Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest

“It must be even harsh for just an average person without magic or abilities, to navigate around this new dangerous world,” said Mark. “I feel sorry for them…”

“Do you wish you could help them?” I wondered, looking into his eyes.

Is he thinking about being a superhero or something?

“I… Uh, I don’t know,” he said. “I have power though, a lot… we’ve been growing super strong lately. More soul-bound skills too made us even stronger in this world… My Magic Circle and my Physique are both Tier 3, that’s strong right? I mean… kind of?”

“Yeah, you’re strong Mark,” I nodded. “Equipment and also the bonuses to our strength and stats that soul-bound skills further multiply our base power as well! So yeah, we’re strong… Do you want to help people out there? Like… being part time heroes or something?”

“Nah that sounds so dumb, I guess there’s SWORD and other government organizations that will do that… right?” He wondered.

“Well, maybe, but if this world continues becoming more and more chaotic…” I said. “We might need all the help we can get.”

“Right…” He said. “Do you want to help?”

“Yeah… I’m trying to get stronger too, eventually, I even plan on setting up barriers on as many places as I can, just to make them safer,” I said. “Then I could probably summon spirits and other draconic beasts perhaps? As many as possible, I could set up a whole thing where they wander around cities looking for monsters, protecting people.”

“I-I think that would be too big of a burden for just a single person, Elayne…” He looked worried.

“Hahah, don’t worry, I wouldn’t be doing much myself, it is in the far future anyway, these things would be done automatically. The power of Formations and Barriers is the future,” I said. “Things might only get worse over time, but I want to believe that once we can reach a point of stability… things can improve, and society as a whole could even evolve further… Don’t you think?”

“Evolve further?” Mark was a bit surprised by my words. “I didn’t know you were thinking about such things… I’m a bit surprised. But I like the idea…”

“Well, haha, it’s just some small talk to let time pass,” I shrugged. “Don’t worry, I am not really just planning to do all of this either way… And well, it just what it is…”

I felt a bit dumb, maybe he didn’t like the idea I was thinking?

About a future where magic becomes widespread, and we can fully integrate it with our everyday lives and technology.

Maybe society as a whole can improve, world hunger could end, wars would stop…

We could reach some kind of Utopia…

But maybe that’s also… too idealistic.

“Magic technology sounds cool, I was thinking if it could be possible to travel into space with it,” he suddenly said. “Don’t you think that would be great? Perhaps visiting Mars would finally become a real possibility and not something we haven’t even done yet.”

“Y-Yeah! Right?!” I got excited, realizing he agreed with my dumb imagination. “It would be so cool… But maybe I’ve seen too many movies, hehe…”

As we chatted for hours, we grew a bit tired and hungry, so I looked at Morpheus, who floated in midair, looking into the distance.

“Ah, Morpheus, how long until we get there?”

“We’re almost there but… there’s something, a disturbance.”

“Disturbance?”

I walked to his side with Mark, my daughter and her friends were done taking a break after they sparred for a while too, walking to our side.

Everyone else that was sleeping began to slowly wake up as well, more refreshed… it seemed that as long as we were inside this dream cloud, sleeping wouldn’t be dangerous at least.

“What disturbance?” Katherine wondered, looking into the distance. “hm?! That’s…!”

Although we couldn’t see much from here, she immediately realized what it was, Gardenia and even Ignis also noticed the disturbance, floating by my left and right side.

“Ah yeah, that doesn’t look too nice,” Ignis said.

“I guess you can’t see it, Elayne…?” Gardenia said. “I guess your eyes and everyone else are still not completely adjusted to see through all the layers of our plane.”

“Really? So what’s in there?”

“A Spacetime disturbance,” Morpheus said. “It is twisting space and time within the area, and it covers… everything, it is as if someone set a barrier there that we cannot pass through normally… We’ll need to go around it, and I think I already found a route for it.”

“Spacetime disturbance, I had no idea they were things here, did someone set it up?” I wondered.

“Maybe some nasty bastard that doesn’t want us to get where we’re going,” said Rita with an angered face. “What do you think?”

“I don’t know, do we even have enemies here? Aside from the sorcerers but I doubt they got enough power to do something of such an immense scale… the only others I assume could do this are the Rulers of the Realm, but I don’t think… they are hostile to us?” I wondered. “So I’m quite confused…”

“You’re completely right, this is strange,” said Morpheus. “But let’s think positively… let’s say it is just a natural phenomenon. We’ll have to move to the secondary route.”

“Ugh, how long are we going to stay here?” Elisa complained. “I know it’s safe, but it would have been much more fun to just wander around…”

“It’s too dangerous, we have to be careful!” Morpheus protested. “Now listen to me please. Do you see that giant cloud over there? It’s our only way through… Apparently that cloud is a giant Nightmare Cloud, that pierces through the Spacetime Disturbance, so it leaves a hole we can get through.”

“I-Is it the only way, Morpheus?” I asked.

“Yes… Unless we wander around even further, but we would end up spending days here…” Morpheus sighed.

“Then I suppose there’s no helping it; would our vessels survive the turbulences?” I asked.

“As it is? Most likely not… We might face powerful beings inside, or strange, bizarre sights,” Morpheus said. “We have to reinforce the cloud before entering… and get ready for battle.”

“Nice! Time to test out the new weapons!” Rita was the only one to celebrate, everyone else was too worried.
