I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: New Menu Items

Soon, the four large bowls and two small bowls of noodles were ready.

He served them to his customers.

Wei Ping’s wife said with delight, ”They really do look delicious.”

Wei Ping smiled. ”They taste even better. Come on, everyone, dig in.”

As it turned out, Wei Ping’s wife, parents, and two children all exclaimed how delicious the noodles were. They all said they had never tasted noodles this good before.

Every single one of them was happy and satisfied.

Seeing his family so happy made Wei Ping even more delighted.

After they finished their noodles, he scanned the code to pay.

As they had agreed last time, Li You gave him a 20% discount.

”Congratulations, Host, for successfully selling fifty bowls of Yangchun Noodles and completing the main quest.

Quest reward acquired: one recipe, one lottery chance.”

With a new recipe, he could add a new item to the menu.

’I wonder what kind of recipe it is?’

Li You was both excited and expectant.

He checked it immediately.

He summoned his personal info panel. Sure enough, there was an unopened recipe book in the Storage Pavilion.

He opened it right away.

”Recipe: Stir-fried Shredded Potatoes.

Learn?”

So it was a stir-fried dish, Stir-fried Shredded Potatoes.

Li You was pleasantly surprised.

Stir-fried shredded potatoes was an extremely common, everyday home-style dish.

The method was very simple, and it seemed to require no technical skill at all.

But that wasn’t actually the case.

The technical skill required to make stir-fried shredded potatoes was actually quite high.

Making delicious stir-fried shredded potatoes was no easy feat.

That was why Li You was so pleasantly surprised.

Transforming the most ordinary ingredients and the most common home-style dish into a supreme delicacy was often the truest test of a chef’s skill.

If he could achieve that, it would be something to be very proud of.

”Learn.”

Li You didn’t hesitate.

Soon, he had completely mastered the recipe for Stir-fried Shredded Potatoes.

From this moment on, Li You would be able to make the most delicious shredded potatoes in the world.

He took another look at the Stir-fried Shredded Potatoes recipe.

”Recipe: Stir-fried Shredded Potatoes.

Required Ingredients: Potatoes, green peppers, red peppers, peanut oil, garlic, salt.

Optional Ingredients: Green onions, shredded cucumber, chives, small celery, etc.”

Besides the main ingredient of potatoes, stir-fried shredded potatoes could be paired with various side ingredients like green peppers, red peppers, green onions, shredded cucumber, chives, or small celery.

Different side ingredients resulted in different flavors.

Li You could choose his own combinations.

Next up was the lottery.

’This is my first time using the lottery. I wonder what kinds of prizes there are?’

”System, lottery interface.”

”Understood, Host.”

The lottery interface appeared before Li You, visible only to him.

The main feature of the interface was a prize wheel.

It was divided into four sections.

They were: Recipes, Ingredients, Cookware, and Other.

It turned out the prize pool was quite broad; he could win all sorts of items.

At the top of the wheel, the display read: Lottery Chances Remaining: 1.

”Spin.”

The wheel spun rapidly, then slowly came to a stop with the pointer in the ”Recipes” section.

Then, a very beautiful gift box appeared on the interface.

Colorful ribbons fluttered as the gift box opened.

”Recipe: Beef Noodles.”

”Congratulations, Host, on obtaining the Beef Noodles recipe.”

The prize reveal was quite a beautiful sight.

The Beef Noodles recipe was another pleasant surprise for Li You.

Yangchun Noodles were vegetarian, and now he had a meat-based noodle dish.

One vegetarian, one with meat—a perfect combination.

He found the Beef Noodles recipe in the Storage Pavilion and tapped ”Learn.”

After mastering the Beef Noodles recipe, all the knowledge related to it was now in Li You’s mind.

Li You would now be able to make the most delicious beef noodles in the entire world.

”Recipe: Beef Noodles.

Required Ingredients: Noodles, beef broth, beef, chili oil, scallions, soy sauce, vinegar.

Optional Ingredients: Cilantro, garlic sprouts, cooked radish slices, etc.”

Beef noodles were a common noodle dish found all over the country.

It originated in Lanzhou.

Lanzhou Beef Noodles are very famous and delicious, characterized by their ”one clear, two white, three green, four red, and five yellow” qualities.

But now, the beef noodles made by Li You would be the most delicious of all.

Having mastered two new recipes in a row, Li You was very happy.

The next step was to stock up on the ingredients needed for the two new menu items.

’I hope I can trigger some side quests, or maybe a game instance.’

”Boss, can we pick a couple of the loquats from these trees to eat?” Wei Ping’s voice came from outside the shop.

After finishing their noodles, Wei Ping had taken his family outside to rest and enjoy the scenery.

There were a few loquat trees outside the shop, all of them wild.

Though they were wild, they still bore a good amount of fruit.

They were mostly ripe now—round, yellow, and quite tempting.

They tasted pretty good, too. Li You had eaten his fair share over the past few days.

Li You walked to the door and said, ”Of course. Help yourselves.”

Wei Ping thanked him. ”Thanks a lot, Boss. We won’t be shy, then.”

”Thank you, Mister!” the two children added.

Li You smiled. ”You’re very polite.”

”Time to pick loquats!” The two children were thrilled.

For them, this was perhaps the first time they had ever picked loquats directly from a tree.

Just then, an all-black bird flew over and landed at the top of a loquat tree.

Then, it aimed its beak at a large, yellow loquat and pecked at it.

”Mister, that crow is eating your loquats,” one of the children said, pointing at the bird at the top of the tree.

Li You smiled. ”It’s alright, let it eat. But that’s not a crow, it’s a blackbird.”

Blackbirds and crows are both all black and look somewhat similar, but the differences are quite obvious.

Blackbirds are smaller, have yellow beaks, and their calls are melodic and pleasant.

Crows, on the other hand, are larger, their beaks are also black, and their caws are hoarse.

Li You explained the difference between a blackbird and a crow to the two children.

The two children nodded repeatedly.

Then, one of the children asked, ”Mister, are we just going to let that blackbird eat the loquats and not do anything?”

Li You nodded. ”We’ll leave it be. Blackbirds are beneficial birds, so it’s no big deal if they eat a few loquats. Besides, these trees are wild anyway.”

Both children nodded.

Then, with Wei Ping’s permission, the two children climbed the tree.

These loquat trees were quite tall, about four or five meters high.

The two children were overjoyed to be picking the loquats from the tree with their own hands.

At that moment, another car pulled into the parking lot.

When Wei Ping saw it, he smiled. ”Boss, more business for you. It feels like your business is doing much better than a few days ago.”

Li You also smiled. ”That’s all thanks to the support of loyal customers like you.”

「In the parking lot.」

Soon, a car door opened.

A woman in her early twenties stepped out.

When Li You and Wei Ping got a clear look at her, a flash of astonishment appeared in their eyes.

The woman was very tall—at least 177 centimeters in bare feet—and exceptionally beautiful.

The woman glanced toward the restaurant and then walked straight over.

As she approached, she gave Li You a slight smile and said, ”Hello, Boss. You must be the owner, right? I heard the Yangchun Noodles here are amazing, so I came all this way to try them.”

Li You smiled. ”Welcome, you’re very welcome. Please, come in!”

’I’m actually really curious who told this young woman about my place.’

’But it would be a bit awkward to ask.’

’I guess I’ll just have to let it go.’
