Chapter 67 – 64 Little Beast Moves In

“`

“…”

One man and one beast sat facing each other, their four eyes locked in a silent exchange.

Lu Qing fell silent as he looked into the little beast’s aggrieved eyes.

He hadn’t expected the little thing to actually hide up here.

And by the looks of it, it seemed to have been guarding this spot all night.

“Little guy, have you been waiting here all night?”

...
After a long silence, Lu Qing asked.

The little black beast didn’t move, but the look of distress in its eyes only grew more intense.

“…Sorry, I had something to do last night and wasn’t home.”

“…” The little black beast still didn’t move, but a glimmer of moisture appeared in its eyes.

Seeing the little black beast looking like it was about to cry, Lu Qing felt a surge of guilt for reasons he couldn’t explain.

If he wasn’t mistaken, this little thing was still just a cub, wasn’t it?

And besides, it could be considered his creditor.

After all, he had taken a Century-old Ginseng from it without giving anything in return.

“How about… you come inside with me?” Lu Qing tentatively asked, “I still have some fish left in the kitchen.”

Seeing the moisture in the little beast’s eyes seemed to recede a bit, Lu Qing opened the door and went inside.

After he carried Little Yan into her room and came back out, he saw the little black beast sitting on a stool watching him.

Lu Qing smiled, went to the kitchen, poured all the remaining fish into a wooden basin, and brought it out, placing it in front of the little beast.

Seeing the large basin brimming with fish, the little black beast’s eyes instantly lit up.

It immediately pounced on the fish and began to eat voraciously.

All previous grievances disappeared without a trace.

Watching the little black beast eat happily, Lu Qing couldn’t help but smile.

When he thought about it, this little thing was quite something.

Despite having been hungry all night, it hadn’t forcibly entered, but instead had waited on the eaves for him all night.

This respect clearly showed that it truly considered him a friend.

Otherwise, with its nose, how could it not have smelled the fish in the kitchen?

If it had really wanted to break in, it would have been effortless.

Seeing the little beast so engrossed in its meal, Lu Qing didn’t disturb it but went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

Although he had already made breakfast at the Half Mountain Small Courtyard for his master and the others, he hadn’t eaten himself yet.

He set up a pot of congee, adding some minced meat to it, and let it simmer slowly, then Lu Qing went to take a bath.

He had been preparing medicine for the past two days and had sweated a lot, not to mention being in the smoky pharmacy, so he felt sticky and terribly uncomfortable.

After bathing and feeling refreshed, Lu Qing was surprised to see that the little black beast, having finished eating the fish, didn’t leave immediately.

Instead, it sat leisurely on the stool, grooming its paws and washing its face.

As for the large basin of fish on the floor, much of it remained.

What a rarity!

Lu Qing marveled.

This was the first time he had seen the little black beast leave any fish behind.

Usually, whenever he fed it, it would clean out all the fish.

Even if it was somewhat stuffed, it resolutely wouldn’t leave any leftovers.

This time he had put in twice the usual amount of fish, and the creature finally hadn’t been able to finish it all.

But this still surprised Lu Qing.

“Little guy, when do you plan on leaving? I’m about to wake Little Yan for breakfast.”

Lu Qing knew that, aside from himself, the little black beast didn’t seem to like interacting with other people.

Usually, when it came to eat fish at night, it would always wait until Little Yan was asleep.

However, what he didn’t expect was that the little black beast seemed to ignore his words.

It just walked over to a corner, jumped onto a cabinet, curled up, and fell into a deep sleep.

Lu Qing: …

“`

“I’m really going to wake Little Yan up, okay?”

The little beast still didn’t move.

What’s with this guy being so out of character today?

Lu Qing found it odd.

“…You can keep this stance if you want, but later, when Little Yan sees you and gets excited, you better not hurt her.”

Lu Qing reminded the little beast, then went into the room and called Little Yan to wake up.

After urging the sleepy little one to wash her face and brush her teeth, Lu Qing brought over the congee he had prepared.

While drinking the congee, Little Yan wasn’t yet fully awake.

She was just mindlessly sipping on her congee, her gaze blurry and unfocused, staring at something across from her without really seeing it.

Gradually, her eyes began to focus, and they grew wider and wider.

“Brother, what’s that?”

Little Yan pointed at the dark shape on top of the cabinet in front of her and hurriedly asked.

“Oh, that,” Lu Qing glanced up and seeing the beast was still motionless, replied, “that’s the black little beast you’ve been wanting to see every night but somehow never could.” Experience new stories on empire

“That’s the little beast?!”

Suddenly, the little one couldn’t even keep drinking her congee.

She immediately hopped off the stool and scurried to the bottom of the cabinet, looking up.

But being so small, she couldn’t see the black little beast on top of the cabinet from down there.

Little Yan became so anxious she was practically pacing in circles.

She thought for a moment, ran back to the table, grabbed a stool and planned to stand on it to see the little beast.

Lu Qing saw this and hurried over to stop her.

“Don’t bother it, be careful it might scratch you.”

With that said, the black little beast didn’t seem pleased.

It stood up, stretched lazily, then let out a gentle call towards Little Yan.

Little Yan immediately brightened up, “Brother, look, the little beast says it won’t scratch me!”

Lu Qing: …

He couldn’t tell that was what it meant.

But he did feel that the little beast was showing friendliness towards Little Yan.

After a moment’s thought, he no longer stopped Little Yan from making contact with it.

Having spent time with the creature, Lu Qing knew the black little beast possessed high spiritual wisdom and was scarcely different from humans.

Since it was showing friendliness, it seemed it didn’t reject Little Yan’s presence.

“Alright then, go ahead and make friends with it,” said Lu Qing.

Then he warned the little beast, “Little thing, remember not to bully my sister, okay?”

The black little beast gave Lu Qing a disdainful look, then jumped down from the cabinet lightly and went over to Little Yan, nuzzling her hand with its head.

And then it provocatively glanced at Lu Qing.

Little Yan was even happier now, she excitedly shouted to Lu Qing, “Brother, the little beast wants to be friends with me!”

Lu Qing saw the triumphant look on the black little beast’s face.

So, this little thing was deliberately showing off in front of him.

However, he was relieved that the two little ones could get along peacefully.

He let his guard down and said with a smile to Little Yan, “Since that’s the case, you should be good friends with it. It’s very powerful, so make sure not to upset it, okay?”

“Don’t worry, Brother, I won’t!” Little Yan happily replied.

The black little beast, upon hearing Lu Qing praising its might, also displayed a pleased expression.

These bipedal creatures really had some insight, recognizing its power.

“Little beast, little beast, can I pet you…”

What followed was a time for the two little ones to interact with each other.

Lu Qing, seeing they were getting along fairly well, decided to leave them to it.

And seeing that Little Yan’s bowl was almost empty, he began to put away the dishes in the kitchen.

Just as he finished washing up, he saw Little Yan scampering in.

“Brother, brother, let’s give the little beast a name, shall we?”
