Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 674: Chapter 654: An Encounter in a Narrow Path, He Juncai (13)

”Haha, then I’ll count on your care in the future, and I won’t be shy about it.”

As they spoke, Lin Jiayou and the young man had already entered the restaurant and taken a seat not too far from Luo Qianqian and the others, but they could see everything clearly from their position, even overhearing the conversation.

”Don’t mention it, here is your principal plus profit. You needed it urgently, right? Take it.” The young man calmly took out two stacks of money from the unimpressive bag, ”If you need anything, look for me, let’s be friends.”

”I couldn’t ask for more, haha,” Lin Jiayou agreed readily.

”It’s nothing, it’s nothing,” the young man casually said. The two of them flipped through the menu, ordered a couple of dishes at random, and started drinking wine.

He Wenyu pretended to be surprised and nudged Luo Qianqian, ”Isn’t that Brother Jiayou?”

Luo Qianqian’s face showed conflict as she nodded, ”It looks like him, but what’s he doing with so much money?” Her face was filled with panic, as if she had stumbled upon someone doing something bad.

He Wenyu internally gave props, having to admit that Luo Qianqian’s tactic of pretending knowledge bettered direct acknowledgment of Lin Jiayou.

”Money laundering?” Huang Yueran was also startled and immediately lowered her voice, ”Let’s keep our heads down and eat quickly, pretend we didn’t see anything.”

How could they possibly not have seen it? He Wenyu and Luo Qianqian exchanged helpless glances.

He Jun, however, seemed quite interested in that direction.

”Oh? Qianqian, Xiao Yu? Uncle, Auntie, what are you all doing here?” Pretending to stand up to go to the restroom, Lin Jiayou glanced over by chance and seemed just as surprised.

”Mm-hmm, came to eat.” Luo Qianqian looked down, seeming guilty, her eyes flitting about, unwilling to make eye contact. He Wenyu similarly mimicked her actions.

Seeing the two kids acting like this, Huang Yueran and He Jun could hardly suspect their own children of collusion with someone else.

”Qianqian, since you’re here, take this, it’s your pocket money.” Lin Jiayou, being generous, took a few bills from the money in his jacket and casually handed them to Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu, ”Brother has made some money, go buy some candy with it.”

Huang Yueran, looking nervous, grabbed Lin Jiayou’s arm, ”Child, you can’t do anything illegal...”

”Illegal?” Lin Jiayou looked totally bewildered, then realizing Luo Qianqian’s and He Wenyu’s reluctance to take the money, he had an epiphany and said with a smile, ”What are you talking about, Auntie? This is all legal.” He pointed to the young man they were with earlier, ”That guy helps people trade stocks. Qianqian, your Second Uncle knows him too.”

As if to drag Luo Qianqian into it, Lin Jiayou pulled her over, ”This is Mr. Sun. I had to drop your Second Uncle’s name to even... heh heh.”

As if she suddenly understood what the young man meant by making friends, Luo Qianqian seized the moment and took the money from Lin Jiayou’s hand, ”Then thank you, Brother Jiayou, heh heh.”

He Wenyu also took the money in stride. Just as Huang Yueran was about to say something, He Jun spoke up, ”Jiayou, is this reliable?”

”Hehe, Uncle He, what’s the relation between our two families? Would I deceive you? I only had ten thousand in savings, and in three months, it turned into twenty thousand. I couldn’t get that much if I let it sit in the bank for ten years.” Lin Jiayou said mysteriously, ”If it weren’t for the birthday of the girl I’m pursuing coming up soon, I wouldn’t even think of taking it out.”

”Oh,” Luo Qianqian laughed mischievously, without any hint of trying to involve He Jun, ”Looks like there’s a situation, heh heh heh.” Her face was full of mischief.

He Wenyu, still confused, tugged at Luo Qianqian, ”What’s going on?”

Luo Qianqian began sharing the gossip with He Wenyu, while Huang Yueran moved closer to He Jun to listen to the money-making scheme. The issue of tuition fees for extra lessons that their daughter had mentioned earlier now created a huge sense of crisis in her mind. How could she offer her daughter a better learning environment without saving more money at home?

”You, child.” Lin Jiayou had a look of helplessness, ”You have to keep it a secret for me, don’t let it slip out.”

”Okay then,” Luo Qianqian chuckled, grinning.

”I should head back then.” Lin Jiayou had no intention of lingering, turning immediately to head back to his seat.

Inside, he was nervous as hell, afraid that his attempt at playing hard to get would be seen through.

”Jiayou, wait.” Just as Lin Jiayou turned around, Huang Yueran spoke up.

He Jun still wore a look of hesitation on his face.

Huang Yueran tugged at He Jun’s sleeve and said to Lin Jiayou, ”Could you see if you can also help us...”

The implication was clear without being said outright.

Lin Jiayou’s expression showed that he was quite troubled, ”But I’m only here borrowing the name of Qianqian’s brother...”

”I’m Qianqian’s godmother too,” Huang Yueran stated directly, then looked at Luo Qianqian, ”Right?”

Luo Qianqian nodded innocently and then spoke with difficulty, ”But, I don’t represent the Luo Family either...”

The young man seemed to have heard something, looked around, then saw Lin Jiayou and walked over, ”What’s up? Ran into someone you know? I’ll cover this meal then.”

”No need, no need,” Luo Qianqian hurriedly waved her hands, ”We have meal coupons.”

”...You, are you Miss Luo Qianqian, the heiress of the Luo Family?” The young man was startled and immediately asked.

Luo Qianqian stood up with an embarrassed face, nodded, and shook the young man’s outstretched hand.

”How is Old Master Luo doing?” the young man asked.

”Grandfather is still very robust,” Luo Qianqian nodded.

”I wonder how your mother’s health is...”

”My mother and younger brother are both doing well, thank you for your concern.”

”Look at me, rushing out without bringing anything. I will definitely pay a visit another day.” As he spoke, he took out a stack of money from his bag, ”Let this be a congratulatory gift for your mother.”

Luo Qianqian was speechless. Can’t we stop with the formalities?

Still, she kept a smile on her face, ”There’s no need, really. I’ll accept your kind thoughts on behalf of my mother, but as for the congratulatory gift, I cannot accept it.” As she spoke, she smoothly put the money back in the young man’s unimpressive-looking bag, giving He Jun and Huang Yueran a clear view of its contents.

Huang Yueran gasped in surprise, having thought it was just an ordinary bag, but it was filled with money...

He Jun was also a bit shocked, but the next second he recovered and asked, ”And you are...?”

”Oh, silly me.” The young man quickly greeted He Jun and Huang Yueran, then handed over his business card.

Looking at the shiny business card and the string of titles on it, both were stunned.

”Capital City, huh...” He Jun was surprised by the company address on it.

”Indeed,” Lin Jiayou picked up the conversation with ease, ”Brother Sun flew straight over to give me money because I asked for it. I really appreciate it, Brother Sun.”

”Hey, if you call me ’Brother,’ how can I not deliver?” the young man smiled.

He Jun glanced at the business card, then at Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu, who were chatting on the side, and then at Lin Jiayou. He pulled Huang Yueran aside and seemed to say something.

Completely unaware that after the two of them left the dining table, the remaining four people began to stare at each other, not knowing what to say next.
