Chapter 22: Chapter 22: An Uncle Comes for Help

So, how did it actually taste?

Time to dig in.

Before she started eating, Ye Shengge still took a few photos.

Then, she began to eat.

She picked up a mouthful of shredded potatoes with her chopsticks, chewed a few times, and her eyes instantly lit up.

It was delicious!

Ye Shengge had lost count of how many times she’d eaten shredded potatoes in her life, but she’d never thought they could taste this good.

’Has he stir-fried these potatoes to the peak of textural perfection?’

Who knew that when stir-fried to textural perfection, shredded potatoes could be so unbelievably delicious.

She had always thought shredded potatoes were good.

But this feeling was completely different.

What level of skill did it take to turn an ordinary ingredient like potatoes into such an ultimate delicacy?

’Even a Special Chef would struggle to do this, right?’

Ye Shengge remembered eating shredded potatoes made by a Special Chef. While it was certainly delicious, it still fell short when compared to the plate in front of her.

’Is Li You’s stir-frying skill also the best in the country?’

She couldn’t make that claim based on a single dish of shredded potatoes, but she suspected that if he wasn’t the absolute best, he was at least among the very best.

’His noodle-making and stir-frying skills are both top-tier in the nation?’

’And the key is, he’s so young.’

’It’s just unbelievable.’

The more Ye Shengge thought about it, the more incredible it all seemed.

’I look forward to eating more delicious food at this restaurant in the future.’

She continued eating the shredded potatoes.

Ye Shengge had considered ordering a side of rice, but she felt she definitely wouldn’t be able to finish it.

’I’d better just stick to the potatoes.’

Slowly, the entire plate of shredded potatoes disappeared into her stomach.

She was a little stuffed, but completely satisfied.

After a little while, she said to Li You, ”I never imagined that a simple plate of shredded potatoes could be so delicious. I’ll have to add your shredded potatoes to my personal food guide.”

Ye Shengge was feeling quite emotional.

’I can’t believe I’m adding a new dish to my food guide so soon.’

’It seems the owner was right. I’ll be adding even more in the future.’

Of course, she hoped to add as many as possible.

Li You was delighted to hear this and said with a smile, ”I’m very happy to make it into Miss Ye’s food guide again.”

Ye Shengge said, ”I should be the one who’s happy. By the way, Owner, if you add any new dishes in the future, please be sure to let me know.”

Li You nodded. ”Okay, no problem.”

After that, Ye Shengge scanned the QR code to pay.

The total was 27 yuan.

Just then.

”Congratulations to the Host for completing the first sale of a new menu item.

A new main quest is now being issued: Achieve a total revenue of 2,000 yuan within one week.

Quest Reward: One recipe, two lottery draws.”

The voice made Li You ecstatic. ’Finally, a new main quest!’

’But this quest seems pretty difficult!’

To reach 2,000 yuan in revenue within a week, he would need to make an average of 286 yuan a day.

Given his current situation, that would be very challenging.

”System, what happens if I fail the quest?”

”Quest progress will be reset to zero. The timer will then restart, and the quest will begin again. This process will repeat until the quest is completed.”

In other words, there was no penalty for failure. The progress would just reset, and the quest would start over.

’Then there’s nothing to worry about.’

Li You felt a great sense of relief.

After that, Ye Shengge sat for a little longer before saying her goodbyes and leaving.

She was heading back to the provincial capital.

”Owner, I’m leaving now. Goodbye.”

”Drive safely. Goodbye.”

It was 11:00 AM. He continued to wait for the next customer.

Around this time, electric tricycles and motorcycles would occasionally pass by on the adjacent road.

They were all villagers from the surrounding area.

Today was the market day in town. They had all gone to attend the market.

Now the market was over, and they were passing by on the road on their way home.

These days, many people in the villages had bought electric tricycles.

The smaller models were quite convenient for going to the market.

Many of them would glance curiously at the restaurant as they passed by.

But they almost never came in to eat.

Everyone went home for their meals.

However, it seemed there was always an exception to the rule.

An old man who looked to be in his sixties rode an electric tricycle very slowly into the parking area.

He stopped the vehicle.

The old man looked toward the restaurant and saw Li You lying in the rocking chair at the entrance.

Then, he walked straight over.

His steps were surprisingly brisk.

’Is the old man here to eat?’

Li You was a bit surprised, but he quickly stood up to welcome the customer.

As the old man got closer, he said, ”Young man, could I ask you for a favor? My tricycle is out of battery. Can I charge it here for a bit? I’ll pay you.”

’So that’s what it is.’

’No wonder the old man’s tricycle was moving so slowly when he pulled into the parking area.’

’And I was right, it didn’t seem likely he was here to eat.’

Li You smiled. ”Of course you can, Sir. No need to pay, just go ahead and charge it. For as long as you need.”

The old man said, ”Young man, I have to pay you. You have to pay for your electricity too.”

Li You replied, ”Really, Sir, it’s fine. How much electricity does charging a tricycle use? I’ll go bring it over for you.”

The path from the parking area to the restaurant entrance was about a meter wide.

A car couldn’t pass through, but a small electric tricycle like the old man’s could get by easily.

”Thank you, young man, thank you so much. The key is still in the ignition.”

”Alright. You’re welcome, Sir.”

Li You walked to the parking area. In the cargo bed of the old man’s tricycle, he saw some scattered cabbage leaves.

’The old man must have gone to the market to sell cabbages.’

’Business must have been pretty good; he sold them all.’

He got on the tricycle and rode it toward the restaurant entrance.

It could still move, but very slowly. It was running on its very last bit of charge.

Luckily, the distance wasn’t far.

He slowly rode it to the front of the restaurant. Li You brought out an extension cord from inside.

He plugged in the charger.

The old man let out a long sigh of relief. Thank goodness there was a restaurant here.

Otherwise, he probably would have had to find someone to tow his tricycle home.

”Young man, this restaurant of yours just opened, didn’t it? Which village are you from?” the old man asked.

Li You replied, ”That’s right, it just opened. I’m from Changle Village. How about you, Sir? Which village are you from?”

The old man said, ”I know Changle Village, it’s not far from here. I’m from Taoshan Village.”

Li You said, ”That’s still a ways off. It must be another seven or eight kilometers. Sir, were you in town selling cabbages?”

The old man nodded. ”Grew ’em myself. They sold well today. I brought twelve and sold every last one.”

The old man was clearly very happy about selling out.

Li You thought, ’Just as I thought,’ and then said with a smile, ”It’s great that you sold them all.”

The old man saw the ”Today’s Specials” board and asked, ”Young man, you sell noodles here?”

Li You nodded. ”That’s right! We sell Yangchun Noodles and Beef Noodles.”

The old man said, ”In that case, young man, make me a small bowl of Yangchun Noodles. By the way, what are Yangchun Noodles?”

Li You explained, ”Yangchun Noodles is just the name. It’s a plain noodle soup.”

The old man said, ”Alright then. A small bowl of Yangchun Noodles it is.”

Li You nodded. ”Okay, Sir. Please wait just a moment, I’ll go make it for you right away.”

”Alright.”
