Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 659: Chapter 639: Unexpected Confession (Part 6)

”Hello, I am Jimo Cheng.” Jimo Cheng turned around and nodded to Zhang Jingjing, his face carrying a distant smile. He had overheard what Luo Qianqian had just said,

”Hello.” Zhang Jingjing smiled and nodded back, then threw herself into Luo Qianqian’s arms, ”Wuu wuu wuu, even I can clearly see that you would never like him, so why can’t he understand that?”

Luo Qianqian was at a loss whether to comfort her or not. She clearly hadn’t done anything, so why had she gotten involved in this situation? Now that she thought about it, hadn’t Jiang An always treated her in the same way as Xiao Yu, without expressing any particular affection? Why did it suddenly mean that he liked her?

”Qianqian is our exam god, so how could she be monopolized by just one person?” He Wenyu said with a laugh in an attempt to defuse the situation, ”In our group, all we can do is watch Qianqian run ahead. Even if she falls and stops, given the distance between us, it’s unlikely that we’ll be able to immediately run over to comfort her. Someone else will reach her side before us, no matter how hard we try to catch up.”

Luo Qianqian was stunned. Was it really like that? Is that how Xiao Yu saw it? Was there really a distance between them now?

”Yeah, back then when Qianqian was just a young girl and won the national Silver Award, she was already ahead of us. We had to work hard just to see her, but now, Qianqian has changed tracks. Even someone like Gu Yanzhi, one of the fastest among us, can’t see her anymore,” Zhang Jingjing said with a bitter smile, then turned to Luo Qianqian, ”Qianqian, can I ask you for a favor?”

Luo Qianqian nodded, ”Tell me, I’ll do my best.”

”If you haven’t rejected Jiang An, I hope you can talk to him and reject him; if you’ve already rejected him, then just forget I said anything.” Zhang Jingjing clung to Luo Qianqian’s arm, her face serious.

As soon as she finished speaking, Luo Qianqian noticed that both Jimo Cheng and He Wenyu’s gazes were on her, and even Jimo Cheng had almost twisted his upper body to a full one hundred and eighty degrees to look at her.

Luo Qianqian gave a bitter smile, ”Senior brother, you were there too, weren’t you? Before I could say anything, he had already run off...”

Jimo Cheng recalled the scene just now and nodded. Indeed, that was what had happened.

Zhang Jingjing’s lips curved into a smile, tears falling, ”See, even he understands, but he just won’t admit it. I really don’t know what to say about him...”

Luo Qianqian frantically wiped the tears off Zhang Jingjing’s face, ”Don’t worry, I will make it very clear and direct, leaving no room for hope.”

The lights outside the car window were bright, and Jimo Cheng looked at his own reflection on the car window, his lips curving slightly upward. A boyfriend, huh? The idea didn’t seem too bad.

Soon they arrived at Zhang Jingjing’s home. After getting off, she didn’t forget to repeatedly emphasize to Luo Qianqian to remember this matter.

As the car started moving again, He Wenyu let out a sigh of relief. How many times had he experienced such a vague fondness since childhood? Just as he could never have imagined those two getting together, He Wenyu couldn’t figure out why Jiang An would fall for Luo Qianqian. When they first met, Luo Qianqian was just a little brat, much like the wailing first-grade little kids.

”Why did those two break up? And why on earth did Jiang An suddenly start saying he likes me?” Luo Qianqian looked puzzled and bewildered as she turned to He Wenyu.

He Wenyu first glanced at Jimo Cheng and, seeing no reaction from him, said quietly, ”It seems it was about a quarrel... She didn’t say, and I don’t know either.”

Luo Qianqian thought about it and realized she didn’t need an explanation, but she remained utterly perplexed.

”Jin Yuee is excellent and deserves everyone’s affection,” Jimo Cheng suddenly said, his voice soft, with a hint of a smile, ”Jin Yuee is very nice, pretty, and adorable. She also has a great personality and is smart. Why wouldn’t anyone like her?”

Luo Qianqian was surprised by Jimo Cheng’s evaluation of her, and her lips curled up. Anyone would be happy to hear praise, the difference was whether they showed it or not.

”Yes, yes, yes,” He Wenyu nodded helplessly.

Luo Qianqian pursed her lips and squinted her eyes, but a moment later her face became solemn, ”Speaking of which, I just felt that something was off with Jiang An. Didn’t his face seem too red?”

”It seems he was drinking,” He Wenyu nodded, ”So after he made the phone call, Jiang Qian chased after him.”

Hearing this, Jimo Cheng furrowed his brows, wanting to say something but he didn’t speak up because when he had embraced Luo Qianqian just now, he hadn’t smelled alcohol on her.

”I suddenly feel like I’ve grown up,” Luo Qianqian exclaimed out of nowhere.

”?” He Wenyu looked at her, puzzled.

”Being confessed to,” said Luo Qianqian matter-of-factly. After speaking, she cast a somewhat resentful look at Jimo Cheng sitting in the front row; because he was her fiancé, there was no process of pursuit. He Wenyu and Zhao Wenxuan even had a time of ambiguity, didn’t they?

Jimo Cheng felt Luo Qianqian’s gaze, was stunned for a moment, then curled his lips into a smile. He said nothing, just quietly watched the fleeting street scenes outside the car window.

”Qianqian, what are you planning to tell Jiang An?” He Wenyu asked in a low voice.

Luo Qianqian was stunned for a moment, threw up her hands, ”He’ll probably call to say he drank too much yesterday, right? Then I can just share my thoughts, can’t I?”

”I feel like he’s not the type to continue yesterday’s topic with you when he’s sober,” He Wenyu said carefully, thinking back on Jiang An’s various actions over the years, frowning slightly.

Luo Qianqian thought about it and agreed that Jiang An had always been a shy person, so it made sense.

She gave a wry smile, ”I can’t possibly call him specifically to reject him, can I? Wouldn’t that be really embarrassing for him? But I can’t play dumb either; I still need to give him a clear rejection...”

”How about you give him a call later?” He Wenyu pursed her lips and suggested.

After a moment of stunned silence, Luo Qianqian nodded, ”I’ll call Jiang Qian later when I get back to ask her first.”

He Wenyu also nodded. Both of them had looks of utter helplessness on their faces, without the pride a girl would normally have after being pursued.

With her phone in hand, Luo Qianqian looked at her contacts and sighed again. Some issues, if they are not punctured through that proverbial window paper, can maintain a friendly status quo to a certain extent. But once pierced, the original balance is disrupted and everything becomes chaotic. Just like now, even though only He Wenyu and Zhang Jingjing knew what was going on, each of them was sharp as a tack; how could they not guess?

Jimo Cheng chuckled. Girl’s matters, he thought it best not to meddle. As long as Luo Qianqian had a clear conscience, he had nothing to worry about. Besides, these people didn’t pose a threat to him—in the worst-case scenario, he might feel a little upset. But it also made him realize that the person he chose was outstanding, which was why others would like her too.

As long as that person wasn’t Xu Tianyi.
