by achieving success.

The Peak Master was slowly wandering through the factory, purposefully uttering these words to apply psychological pressure on Wanyan Hongsheng. He knew that Wanyan Hongsheng was ambushed in Shenchuan City, losing an arm and being severely injured. Therefore, he didn’t consider Wanyan Hongsheng a threat. In his current state, he could easily kill Wanyan Hongsheng.

”Wanyan Hongsheng, are you really not coming out?” the Peak Master sneered. ”Then I’ll have to come find you myself. But be careful, if I catch you too quickly, it won’t be fun for either of us!”

There was no movement in the factory area; the Peak Master continued to sneer. He had seen Wanyan Hongsheng enter this factory, so he was certain Wanyan Hongsheng was still hiding there. As long as Wanyan Hongsheng was here, he could find him and claim the Wanyan Family’s reward.

”Since you’re being so difficult, I’ll just have to do this personally!” The Peak Master searched the factory district while speaking: ”Wanyan Hongsheng, do you know what the first thing I’ll do after I catch you is? Haha, I’ll first hang you up, pierce your Pipa Bone with an iron chain, making you unable to exert any strength. Then I’ll use a small knife to slowly shave off your flesh, letting you experience the agony of a thousand cuts. Of course, I won’t let you die. If you die too early, that would be too boring. I’ll make you endure every pain in the world and then slowly kill you. I want you to die in agony!”

As he spoke those words, a slight noise suddenly came from behind some machinery in the distance, which did not escape the sharp ears of the Peak Master. He hurried over and turned behind the machinery, but found it empty.

The Peak Master slightly furrowed his brow, about to turn and leave. At that moment, his eyes inadvertently caught a trace of bloodstain on the corner of the machinery. This situation caught the Peak Master’s attention, and he coldly smiled, leisurely walking toward the corner.

As he approached the corner, the Peak Master heightened his vigilance, knowing he faced Wanyan Hongsheng. Although Wanyan Hongsheng was injured, he still needed to guard against a desperate counterattack.

He cautiously observed the ground beneath his feet while carefully listening for any sounds from the opposite side. However, there was no sound, and the Peak Master dared not be careless. He took a slow breath, suddenly dashed out, but instead of facing the corner directly, he shifted to the side. This way, even if Wanyan Hongsheng lay in wait for an ambush, he would miss the mark.

However, upon rushing past the corner, he was taken aback to find no one there. At that surprising moment, a silent hand pressed firmly on top of his head.

”Who…” The Peak Master let out a cry of shock, too late to evade. The hand forcefully pressed on his head, a powerful force struck him senseless, knocking him to the ground, bleeding from all seven orifices, now seriously injured.

As the Peak Master had just fallen, someone dropped from the machinery above him—the one-armed Wanyan Hongsheng.

Wanyan Hongsheng walked to the Peak Master’s side, spat forcefully, and said, ”You think it’s that easy to kill me?”

The Peak Master lay on the ground, unable to move, continuously bleeding from his mouth and nose, knowing he was not far from death. He looked at Wanyan Hongsheng with terror, having never dreamed he would die at the hands of someone so heavily injured. The fact that Wanyan Hongsheng, in such a state, was able to kill him was something he could hardly accept!

”You... how were you hiding there...” the Peak Master asked quivering.

”Do you think I’m a fool, just hiding there waiting for you to kill me?” Wanyan Hongsheng said sternly. ”Haven’t you figured it out? I left a trail of blood on purpose, to lure you over. In fact, I was hiding in the machinery above, waiting to ambush you. I estimated that you wouldn’t turn the corner directly but would rush forward a bit to avoid my attack. Hence, I hid a bit farther inside. Unexpectedly, you cooperated with me perfectly, standing right below me, just right for me to strike!”

Upon hearing these words, the Peak Master was almost driven to frustration and death. Judging by Wanyan Hongsheng’s hiding position, if he hadn’t impulsively rushed forward earlier, without so much caution, Wanyan Hongsheng wouldn’t have been able to ambush him. It was precisely because he overthought that he fell right into Wanyan Hongsheng’s trap, leading to a successful ambush by Wanyan Hongsheng.

”You... you are so despicable...” the Peak Master said tremblingly.

”You taking advantage of my peril to kill me, isn’t that despicable too?” Wanyan Hongsheng coldly laughed, walking to the Peak Master’s side, he stepped on his chest, and said solemnly: ”The victor becomes king and the loser the villain, that’s the eternal principle. If today I died at your hand, people would only say it was deserved; no one would think you came to kill me at my weakest moment!”

After speaking, Wanyan Hongsheng stepped down hard, directly breaking the Peak Master’s rib. The Peak Master didn’t even make a sound and died right there.

After killing the Peak Master, Wanyan Hongsheng took a deep breath, staggered to one side, and slowly sat down against the machine. His injuries were still too severe; although he ambushed and killed this person, his injuries flared up, leaving him powerless to run anymore.

After escaping from the Wanyan Family, he was like a stray dog, fleeing all the way here. During this time, five groups of people attacked him, all wanting to capture him for the Wanyan Family’s reward. This process made him even more resentful of the Wanyan Family, harboring malicious thoughts, pondering how he could retaliate against them.

But he clearly knew that given his current situation, survival was uncertain, let alone revenge against the Wanyan Family. What he needed to do now was figure out a way to stay alive and then find a way to seek revenge against the Wanyan Family!

Settling down against the machine, Wanyan Hongsheng took a deep breath, slowly felt a medicine bottle from his body, and poured some medicine into his mouth. This was the Wanyan Family’s healing medicine, but it certainly wasn’t as effective as the Ziyu Chenxiang Pill, yet it was better than nothing.

After taking the medicine, Wanyan Hongsheng’s complexion somewhat eased. He put the medicine bottle back into his pocket, lay against the machine, and prepared to take a nap. At that moment, a cold voice suddenly came: ”Mr. Wan Yan, the prestige you once commanded in the Wanyan Family was so immense. To have fallen to such a state today, did you ever foresee this back then?”

Upon hearing this voice, Wanyan Hongsheng’s expression suddenly changed. The voice’s closeness meant the person was not far away. And since he hadn’t sensed it at all from beginning to end, it indicated the person’s abilities were not inferior to his prime. It seemed he had encountered a master this time!

Knowing he couldn’t escape, Wanyan Hongsheng chose not to stand up and remained seated on the ground, saying, ”Which friend is it? Since you’re here, why don’t you reveal yourself?”

”We are not friends…” With this cold voice, an old man slowly stepped out from behind the machine.

Seeing the old man, a sharp glint flickered in Wanyan Hongsheng’s eyes, and he said deeply: ”Nalan Jingwei!”

The newcomer was indeed Nalan Jingwei, who had been controlled by Wanyan Hongsheng with the Heart Demon Technique and held deep grudges against the Wanyan Family. During the last Sword Saint Sect battle, he tried to gain the sect’s support, but it eventually fell under Ye Qing’s control. Having failed, he did not join forces with Ye Qing afterward.

The Wanyan Family was preoccupied with countering Ye Qing and had not paid any attention to the relatively weaker Nalan Family, not even noticing where they had gone. Who would have thought Nalan Jingwei would end up here? Wanyan Hongsheng instinctively knew that Nalan Jingwei came specifically for him, as Nalan Jingwei had been captured by Wanyan Hongsheng and taken to the Wanyan Family before!

”Mr. Wan Yan, not seen for a while!” Nalan Jingwei said slowly, his gaze on Wanyan Hongsheng. Although there was little killing intent on his face, Wanyan Hongsheng could feel the profound chill from him. Nalan Jingwei harbored extreme resentment toward him and would undoubtedly not let him off this time.

”Good deeds get good returns, evil deeds get evil consequences—there’s truth in it!” Wanyan Hongsheng forced a smile, saying, ”I always wondered who I would ultimately die by. Now I understand, I must bear the consequences of my actions myself!”

”So you acknowledge your wrongdoing!” Nalan Jingwei said coldly.

”Right or wrong, how does one differentiate these things?” Wanyan Hongsheng sighed lightly, ”In the name of family, what counts as right, what counts as wrong? Prince Nalan, you also oversee a family; surely, you understand more than me. Often, for the family’s sake, you have to do a lot of things you don’t want to, but you can’t avoid doing. Can you truly discern whether it’s right or wrong?”

Nalan Jingwei sharply exhaled, saying, ”I’m not interested in distinguishing right from wrong; I only know those who have wronged me deserve my vengeance.”

”That’s the fairest!” Wanyan Hongsheng laughed loudly, ”Kindness should be repaid, as should hatred. So, there’s nothing to say about dying by your hands. However, I hope you understand one thing: the wrong lies with the Wanyan Family, not me; I was merely working for them!”
