Chapter 655: Chapter 731: Watered with Blood

That was the Concentration Fruit Tree!

Chen Nan’s heart brimmed with excitement, having passed through numerous trials, he finally laid eyes on the Concentration Fruit Tree.

Taking large strides, Chen Nan quickly rushed towards the Concentration Fruit Tree.

But!

Upon getting closer, he discovered that not a single fruit hung from the three trees, only three buds, one on each tree.

”This...”

Chen Nan was momentarily stunned.

He had come to pick Concentration Fruit, but the trees had only just blossomed, and the fruits were not yet formed. What was he to do?

Seeing Chen Nan standing there dumbfounded, the Black Feathered Chicken fluttered over: ”Kid, what’s wrong?”

Chen Nan pointed at the flower buds on the three trees without speaking.

”Damn, they haven’t grown yet!”

The Black Feathered Chicken was dumbstruck. The flowers had only just bloomed. How long would they have to wait for the fruits to grow?

Chen Nan was extremely anxious. Suddenly, a flash of insight crossed his mind, and he remembered something.

Back at the bottom of the cliff, Xuan Tianji had told him that the Concentration Fruit was divine medicine that communicated with the spirit. It could only bloom and bear fruit if watered with the fresh blood of two people truly in love with each other. This was also why only he could personally come to fetch the medicine.

”I’ve been foolish!”

Chen Nan took out a long sword and sliced open a cut on his palm, from which blood quickly began to flow.

Thinking of Su Qingqing, Chen Nan poured his blood over one of the Concentration Fruit Trees. Instantly, the bud emitted a radiant light, and white brilliance spread forth, the bud blooming at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Soon, all the petals had fallen, and a heart-shaped fruit appeared before his eyes, crystal clear and about the size of a soybean.

Chen Nan knew that the fruit had only just formed and that he had to wait for it to fully ripen before it could be picked.

He then circulated his Inner Strength, forcing the blood from his wound to spill onto the Concentration Fruit Tree.

As Chen Nan’s blood fell, a myriad of rosy lights shone from the Concentration Fruit Tree, and the Concentration Fruit grew rapidly. In just two minutes, it had reached the size of a thumb, but Chen Nan’s face had turned ghastly pale from too much blood loss.

The original crystal-clear Concentration Fruit, after being nourished by fresh blood, now showed streaks of blood-red color, bearing the essence of Chen Nan’s blood.

”Kid, are you crazy? Stop it right now!”

As Chen Nan continued to bleed, his face unnaturally pale, the Black Feathered Chicken tried to stop him. However, Chen Nan’s cultivation was now much higher than its own. No matter how hard the Black Feathered Chicken tried, it could not move Chen Nan in the slightest.

Chen Nan clenched his teeth and persisted, saying, ”As long as the Concentration Fruit ripens, losing some blood is nothing.”

”Are you a pig? Even if you bleed dry, you can’t make it mature all at once. It has to be done slowly,” the Black Feathered Chicken yelled, but just as it finished speaking, Chen Nan collapsed on the ground with a thud, having fainted.

”You young fool, this is madness!”

The Black Feathered Chicken swore incessantly, bumping its head against Chen Nan’s body a few times, sealed the acupoint to stop the bleeding from his wound, then refined some Spiritual Medicine into a juice and fed it to him.

”Dammit, how did humans produce such an idiot like you, thinking your blood costs nothing! Had I known earlier, I would not have accompanied you and just left you to live or die on your own. Now I have to take care of you. Bloody hell, you’ve made me so angry!”

The Black Feathered Chicken paced back and forth, flapping its wings and pointing at Chen Nan’s nose as it continued to curse and rant, looking utterly ridiculous.

Chen Nan had been unconscious for three whole days.

At noon, three days later, the sun was shining directly overhead when Chen Nan finally woke up groggily.

During these three days, although the Black Feathered Chicken continuously offered him water and refined Spiritual Medicine for him to take, losing too much blood was different from common injuries, and it was difficult to recover in a short period of time.

Chen Nan shook his dazed head and stood up, ”Dead Chicken, how long have I slept?”

”Three days, damn it, your grandpa chicken is exhausted,” the Black Feathered Chicken said with a dejected tone and a hint of annoyance, ”You should rest for a while. That Concentration Fruit isn’t so easy to ripen.”

Looking at the Concentration Fruit, which was only the size of a thumb, Chen Nan nodded.

Since he couldn’t bleed again in a short period of time, Chen Nan chopped some trees outside in the woods and built a Thatched House in the Ningshen Orchard to stay day and night, on watch, just in case.

Half a month later, Chen Nan felt his body had mostly recovered, so he bled himself again to water the plants.

Having learned from the lesson of his previous fainting episode, he measured it well this time, stopping when he reached the limit his body could endure, and the thumb-sized Concentration Fruit grew more than twice as large.

Tearing off a piece of Lingzhi and throwing it into his mouth to chew and swallow, Chen Nan sat down to cultivate.

His cultivation during this period was more arduous than ever because while cultivating, he not only strengthened his physique but also accelerated the replenishment of his lost blood.

After that, Chen Nan would bleed himself once every half a month.

After he had bled three more times, the Concentration Fruit finally ripened, growing to the size of a ping-pong ball and shaped like a heart, translucent and emanating a light red hue.

Though it was nourished with fresh blood, the fruit exuded an enchanting aroma, without a trace of the smell of blood.

After picking the fruit, Chen Nan calculated the time.

It had been more than three months since he left home.

Initially, it took him almost half a month to practice swordsmanship in the forest, and coming to the Ningshen Orchard, it took another two and a half months to pick the Concentration Fruit. Now, it had been three months and five days in total.

What was a cold winter season had now turned into spring in full bloom.

After taking some Spiritual Medicine, Chen Nan did not care about his lack of vital energy and set out with the Black Feathered Chicken.

Back at the Famous Medicine Mountain Villa, the Black Feathered Chicken’s old friend told Chen Nan that the so-called Fifth Level test was to examine his true feelings, to see whether he was willing to use his own blood to water the Concentration Fruit Tree.

Because the Concentration Fruit was Divine Medicine, the tree was sentient. If one’s feelings were not sincere, those flower buds would never bloom or bear fruit, and even if one were to wait for hundreds of years, there would be no change.

Under the guidance of the elder, Chen Nan went to meet the owner of the Famous Medicine Mountain Villa.

After expressing his gratitude, Chen Nan took his leave, eager to return home to see how his girl was doing.

As they descended the mountain, the Black Feathered Chicken said, ”Kid, guess whether that Gongsun girl is still waiting for you at the foot of the mountain?”

Chen Nan shook his head, ”It’s been over three months, she must have left.”

”I bet she definitely hasn’t left, she’s surely still there waiting like a fool,” the Black Feathered Chicken confidently claimed.

Chen Nan shrugged and hurried down the mountain.

Getting to the bottom, Chen Nan saw a new Thatched House built of bamboo and wood not far from the mountain gate, and subconsciously thought of Gongsun Yudie, could it be her waiting for him?.

As Chen Nan was pondering, two young guards from the mountain gate approached him, ”Brother Chen, the lady who came with you before has been taken back by her Sect. Before she left, she asked me to pass on a message to you.”

(Thank you for the generous reward from cherry.)
