Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 660: Chapter 640: Unexpected Confession (Part 7)

Back at the hotel, Lin Jiayou was watching TV in the living room. Seeing the three people with different expressions, he was curious but wisely didn’t ask any questions and simply said, ”You’re back.”

Luo Qianqian nodded, ”I’m going to take a shower first, I’m so tired from playing all day.” She nodded at Jimo Cheng and Lin Jiayou before entering her room, and He Wenyu quickly followed her; what would happen next was crucial.

Though Zhang Jingjing wouldn’t necessarily react negatively just because Luo Qianqian hadn’t explicitly rejected Jiang An, it was undeniable that there would be a strain. What could be worse than having one’s boyfriend like one’s best friend? Moreover, this was the reason for their breakup.

He Wenyu sighed, pulling Luo Qianqian and recounting what had happened after Jiang An pulled her out. Luo Qianqian was completely taken aback—because she had broken up with someone???

”Jingjing not hitting me is really...” Luo Qianqian shrank her neck, quietly relieved.

”Hit you for what? It has nothing to do with you.” He Wenyu gave Luo Qianqian a look, ”On the way back, I thought it over carefully and didn’t see anything special about how Jiang An treated you. How could he say he can’t forget you and wants to follow you?... It almost sounds like you’re already dead.”

Luo Qianqian fell silent for a moment, ”To say something special, there actually is something.”

Seeing the puzzled look from He Wenyu, Luo Qianqian spread her hands, ”Originally, he was my deskmate, and he even brought me lollipops, the kind that I liked later on.”

”...Is he crazy? How old were you then?” He Wenyu, after hearing this, looked disgusted as if he had seen something horrifying.

”...He wasn’t that old then either.” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”What should I say when I call Jiang Qian?”

”Just say you’re checking on how Jiang An is doing... I feel like, given Jiang An’s personality, he wouldn’t tell Jiang Qian anything.” He Wenyu seemed confident in his reasoning, nodding emphatically.

Luo Qianqian nodded and picked up her phone, dialing Jiang Qian’s number.

As soon as she connected, she heard vomiting sounds from the other end.

”Qianqian, what’s up?” Jiang Qian closed the bathroom door, leaning against the wall with a helpless face, wondering how so many things could happen. Fortunately, her mother had gone to Grandma’s house today, and her father was still working overtime, otherwise, there was really no place to explain.

Luo Qianqian could clearly hear the vomiting sound, her voice hesitant, ”Jiang An, are you okay?” He Wenyu leaned close to Luo Qianqian’s head, listening to the sounds from the other end, his face completely serious.

”It’s okay, I’ll feel better after throwing up, don’t worry.” Jiang Qian looked at the closed bathroom door, where there was now no sound, and sighed slightly, ”I caused you trouble today.”

”Not at all.” Luo Qianqian quickly waved her hand, then remembered she was on the phone, put her hand down, ignoring He Wenyu covering his mouth and laughing at her, she asked softly, ”Is Jiang An awake now?”

”He should be almost awake.” Jiang Qian paused, walking to the window with her phone, asking, ”Are you planning to give him an answer? He did confess today, right?”

Luo Qianqian paused for a moment, then ’hmm’ed, knowing that no matter how much she hid, after all, the siblings would have their own thoughts, which were hard to truly conceal.

”I know you won’t accept him, but can you reject him gently? It’s not what I mean, I hope you don’t leave him any room for imagination and be decisive, but I also worry about him getting hurt, so I hope you can be gentle, do you know what I mean?” Jiang Qian said somewhat incoherently, her voice full of concern, ”I realized something when he broke up with Jingjing, because there were suddenly a lot of lollipops at home during that period, and I knew the only one who liked those was you.”

Luo Qianqian paused for a moment, then smiled bitterly, ”Jingjing also hopes I can be decisive and not leave him any hope, but I think he must understand, he had already seen my boyfriend before he left.”

Jiang Qian was shocked by Luo Qianqian’s sudden revelation, ”You have a boyfriend now?”

”Yes, Jiang An has seen him.” Luo Qianqian, seeing He Wenyu smiling sinisterly to the side, also felt quite helpless. There was no way she could say that was her fiancé, could she? It would be too horrifying, but to say he was her boyfriend still felt somewhat reluctant, especially since he had never pursued her or confessed.

”That explains it...” Jiang Qian muttered under her breath, glancing at a dark shadow reflected on the bathroom door’s glass and sighed deeply.

”So, should I give him your phone number?” Jiang Qian asked.

Luo Qianqian hesitated for a moment and, seeing He Wenyu continuously nodding on the side, finally answered, ”Okay.”

After speaking, she began to take deep breaths, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale...

”Jiang An, it’s Qianqian’s call.” Jiang Qian said as she tapped on the glass door.

Jiang An grunted a response, opened the door, took the phone, and stepped out of the bathroom, his eyes still reddened, ”This is Jiang An.”

”Jiang An, this is Luo Qianqian.” Luo Qianqian’s voice was calm.

”I know.” Jiang An picked up a glass of water that Jiang Qian had poured and drank it all in one gulp, ”I didn’t mean anything else by confessing to you today, I just wanted to tell you that I like you, and I hope we can still be good friends in the future. That’s all I wanted to say.”

Luo Qianqian was stunned and exchanged looks with He Wenyu.

Jiang An continued, ”After all, you were the first person I ever liked. I always felt I couldn’t truly start another relationship without saying goodbye to you first.”

”So you confessed without expecting a response from me?” Luo Qianqian was a bit bewildered, and He Wenyu was dumbfounded.

”It would have been better if there had been a response, but I didn’t hold out much hope. I fall far too short. Today, after seeing your boyfriend, I realized it even more clearly.” Jiang An forced a smile. Although they were the same age, that person’s presence, temperament, and aura were incomparable to his own, any fantasies he had vanished at that moment, ”Pretend I was just being delirious. We’re still good friends.”

”Alright, then you take care of yourself.” Luo Qianqian hung up the phone and then exhaled a sigh of relief, looking at He Wenyu, ”I hadn’t expected this.”

”Go on, go take a shower already,” He Wenyu glanced at her and inwardly mourned Jiang An’s past affections, seeing it as palpable excuses. Luo Qianqian had believed it sincerely; if this wasn’t indifference, then what was?

Watching Jiang An put down the phone and cry, Jiang Qian hugged him, ”It’s alright, everyone has that one unattainable person. Besides, isn’t the person you like the most brilliant one here?”

Jiang An nodded silently, his resolve, once firm, had crumbled in an instant, no longer able to muster any fighting spirit.

He once thought that even if his rival was Gu Yanzhi, as long as he worked hard, it wouldn’t be too bad.

Yet, there are such people who, without saying much, can completely rout him in an instant.

”Sister, keep it a secret,” Jiang An’s face took on a serious expression, ”about Qianqian having a boyfriend and about my confession.”

”That should be no problem, but it seems Jingjing also...”

”She won’t talk about it... In her eyes, Qianqian and Xiao Yu’s matters are much more important than others.” A trace of relief crossed Jiang An’s face: ”Luo Qianqian, I hope you can be happy and joyful, don’t waste this affection I have for you.”
