I Can See Through All Things Information

Chapter 65 – 62: Housekeeper of Wei

“The Wei Family,” he said, “is the foremost powerful family in the Prefecture, but it is not merely a family within the State Mansion.”

“In fact, the influence of the Wei Family not only spans the entire State Mansion but is even rumored to have sky-reaching connections within the royal capital.”

“Young Master Lu, facing such a powerful family, a prestigious family, can you say I am not afraid?”

Upon hearing Ma Gu’s explanation, Lu Qing finally understood why he held such reverence towards the Wei Family.

But he still had some doubts, “Since the Wei Family is so formidable, why would they settle in a mere small county?”

“I’m not sure about that,” Ma Gu shook his head, “Perhaps it’s because Cang County is where the Wei Family originally rose to power.”

“Moreover, to my knowledge, most of the Wei Family’s substantial assets and influence have already been transferred to the State Mansion and the royal capital. What remains in the county includes only the ancestral home and some less significant properties.”

...
“However, the family head of the Wei Family continues to reside in the ancestral home, for reasons unknown.”

“Of course, even though a major portion of the Wei Family’s assets have moved out, their status within the county remains unshakeable by any other family.”

It seems the Wei Family holds secrets.

Lu Qing pondered thoughtfully.

Otherwise, it would be hard to explain such peculiar behavior.

The Family Head, favoring to stay in the small county over the bustling State Mansion or royal capital.

Regardless of what secrets there were, they were beyond his reach at present.

Thus, Lu Qing decided to skip over this matter.

However, hearing how powerful the Wei Family was eased his mind a bit.

Given the resources of the Wei Family, they surely wouldn’t lack precious medicinal ingredients.

If the two guards were quick enough, Young Master Wei would survive the night and his life could be saved.

In fact, the two guards were much faster than Lu Qing had anticipated.

Because there was a critically ill patient needing urgent medical aid at any moment.

Hence, Lu Qing did not return home that night and stayed at Half Mountain Small Courtyard instead.

During the night, as he sat in a chair holding Little Yan, drowsy, the little one slept soundly in his arms.

Suddenly, a commotion from outside woke him.

Seeing that Little Yan hadn’t awoken, he carried her into his master’s room to let her continue sleeping, then he walked outside.

Once outside, he noticed the courtyard was brightly lit, filled with many people.

On either side of the courtyard, over ten burly men stood in two lines, holding lanterns that brightly illuminated the area.

Lu Qing saw Guard Li, who was speaking softly to a middle-aged man with a commanding presence.

“Are you saying that the Young Master’s injuries are too severe to allow for easy movement?”

After hearing Guard Li’s report, the authoritative middle-aged man asked.

“Yes, Grand Steward, Elder Doctor Chen said that the Young Master’s condition is still quite critical, and it would be best if he could rest quietly here for now. Once he wakes up and feels better, it would then be advisable to return to the Prefecture,” replied Guard Li.

“I need to go in and see the Young Master.”

The man known as the Grand Steward did not immediately agree but instead made a request.

Guard Li instantly looked towards Elder Doctor Chen.

The elder doctor nodded, “Only one or two persons can go inside. Having too many people could disturb the Young Master, allowing evil spirits to invade his body.”

Hearing this, the authoritative man quickly said, “Everyone else wait outside, just Elder Doctor Chen and I will go in.”

“Yes, Grand Steward.”

Watching the two disappear into the room, Lu Qing’s eyes filled with shock.

He muttered to himself, “Inner Organs Realm…”

In the sickroom, as soon as he reached the bedside and saw the Young Master’s pale face, closed eyes, and somewhat dry lips, the heart of the Housekeeper of Wei tightened.

After inspecting the wound on the Young Master’s abdomen, his eyebrows furrowed even more.

Before coming, he had thought that those two scoundrels exaggerated the severity of the Young Master’s injuries to shirk responsibility.

Now it seems that those two rascals not only didn’t lie, they even understated the severity of the injuries.

What life is already saved, the injuries stable.

The Grand Steward, who also knew some of the principles of medicine, could clearly see that the current state of the young master was indeed hanging by a thread and he could die at any moment.

And this was after the doctor’s treatment, one daren’t imagine what state the young master was in before this.

Recalling the previous instructions of the Family Head, the Housekeeper of Wei turned around and deeply bowed to Old Doctor Chen.

“Many thanks to Old Doctor Chen for saving our young master’s life, this grace and kindness, the Wei family will definitely keep in mind.”

“It’s not necessary to be so formal, I just did my duty as a doctor,” Old Doctor Chen waved his hand, “Moreover, your young master has not yet completely escaped danger, it’s too early to say such things.”

The Housekeeper of Wei quickly said, “I heard that Old Doctor Chen needs ginseng and notoginseng? Before I came out, the Family Head specifically ordered me to bring a lot of herbs, please follow me out to choose some.”

“Oh, you brought the ginseng?”

Old Doctor Chen’s spirits lifted.

Although his medical skill was excellent, without good materials, even with his skills, he couldn’t perform well.

The two returned to the courtyard.

“Bring up the chest.”

At the order of the Housekeeper of Wei, two men immediately carried a chest forward.

Opening the chest, inside were several long boxes.

The Housekeeper of Wei went forward and opened those boxes.

Inside were all top-quality herbs that were dried and ready for use.

There were even more than ten roots of ginseng alone.

Lu Qing saw that some of them, were even larger than the two that the little beast had brought him.

Lu Qing couldn’t help but be amazed.

As expected from a great family, their foundation was indeed profound, casually bringing out so much Century-old Ginseng.

“Old Doctor Chen, please use any of these herbs as you need, if they aren’t enough, I will send someone to fetch more from the mansion,” the Housekeeper of Wei respectfully said.

“We won’t need so much.”

Old Doctor Chen chuckled lightly, only taking a few boxes from the chest, ginseng, polygonum multiflorum, and notoginseng, one box of each.

“I will go now to the pharmacy to prepare the medicine; you all also rest a bit from your journey, if there is anything, just instruct my disciple here.”

Old Doctor Chen pointed towards Lu Qing.

The Housekeeper of Wei immediately bowed again towards Lu Qing: “Thank you, Young Master.”

“It’s no trouble, just call me if you need anything,” Lu Qing hurriedly returned the bow.

At the same time, he once again marveled inwardly.

As expected from someone from a great family, this steward clearly held a high and powerful position within the Wei Family, a real authority figure with stern authority.

You could tell by the way Guard Li and the others regarded him, it was a respect that came from deep within their bones.

Moreover, it had previously been revealed by his superpower that this steward was a Martial Arts master of the Internal Organ Realm.

Yet, such a figure, when in need, was still able to give and take respectfully, fully giving face to others without any arrogance or bullying by power.

For a steward to have such magnanimity, no wonder the Wei family had evolved from a county-level family to a powerful and influential great family.

Old Doctor Chen was quick in preparing medicine, and by that night, he had the prescription ready and boiled.

In front of the Housekeeper of Wei, he then fed the life-saving broth to Young Master Wei.

A bowl of herbal medicine went down, followed by Old Doctor Chen’s acupuncture to enhance the effect.

It wasn’t long before the Housekeeper of Wei saw that on his master’s pale face, a hint of color finally appeared.

The breathing also became more stable, no longer the thread-like breath.

This change greatly uplifted the spirit of the Housekeeper of Wei and also strengthened his confidence in Old Doctor Chen.

What made the Housekeeper of Wei even more delighted was that the next morning, as the sun was just rising,

he saw his master’s eyelids twitch.
