Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 53: Chapter 53: This Person Must Never Be Provoked

News that the two Grand Generals of Divine Might had arrived at the city gate soon reached Yixiang Tower.

Inside Yixiang Tower, the air was fragrant with the smell of meat and wine. Songstresses sang and Dancing Girls danced. Duan Hu and his subordinates were in high spirits, while Qiao Meng stood to the side, serving them attentively.

”What? Two men riding giant scorpions, calling themselves Grand Generals of Divine Might, are here demanding gold and silver?”

Hearing his subordinate’s report, Qiao Meng found it rather amusing. ’Is someone here trying to scam us?’ he thought.

”Giant scorpions?”

Duan Hu’s eyes lit up. He pushed aside the girl next to him and said, ”Let’s go. Come with me and take a look. My Talent is War Beast Contract, but I still haven’t found a War Beast. Let’s go check out those giant scorpions!”

The two of them left Yixiang Tower with a squad of guards and quickly arrived at the gatehouse.

By the light of the torches, they saw Man Datou and Yang Wanli and were momentarily stunned.

Seeing more people on the wall, including what looked like a man in charge, Yang Wanli shouted, ”We’ve come to sell high-quality pearls! One Gold Coin each, 650 in total! It’s a bargain! Whoever wants to trade, bring your money down!”

As he spoke, Man Datou took out a handful of pearls and showed them to the people on the wall from afar.

”Selling pearls? What the hell?”

Qiao Meng narrowed his eyes and called down, ”May I ask where you two have come from? How about you come into the city for a drink?”

Yang Wanli said, ”Our time is limited. We’ll leave once the deal is done. As for where we come from, you don’t need to know.”

Duan Hu laughed. ”Good. Very good. Excellent! I’ve never heard of any Grand General of Divine Might. Men, open the gates and seize them for me...”

As a Player who feared nothing, Duan Hu wanted to send his men to capture the two below and get a good look at their giant scorpions.

But Qiao Meng interjected, ”Wait. I fear these two won’t be easy to deal with. It’s better to be cautious. Men! Bring out the chest of coins I prepared. Let’s placate them first!”

Duan Hu curled his lip in disdain. ”We’re the Fourth Celestial Calamity! What the hell is there to be afraid of? You’re just a coward.”

A moment later, the city gate opened. A few men came out carrying a wooden chest, followed by a troop of soldiers holding torches and long sabers. They fanned out, subtly moving to surround Yang Wanli and Man Datou.

Yang Wanli narrowed his eyes and sidled up to Man Datou. ”Barbarian Guard, there are a lot of them. We’ll have to play it by ear. If things go south, we run!”

Man Datou nodded. He jumped off his Rock Giant Scorpion, walked over, and opened the wooden chest. Inside was a mix of Gold Coins, Silver Coins, and Copper Coins—a considerable amount by the looks of it.

A steward-like man said from the side, ”Inside are 620 Gold Coins, over 2,800 Silver Coins, and over 12,000 Copper Coins, which adds up to exactly 650 Gold Coins!”

”Not bad. You can have all the pearls!”

Man Datou nodded and tossed down the bag of pearls. Ignoring everyone around him, he hoisted the chest of money onto his shoulder and returned to the back of his Rock Giant Scorpion.

”You’ve all been very straightforward. The transaction is complete. We’ll be heading back now. You can go back too, no need to see us off. Uh, General Man? General Man...?”

Getting no response, Yang Wanli turned his head to see that Man Datou had already taken off. His Rock Giant Scorpion was galloping away, leaving only a shadow in the night.

”Shit!”

Yang Wanli’s eyes widened, and he scrambled to flee as well. But he was a step too slow. The surrounding Guards swarmed forward and cut him off.

On the gatehouse, Duan Hu was furious. He pointed at Yang Wanli and roared, ”Fucking hell, they really were scammers! You dare scam the Fourth Celestial Calamity? You’re dead! Men, seize him first, then go after the one that got away!”

”Government Guards, listen up! Capture both of them!”

Qiao Meng hurriedly commanded as well.

The next moment, a large number of soldiers rushed down from the gatehouse and out of the city gate. Yang Wanli was quickly surrounded. A few cavalrymen on warhorses also appeared, chasing after Man Datou.

Yang Wanli was panicking inside, but he feigned fearlessness and bellowed, ”I am a Grand General of Divine Might! Who dares to stop me!”

”So what if we stop you?”

Three soldiers raised their sabers and advanced. They were skilled fighters from the Red Tiger Camp. Although they were a little afraid of the Rock Giant Scorpion under Yang Wanli, they felt brave enough to act with their superior numbers.

”Stopping me is a death wish!”

Yang Wanli roared, putting on a brave face.

Just then, as if in response to his cry, a speck of light suddenly appeared in the darkness. It flew rapidly to Yang Wanli’s side, flashed once, twice, three times, then sped away, vanishing into the night in the blink of an eye.

PFFT! PFFT! PFFT!

The three figures in front of Yang Wanli quickly collapsed. Each had a hole in the center of their forehead from which blood gushed. They were dead before they hit the ground.

Everyone present turned pale with shock.

Yang Wanli himself was also startled.

’What was that? How did those three suddenly die? Who attacked?’

He was horrified, but he feigned composure and laughed loudly. ”This Grand General told you! Those who block my path will die!”

His shout worked. Many of the soldiers backed away in fear.

Just as Yang Wanli was about to take the opportunity to break through, Duan Hu suddenly leaped in front of him.

This Commander of the Red Tiger Camp, a Fourth-Grade Cavalry General with profound Martial Arts, was hot-blooded and considered himself part of the Fourth Celestial Calamity. He wouldn’t be intimidated by Yang Wanli. He bellowed, ”Hmph! Putting on a mysterious act. This General isn’t afraid of you! Everyone, attack with me! Cut him down!”

With that, he raised his saber to strike Yang Wanli.

At that very moment, the strange point of light appeared again, piercing through Duan Hu’s body three times in a flash.

PFFT! PFFT! PFFT!

Bloody holes instantly appeared in Duan Hu’s chest, forehead, and throat. His eyes went wide in disbelief. His body then went limp, dissolving into light as he fell.

”Huh? Where’s the Commander!”

”Where did the General go?”

”What happened?”

”The General was assassinated...”

The soldiers immediately fell into chaos. Seeing this, Yang Wanli laughed heartily. He kicked the sides of his Rock Giant Scorpion, which immediately charged forward. It knocked over several people before plunging into the darkness and quickly disappearing from sight.

On the dilapidated gatehouse, Qiao Meng’s eyes were wide with disbelief as he watched Yang Wanli retreat, his heart filled with utter terror.

’Who is that man? So powerful! He killed Duan Hu in the blink of an eye! Thank goodness I didn’t step forward just now, or I might have been killed too!’

He shuddered and silently committed Yang Wanli’s face to memory. ’This is a man I must never provoke!’ he thought.

A hundred meters away, Qin Mo materialized from the shadows of an old locust tree. His face was expressionless as he glanced coldly toward the gatehouse. With a turn, his figure melted back into the night.

It was he who had just acted.

At that very moment, Wang Yi, who was pondering where to explore the next day, suddenly received a system notification: ”Ding! Your subordinate Qin Mo has killed the Chaos Lord Duan Hu. You have gained +6600 Chaos Energy and +200 Lord Experience!”

The sudden system notification startled Wang Yi, but he quickly smiled nonchalantly. He had already anticipated something like this would happen.
