The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 518: Chapter 518- Great Holy Cleansing (5)

Streets were sealed in smooth arcs, and patrols advanced from multiple angles, leaving no blind spots or escape routes.

Demons, being the abominable creatures they were, tried their usual tricks. They cast illusion magic, set up spatial gates, and took hostages. However, the Temple of Light was already used to anything their opponents could throw at them.

Large amounts of Fairy Water were sprinkled in the air to dissolve the illusions the demons cast. Gwen huffed, slowly lowering her sword. The water skill just now was her ability.

Swords cut down the claws before they could reach the hostages. Kevin, Rolan, and Delicia brandished their swords, each utilising the sword technique of the [Holy Blade Arts]. Their faces were solemn and cold, without any naivety.

Spatial gates collapsed under the combined cast of [Radiant Ascension] and other holy skills. Vangeance and Silvia cut off any escape routes the demons could take with ruthless decisiveness.

There was no hope for them other than to offer their necks willingly and go through the trial.

Smoke and screams echoed all around the city. However, within less than two hours, it became silent once again. And by the time the sun dipped behind the mountains, the last traces of corruption had been reduced to drifting ashes.

The city was freed of all demons.

.

From his position in the city square, Reinhardt watched Snowpoint City’s lights glowing warmly against the night frost. Out of all the cities and areas the Temple of Light conducted the cleansing, Snowpoint City suffered the least destruction.

There was no burning district, no collapsed homes, or mass casualties. Of course, the city being the Temple of Light’s base also played a large role. Add that to the loyalty and trust of the citizens, and it was the most ideal outcome.

”Huff” Reinhardt exhaled the breath he had been unknowingly holding all this time. With the demons gone, he could finally relax a little.

While it took over a year, he was definitely making progress on his promise that he gave to Dioanax.

By now, he believed that the other knight orders must have also wrapped up their missions too. This means that almost all of the demons and their servants were eradicated from the Kingdom of Solaris.

It was a great achievement that no one in the history of the long years of mankind could achieve. Yet on this day, one year and two months after his reincarnation, Reinhardt and the knights of Solaris managed to achieve what was impossible.

”My lord, are you going to stay for a while?”

Anastasia questioned. Her words attracted the attention of all the women he was close to. They couldn’t help but glance at him with expectation.

Truth be told, it had been so long since they had been with him, but the situation was such that they could not even hope or think of it. That said, now that he was here, they wanted to be pampered by him and be by his side.

How could Reinhardt not be aware of their intentions? His [Endless Ardor] was also making it hard for him to suppress his libido for a month. That said, duty came first. He would not let it interfere with his mission.

”We still need to report back to the capital.”

Reinhardt shook his head. As exhausted as they were, they would soon have to set out again for the capital after a short rest. The Queen gave them a time limit of a month, and it was slowly drawing closer. There was less than three days remaining.

Considering that it took three days of travel itself to reach the capital, they ought to set out immediately. However, Reinhardt wanted his knights to rest a little before they began travelling again.

This journey, this Great Cleansing, was tougher on one’s spirit than it was on one’s body.

”I will be leaving the city in your care for the time being.” Reinhardt turned towards Melissa, who dutifully bowed her head.

”Leave it to me, my lord.”

He glanced at her slightly weary eyes and questioned, ”Do you blame me?”

Since the news of the incident that occurred in the capital had already reached Snowpoint City, it meant that Melissa was already aware of what went down in the Audience Hall. Even if he was a traitor of humanity, Earl Malmond was still her father.

At those words from Reinhardt, Melissa opened her eyes wide and hurriedly shook her head.

”It’s not like that, my lord. I can never blame you. Father was someone who joined hands with the demons. You simply did your duty. It’s just that... for the past few days, I have been wondering about his reasons for abandoning humanity.”

Her relationship with her father was never that close to begin with. Everything she did, everything she accomplished, was so she could become someone her father would recognise.

However, he never showed her the slightest bit of warmth and kept her at arm’s distance, using her like a pawn.

Ever since she received the news of his demise in the capital, she had not shed a single tear. There was no sadness in her heart, just emptiness.

”I see. Don’t ruin your health worrying too much.” He patted her on the shoulder. Melissa leaned in and rested her head on his breastplate.

Right now, given the situation, everyone was seeking comfort in each other’s arms. As such, the scene was not much unusual.

During this time, while they were resting, he met with various other subordinates and close people of his.

”The theatre is almost reaching completion. I have already talked with my previous crew. They are excited to work with me again. So... when I resume my performance again, I want you to come and watch me.” Eleanor spoke nervously, twiddling her fingers.

The fact that she was able to walk here in the middle of the plaza, filled with people, spoke volumes of her courage. It showed she had already overcome her trauma.
