Urban Martial Saint

According to the request of the two elders, Ye Qing slowly parked the car by the roadside. He didn’t say much, but Old Wang Ba looked surprised, staring at the two elders, and said, ”Hey, your Yelu family only has a few women left. If you don’t hurry to save them, then your Yelu family will really be wiped out.”

One of the elders looked at Old Wang Ba and said, ”Sorry, my surname is not Yelu!”

”Huh?” Old Wang Ba was briefly stunned, scratching his head while looking at Wu Changming in the back, and asked in astonishment, ”Aren’t these two from the Yelu family?”

Wu Changming, somewhat embarrassed, explained, ”These two are Tomb Guarding Elders, they have no blood relation to the Yelu family!”

”Aren’t you supposed to be good at predicting things? Do you need to ask others for this?” Ye Qing mocked from the side.

”Nonsense, I need to calculate first anyway. Without calculating, how would I know?” Old Wang Ba said, ”I can’t just look at someone and start predicting their affairs, you think fortune-telling is as simple as eating and drinking water? If I had to read for everyone, Eighth Master here would die of exhaustion!”

Ye Qing couldn’t be bothered with Old Wang Ba. This old fellow was skilled in his rhetoric; no matter what was said, he always found a way to make himself right. Even when he wasn’t, he insisted he was.

Old Wang Ba said, ”Your Yelu family is quite interesting. Such a crucial place as the Great Tomb of the family, and you leave it to outsiders to guard?”

Ye Qing glanced at Old Wang Ba. This old guy really had no filter, saying such things right in front of them, wasn’t this deliberately trying to stir division?

Fortunately, the two elders didn’t bother with Old Wang Ba at all. Or rather, the two elders never paid much attention to Old Wang Ba’s words, focusing more on Ye Qing.

Wu Changming felt very awkward and whispered in explanation, ”Eighth Master, you misunderstand. These two have great favor towards the Yelu family, guarding the Yelu Ancestral Tomb for generations. Everyone in the Yelu family holds great trust in the elders. With them guarding the ancestral tomb, everyone in the family is very reassured, and there have never been any mistakes. If not for the two elders, the family’s ancestral tomb might not have been preserved at all!”

”Is that so?” Old Wang Ba gave the two elders another once-over and said, ”Alright, don’t waste any more time. It’s almost midnight, speak up if you have anything. Once you’re done, we can go save the people, otherwise, it’ll be too late!”

”Old Wang Ba, you’d save more time by saying less.” Ye Qing stopped Old Wang Ba and addressed the two elders, ”Sirs, do you have something to say?”

Old Wang Ba wanted to retort, but one of the elders spoke directly, ”Your name is Ye Qing, right?”

”Yes.” Ye Qing nodded, slightly surprised, having no idea why the elders suddenly began asking these questions.

”Fate of Coiling Dragon, Crouching Tiger Feng Shui. The union of dragon and tiger, ordained by destiny!” The elder murmured softly and then looked at Ye Qing, suddenly stating, ”Ye Qing, I’m speaking to you now as Yelu Tianji, the fifth generation Family Head of the Yelu Royal Lineage, please listen closely!”

”Huh?” Ye Qing was taken aback, looking at the elder’s face which turned solemn and respectful. He had no clue what was happening. Turning to look at Old Wang Ba, seeking answers, but Old Wang Ba seemed only excited and jubilant, completely ignoring him.

”The Yelu family has passed through over a thousand years, once a royal lineage, shining brilliantly. Reaching this point today is ordained by fate, and no one else is to blame,” the elder said solemnly, ”However, the Yelu Ancestral Tomb contains the greatest secret of the Yelu family, and it must be passed on. Therefore, Ancestor Yelu Tianji left teachings, if the Yelu family were to be completely severed, then the secrets of the ancestral tomb and everything belonging to Yelu must be entrusted to someone worthy!”

The elder looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Steward Wu has told me of your situation beforehand. Fate of Coiling Dragon and Crouching Tiger Feng Shui are exceptionally rare Supreme Fates. With sufficient fortune, you can take on the great responsibilities and become a Supreme leader, the ruler of the world. From your Life Grid, you are someone worthy of trust.”

”It’s not just the Life Grid, didn’t I just have you all see it?” Old Wang Ba said, ”This young man has a loyal and honest character, he absolutely won’t bully others by power. Just now, those villagers treated him like that, yet he didn’t retaliate, he has a benevolent heart. Such a person is rare!”

”Great benevolence and righteousness are indeed not easy, but...” the elder looked at Old Wang Ba, saying, ”Those who achieve great things cannot be too kind-hearted.”

At this moment, the other elder also nodded slowly, saying, ”When a gentleman is angry, blood spills in ten steps!”

Upon hearing this, Old Wang Ba and Wu Changming finally realized why the two elders had not chosen Ye Qing initially. They felt Ye Qing’s attitude was too benevolent at the time. But as descendants of the imperial family, they understood well the notion that many lives are lost for the success of one leader. Those with benevolent hearts ultimately lose the world!

But earlier, Ye Qing had gotten out of the car to teach those three young people and that had completely changed the elders’ perspective. They had watched carefully as Ye Qing showed no leniency when reprimanding the trio. It meant Ye Qing, in handling people and matters, had a distinction—he was benevolent when needed but ruthless when necessary. And this, indeed, was the kind of character they were seeking!

After all, being descendants of the Yelu Imperial Clan, they retained imperial thinking methods. They understood well that those too kind-hearted could never achieve great things.

”Wait a moment...” Ye Qing, utterly confused, interrupted everyone hastily, ”I... I’m a bit lost, sorry, what exactly are you talking about? Yelu Imperial Clan? What is it?”

”Right, I forgot to explain to you, Mr. Ye,” Wu Changming said, ”Mr. Ye, you are probably familiar with the history of the Wanyan family. The Wanyan family, deriving lineage from the Wanyan Imperial Clan of the past, can be called descendants of the imperial family.”

”That much I know.” Ye Qing nodded, aware of this from previous understandings.

”The situation of our Yelu family is quite similar to the Wanyan family,” Wu Changming paused, ”Our Yelu family was once a royal lineage too. However, it was later exterminated by the Wanyan Imperial Clan, and what remains today are descendants of an imperial family!”

”Oh, I see!” Ye Qing realized. Though not very good with history, he had some understanding of past dynasties and could figure out which dynasties these families belonged to just from the surnames. And now, he finally understood the historical feud between the Yelu and Wanyan families.

”What about the Yelu Ancestral Tomb then?” Ye Qing asked again.

”You probably don’t understand this!” Old Wang Ba said, ”Actually, let me tell you, for royal lineages like this, the most mysterious place would be the family’s ancestral burial site. Think about it, to become a dominating dynasty, holding power over the entire world, they would find many vital things. But you know, a dynasty cannot last forever. After centuries of glory, decline is imminent, and perhaps eventual extinction. And those imperial families were well aware of this. Once the dynasty fell, wouldn’t the critical things they found be taken by others? So they would go to great lengths to hide these crucial things, with the ancestral tomb being the safest method.”

”How is that safe?” Ye Qing asked in curiosity, ”After the dynasty fell, wouldn’t people simply dig up the ancestral tomb and take away those things?”

”Why is that safe?” Old Wang Ba explained, ”The emperors weren’t fools. Would their ancestral tombs be so easy to locate? Even without mentioning how many decoy tombs they might have set up, can you imagine their tombs being easily discovered? With modern technology reaching such heights, those tomb raiders having advanced technology, like using ultrasonic detection and the like, and explorers also constantly searching for valuable ancient tombs everywhere in the hopes of finding something of value. But even until today, how many emperor’s graves have they found? You think an imperial tomb is that easy to locate?”

What Old Wang Ba said made Ye Qing nod. He had indeed seen this happen himself, knowing the layout. The ancestral graves of the Wanyan Family truly contained hidden secrets. If those things were not significant, Old Wang Ba wouldn’t be so urgent about this matter.

The elder continued, ”Just give you a simple example, take the Wanyan Family. If you hadn’t been in their Ancestral Tomb, would you have known the situation inside? The Wanyan Family’s ancestral burial site concealed many important artifacts, and entering the Wanyan Ancestral Tomb, you knew the situation inside. Since the Yelu Family is a descendant of an imperial lineage like the Wanyan Family, and their ancestral burial site also hides such things, isn’t that of significance?”

The elder spoke on, ”Our forefather Yelu Tianji has left behind teachings that if the Yelu family were ever to be completely severed, then everything that belongs to the Yelu family must be entrusted to someone worthy.”
