Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Celebration Assembly

Wang Yi couldn’t be bothered with any victory celebration at the moment. The construction of the Octagonal Cage could wait. He immediately left the Eggshell House and glanced up at the sky. There seemed to be a bright spot—that must be the Energy Lighthouse.

Soon, Wang Yi ran over to Prototype No. 1 with the Military Governor, Nangong Jin. He opened the Energy Lighthouse’s information panel, found Prototype No. 1 in the list of connected devices, and clicked ”Operate.”

The next moment, Prototype No. 1 trembled slightly and began to charge automatically!

Wang Yi checked Prototype No. 1’s information panel again and saw that the charging speed was extremely fast. It jumped 0.1% every second, which meant it would be fully charged in just a thousand seconds!

”This is our Profound Iron Armor. Impressive, huh? We also have a Crossbow Machine Carriage. You’re not in the best shape, so I’ll let you use it from now on...”

Wang Yi chatted with Nangong Jin and even gave him a key to the Crossbow Machine Carriage. After about 17 minutes, the Profound Iron Heavy Armor - Prototype’s energy was indeed full. Wang Yi looked at the Energy Lighthouse’s information panel again and saw that Prototype No. 1 had used a total of 72,000 kWh to charge.

’72,000 kWh, that’s 72,000 units of electricity. The Energy Lighthouse’s annual maintenance fee is 2,190 Gold Coins, which is equivalent to 6 Gold Coins per day. The lighthouse can generate 600 million kWh per day. If I treat the maintenance fee as the cost, then the cost to generate 100 million kWh is only one Gold Coin. That means charging 72,000 kWh costs just 7.2 Copper Coins! Only 7.2 copper to fully charge a Mecha...’

After a moment of reflection, Wang Yi entered Prototype No. 1.

Prototype No. 1 was now at 100% power. An information window indicated it could maintain full power output for 24 hours.

Wang Yi silently ran the numbers again.

’Prototype No. 1 has a full charge of 72,000 units and can run at full power for 24 hours. That means it consumes 3,000 units per hour at maximum output. The Energy Lighthouse can generate 600 million kWh a day, which is 25 million units per hour on average. That’s enough to support 8,333 of these prototypes running at full power.’

’Damn, that’s too much power! I can’t use it all, there’s no way! Prototype No. 1, let’s move! Time to go wild!’

Excited, Wang Yi started up Prototype No. 1.

Prototype No. 1 was equipped with a neural control system and an optical computer-assisted system, with options for both auto-pilot and manual piloting.

In auto-pilot mode, the Mecha would execute voice commands automatically. Manual piloting mode used mental controls, making it feel almost identical to controlling one’s own body.

Wang Yi selected manual mode. He controlled Prototype No. 1, making it do push-ups, sit-ups, hold a horse stance, and even dance the ”Kemu San.” He felt completely in control; the movements were incredibly smooth, without the slightest hint of discomfort from the controls.

’This high-tech Mecha is the real deal!’

Wang Yi was very satisfied, but he soon felt it was a bit of a shame.

’Prototype No. 1 is strong, no doubt about it. Its defense is practically invincible, and the frame can even automatically repair itself. But it has no weapon systems, and it can’t fly. It’s an Infantry Mecha.’

’Infantry Mecha it is, then. It weighs 7.68 tons, and with base stats like these, it could dominate the world with sheer strength alone! At the very least, piloting this prototype will make catching Hardworking Turtles and Rock Giant Scorpions a breeze...’

Still excited, Wang Yi played around by himself for half an hour before piloting Prototype No. 1 directly to Eggshell Square.

The Military Governor, Nangong Jin, followed behind him, driving the Crossbow Machine Carriage.

A large number of villagers had already gathered in Eggshell Square. And it wasn’t just villagers—Gegeda, the Combat Chicken Squad, the Rock Giant Scorpions, and the Hardworking Turtles were there too.

To Wang Yi’s surprise, the crowd of villagers remained remarkably calm upon seeing the towering Prototype No. 1. The few who kowtowed did so in a leisurely, unhurried manner.

Then again, there were so many strange things in Eggshell Village that the villagers had long since grown used to the bizarre.

Wang Yi emerged from Prototype No. 1’s cockpit. Seeing everyone looking at him with eager anticipation, he announced, ”I declare the victory celebration officially open!”

”Hooray!”

Yang Qingniu let out a loud cheer and, to everyone’s surprise, started clapping.

Zhang Lengzi and the others immediately followed suit.

Wang Yi glanced at the members of the Civilian Militia. ’Where did these guys learn to do that?’ he wondered. ’Or maybe clapping already existed in this world?’

Next, Wang Yi briefly introduced Nangong Jin to the crowd. He then had Jelena act as the ”host” and say a few words to everyone while he took out the Talent Assessment Machine and began taking pictures of the attendees one by one to assess their abilities.

Jelena moved with an elegant, aristocratic air. Never one to have stage fright, she ascended a makeshift platform of wooden tables. Her first order was to distribute some dried fish, which immediately electrified the atmosphere. Everyone in the crowd grew excited, and applause erupted from all sides.

”I am Jelena Wang, and I’d like to say a few words!”

Jelena raised her hands to quiet the crowd, then continued, ”I’ll take this opportunity to first talk about the current situation and policies of our Eggshell Village...”

After that, Jelena basically began giving a lecture. She introduced everything from the Eggshell Castle, the Foreign Affairs Department, the Intelligence Department, the Production Team, the Huanghua Fishery, the Giant Scorpion Sandfield, and the Eggshell Pier. She then went on to explain in detail Eggshell Village’s wage policies and recruitment matters.

It was unclear if the villagers understood any of it. In the beginning, they just ate their dried fish while clapping and cheering. Once the fish was gone, they started to kowtow, doze off, and grow drowsy. Whenever they were jolted awake, they would just start clapping and cheering again.

Jelena spoke for a full two hours. Even Yang Wanli, Gegeda, the Combat Chicken Squad, and the Rock Giant Scorpions next to her were dozing off. Besides Wang Yi, Nangong Jin, Old Mo, and a few others, only the five Hardworking Turtles, who didn’t need sleep, remained steadfast.

Nangong Jin, however, was listening very attentively.

”Alright, that’s all from me. Now, please welcome my father, the great Lord Wang Yi, who will bestow rewards based on merit for the campaign against Black Mountain Stronghold! Someone, bring out more dried fish for everyone!”

As Jelena’s tone rose, Yang Qinggu, Yang Qingxiu, Liu Cuihua, and the others jolted awake and scrambled to the main canteen to fetch the Crispy Fried Small Fish.

And when Yang Wanli, Yang Qingniu, and the others heard that rewards were about to be given out, their sleepiness vanished instantly. One by one, they started clapping and cheering again.

At this moment, Wang Yi put away the Talent Assessment Machine.

He was slightly disappointed.

There were plenty of people present, but very few of them were truly talented.

A moment later, seeing that the Crispy Fried Small Fish had revitalized the crowd, Wang Yi decided not to delay any further. He sat on the shoulder of Prototype No. 1 and declared, ”Our army has won a great victory, crushing Black Mountain Stronghold, burning their den, and slaying their leaders! Those who have contributed will be rewarded! As for the rest, even if you did not perform meritorious deeds, you share in the glory! Someone, bring the Mystic Iron Swords and the money bags...”

Hearing this, Yang Qinggu and the others got busy again.

Soon, they arrived below the platform, carrying the Mystic Iron Swords and money bags.

Wang Yi continued, ”Production Team Leader Zhang Dashan, Fishery Manager Old Mo, and Sandfield Manager Boss Li! For maintaining stable production, you have earned merit! You are each awarded one Mystic Iron Sword and five Gold Coins! Step forward to receive your rewards!”

A wave of applause broke out. Zhang Dashan and Boss Li got up, looking a bit nervous at first, but they quickly straightened their backs, their faces beaming as if about to glow. The two of them waved to the crowd as they walked to the foot of the platform amidst the applause.

Old Mo, however, remained expressionless as always.

Jelena took the stage again to present them with their rewards, offering her congratulations.

Zhang Dashan and Boss Li took the Mystic Iron Swords and the prize money, raising them high to show the crowd, their faces filled with excitement.

The Mystic Iron Sword was a symbol of honor and merit.

No one was particularly envious of the sword, but the five Gold Coins made them unbearably jealous.

Five Gold Coins was a huge sum of money, enough to buy a house in the county seat. Many people in the crowd had never even seen a Gold Coin in their entire lives.

For a moment, the sound of applause was mixed with murmurs of envy and jealousy.

Wang Yi then continued, ”The members of the Civilian Militia have earned merit for killing our enemies! You are each awarded one Mystic Iron Sword, one Gold Coin, and a Skill Book! Step forward to receive your rewards!”
