Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: It’s Settled

Liu Yang’s arguments made a lot of sense, and suddenly everyone was at a loss for words.

But there was another problem.

”But a single bucket of manure really can’t do much, can it?” Even if it’s just one bucket every two months.

”Why can’t it do much?” The village chief knocked on the table, drawing everyone’s attention: ”One bucket every two months can’t water all the crops, but watering dozens of plants shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

”I say, everyone should select a small piece of crop and specifically use the manure from Little Jiang’s family to water it. When they grow and harvest, keep the harvest from that small piece as seeds!”

Liu Yang nodded repeatedly: ”Yes, yes, yes, the village chief is right, just like those vegetable seeds!”

The vegetable seeds have already been collected, and Brother Hu was the first to distribute them to those who wanted them. Not many, just a small pinch per family. When his family got them, everyone took a glance and then scattered them into the vegetable garden.

As long as these vegetables are watered, they won’t die from drought, they can be planted anytime.

However, I must say, those seeds are indeed two sizes bigger than usual seeds, and the vegetables they grow will surely be bigger too.

After discussing for a while, the village chief asked Liu Yang to go fetch Jiang Hu back.

It’s because they hadn’t thought things through. At noon, carrying a child out could be swelteringly hot, and they shouldn’t let the sun scorch the village’s Little Lucky Star.

For a moment, the village chief felt that those who have too many ideas are being a bit meddlesome.

Jiang Hu came back with Little Mi, pretending that nothing happened, just fanning Little Mi with a leaf.

As for Little Mi, she was pouting unhappily the entire time, completely different from her previous cheerful demeanor.

Liu Yang, eager to please, ran out to find a broken bamboo fan. Though broken, it was much better than a leaf, wasn’t it?

As a result, Liu Yang received a sweet smile from Little Mi.

The smile made Liu Yang overjoyed, making him feel like great fortune was coming his way!

As for what the others thought or whispered to themselves when they saw this, that wasn’t something Little Mi needed to worry about.

Next, they discussed how to exchange manure at Jiang Hu’s house. After all, there are many households in the village, and Jiang Hu’s toilet isn’t big.

Of course, even if the toilet is big enough, it still depends on how much one eats and, hence, how much one produces.

Ahem, back to the point.

The whole village rushing to extract manure all at once certainly wouldn’t work; it would probably empty Jiang Hu’s place in no time.

So even if it’s one bucket every two months, it has to be done with rules.

After some discussion, they decided to draw lots, going in order. Each day, one family would bring a bucket to Jiang Hu’s house to exchange for manure.

Besides Jiang Hu’s family, there are forty-seven households in the village, which takes a month and a half, and the remaining half month leaves a gap before exchanging again.

Of course, some had objections, but most agreed. Those who disagreed would either not participate in the draw, and whether Jiang Hu would be willing to exchange with them later depended on his mood.

When the village chief said this, everyone knew that this was settled, either agree or handle it yourself.

The unwilling ones glanced at Jiang Hu, but he ignored them, just playing with Little Mi.

Thinking about what Liu Yang said earlier, ever since they settled in Fuan Village, although initially, Jiang Hu did give everyone sparrows and fish.

However, since Jiang Hu washed diapers by the river, he had scarcely approached the villagers, greeting them only if they met on the way to work, with no further chit-chat.

Before, they thought Jiang Hu was busy working to support his family, too busy and uninterested in chatting with others.

But now, with Liu Yang’s reminder and seeing Jiang Hu joking with Little Mi, he wasn’t as sullen and repressed as they imagined.

Therefore, Liu Yang’s words became even more credible.

After everyone finished discussing, Jiang Hu understood how things would proceed. He stood up with Little Mi, ready to go back.

”Village chief, I’ll leave the lot drawing to you. Once decided, write it on a note and have someone bring it to me. I’ll then know the order when families come to exchange manure.”

The village chief was a bit surprised: ”Little Jiang, you can read?”

Jiang Hu nodded calmly: ”I learned a little, but not much.”

Once he said this, everyone’s attention was captured, and almost everyone looked at him in surprise.

Liu Yang exclaimed: ”Wow, Brother Hu, you’ve been to school? How come I’ve never heard you mention it!”

Jiang Hu smiled faintly: ”I’ve never been to a formal school, just learned from an old master for a while, nothing much to say.”

Regardless of what others thought, he directly told the village chief, ”I’ll leave the rest to you. Little Mi hasn’t had her afternoon nap, so I’ll take her back to rest.”

He then patted Little Mi’s buttocks.

Little Mi yawned in response, squinting her eyes while leaning against her papa.

Papa is amazing, he even studied with a master, surely those people wouldn’t dare to bully papa now!

The village chief quickly said: ”Alright, you head back first and take this fan with you. The sun is strong, use it to shade Little Mi.”

Though the fan was broken, left behind by the former homeowners, it’s still better than nothing, right?

Jiang Hu glanced at the fair, tender Little Mi in his arms, thanked them, and took the fan.

By the time they got home, it was nearly noon, and nearly an entire period had passed unwittingly.

Er Nian hadn’t slept, sitting under the eaves weaving straw sandals, waiting for Jiang Hu and Little Mi to return. When she finally saw them appear, she breathed a sigh of relief.

She knew she didn’t need to be so anxious, given the recent disaster had just passed, and everyone was striving to live peacefully, unlikely to go overboard.

But emotions aren’t something one can control at will.

Soon, Jiang Hu arrived home. Little Mi was already dozing off, and Er Nian swallowed her questions, indicating Jiang Hu should settle the child first.

The small bed was made of bamboo, and with a thick blanket underneath during this weather, it was even cooler and more comfortable than a regular bed.

Sooner or later, as it gets hotter, not even a thick blanket will be needed, just sleep on a bamboo mat.

Unlike Iron Egg who needed to be coaxed to sleep and have someone with him, Little Mi didn’t. Jiang Hu just placed her on the bed casually, and she looked at him through sleepy eyes, then turned over and fell asleep.

Jiang Hu shook his head, thinking how Little Mi was incredibly easy to manage, then sat beside Er Nian under the eaves, picked up some straw to help her with the work.

”Why are you making more straw sandals? We already have plenty to last us for years.”

Er Nian smiled: ”Well, there’s nothing else to do anyway. By the way, you went to the village chief’s today, did you have any trouble?”
