Chapter 62 -70: The Little Junior Sister’s Affection

“I heard about this Sect from my sister,” Huo Xinya expressed with some surprise, “Does that mean the person who stole my painting is from the Five Poison Sect?”

“Probably not, the people of the Five Poison Sect are ruthless in their actions; they either don’t strike at all, or they strike to kill. However, the person only used Hua Gong Powder against you, which doesn’t seem like their style,” Chen Nan shook his head and said, “Later, help me draw what that middle-aged man looked like. I’ll figure out a way to find him and get the painting back.”

“Okay, there’s no time to delay, I’ll go draw it now.”

Huo Xinya nodded and turned to head towards the staircase. But Chen Nan suddenly grabbed her, “Wait a minute.”

“What’s wrong?”

Huo Xinya looked at him, puzzled.

Chen Nan scratched his head, looking somewhat awkward as he said, “That… the misunderstanding we had before, it really was a misunderstanding.”

Thinking back to the embarrassing incident that had occurred with Chen Nan a few days ago, Huo Xinya blushed and nodded, “Mm, I believe my sister’s senior is not that kind of person.”

“Then I’m relieved,” said Chen Nan, before frowning slightly, puzzled, “By the way, I remember Yiyi is an orphan and doesn’t have any siblings, how come you call her sister?”

Huo Xinya was silent for a while, her face shadowed with sadness, and said, “My parents died early, and I’ve lived with my grandfather since I was young. Six years ago on a rainy night, Sister Yiyi was severely injured and fainted at our doorstep, and my grandfather saved her. When we asked about her background, we learned she was an orphan, and grandfather took her in as his granddaughter. She’s two months older than me, so I naturally called her sister.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Nan felt heartache, “She suffered a severe injury six years ago?”

Huo Xinya nodded, “At that time, there were no visible wounds on her body, we thought she was sick, but actually she had suffered internal injuries caused by Inner Strength.”

“Thanks to you and your grandfather, otherwise I might never have met her again,” Chen Nan spoke earnestly, “Is your grandfather at home? I’d like to pay my respects after school.”

With a somber expression and her head lowered, Huo Xinya took a while before tearfully saying, “My grandfather… he passed away four years ago.”

So, she too was an orphan.

Seeing Huo Xinya’s grief-stricken face, Chen Nan felt guilty; he wanted to comfort her but Huo Xinya wiped away her tears and managed a smile, “But thankfully, I have Sister. After grandfather passed, she took care of everything for me; if not for her, I probably wouldn’t even be able to afford school.”

Chen Nan knew that his junior sister was highly skilled in martial arts; earning money to support the family was indeed no difficult task for her.

No wonder Huo Xinya was so diligent in her studies; as the saying goes, the children of poor families have to take charge early. As for orphans, they are even more precocious than their peers.

“Don’t be too sad, everything is in the past now. As for Yiyi, I will definitely find her,” Chen Nan said.

“Mm!”

Huo Xinya looked at Chen Nan, bit her lip, and hesitated for a moment before saying, “Before Sister left, she would often cry in her dreams calling for ‘senior brother’ and wake up with her pillow wet. Even though you were both young when you parted, I think that must have been love… you must not let her down.”

Chen Nan’s heart ached, and he nodded, “I know.”

He himself felt the same; ever since he and his junior sister had parted, Chen Nan dreamed of her almost every night. Although he didn’t wake up with a wet pillow, his feelings for his junior sister had never changed.

Remembering the kiss beneath the tree that seemed just like yesterday, those memories, he would never forget for a lifetime.

Seeing Chen Nan’s eyes were slightly moist, Huo Xinya quickly said, “Don’t think too much, we will definitely get the painting back and find Sister. Besides, the two-year deadline is approaching; even if we can’t recover the painting, Sister will come back on her own.”

In just twenty-eight days, two years would have passed. If his junior sister returned that would be wonderful, but if, by some misfortune, she did not return, Chen Nan truly didn’t know how he would face everything.

We must find that painting and figure out where our junior sister really went before the two years are up!

Seeing Chen Nan still hadn’t snapped out of it, Huo Xinya tugged at him, “Stop worrying, sister will be fine. We have a class soon, let’s head back to the classroom.”

Chen Nan nodded and walked with her toward the staircase, “By the way, why have you been taking leave every afternoon these days?”

“I was going home to practice Cultivation, trying to expel the poison from my body, but it’s been several days with no effect at all,” Huo Xinya said with a bitter smile and a shake of her head, “It seems that the poison can’t be forced out. I won’t be taking any more leaves from today and will focus on my studies earnestly.”

“Your Inner Strength has been dissolved, naturally you couldn’t force the poison out, that needs external help.” Chen Nan said.

Huo Xinya suddenly realized, “So that’s why, no wonder I couldn’t gather any Inner Strength all these days.”

Chen Nan also came out of his previous emotions, looked at her, and said, “If you don’t mind, after school I can come over to your place and use my Inner Strength to help force the poison out.”

Huo Xinya’s heart leaped with joy, she said happily, “Thank you!”

“Don’t mention it, I also want to see the place where Yiyi used to live,” Chen Nan said with a smile.

When the two entered the classroom with smiles, chatting, the entire class was instantly shocked.

Chen Nan, this beast, actually managed to win over the class president!

This was what all the boys in the class were thinking.

“Big brother, you’re so awesome!”

Zhu Bajie, sitting at the back of the classroom, raised his thumb and yelled out loud toward Chen Nan.

Awesome?

Chen Nan felt baffled, wasn’t it just talking with Huo Xinya? What’s awesome about that? If other classmates talked to her, given Huo Xinya’s personality, she wouldn’t refuse them either!

However, these thoughts of Chen Nan wouldn’t be accepted by the boys in the class.

They figured, the reason Chen Nan didn’t accept gifts from other girls, or even turn down a date with the school beauty Liu Tiantian, was to show Huo Xinya that he was pretending, because he was after Huo Xinya, this beast wanted to harm the class president!

If Chen Nan knew their thoughts, who knows how he would feel.

Maybe, he would jump up and curse: Fuck, I’m really very pure!

“Big Brother, all the gifts were returned, but there’s still a box of chocolates left that no girl wanted, she insisted on giving it to you, what should we do?” Zhu Bajie came over and spoke loudly, but actually, he wanted Huo Xinya to hear that Chen Nan wasn’t interested in other girls.

Too bad, he thought wrong, Chen Nan and Huo Xinya were truly innocent.

Chen Nan patted Zhu Bajie on the shoulder, “You’ve worked hard, since she won’t take it back then you keep it.”

What do fat guys love the most? Of course, it’s food!

At hearing this, Zhu Bajie’s eyes narrowed into slits, well… it seemed they were already narrowed to slits, and his mouth was watering everywhere. He laughed out loud and hurried back to eat his chocolate.

At that moment, the bell for class rang, and Su Qingqing ran into the classroom and sat down, then kept staring at Chen Nan. Finally, she pouted and accused, “You stinky fool, did you really harm Xinya?”
