Chapter 2607: Chapter 2607: Calling Qin Xia

The first stage involved offering extremely low initial transportation rates and even ”helping” with small loans for farming equipment. At first glance, it looked like a generous opportunity. As a result, the village would gradually stop seeking other buyers or transportation partners, unknowingly tightening the noose around their own necks while believing they had secured a stable and reliable partner.

The second stage was the debt trap. They would slowly introduce the so-called ’hidden fees’ such as fuel surcharges, mountain risk premiums and vehicle wear and tear fees. These charges would appear one after another, carefully calculated and deliberately justified. In the end, they would deduct the money directly from the sales revenue, causing the village’s profit to drop to near zero without the villagers even realising how deeply they had fallen into the trap.

The third stage was bondage. Since the village did not have the money to pay the accumulating debt, they would pressure the village leader to sign the ’Exclusive Supply Contracts’ as a way to settle the mounting obligations. It was no longer a partnership at that point, but it was control disguised as assistance.

In one more year, the villagers would lose their lands as collateral to Sheng Logistics. Then, the village would become a literal farm for Sheng Logistics, stripped of ownership and freedom.

Su Longuo met Manager Kang through someone’s connection. That person also came from the same village, which made Su Longuo lower his guard. However, after a year of signing the contract with Sheng Logistics, that person quietly moved out of the village and began living comfortably in the big city.

At the moment, Su Longuo thought he was just lucky to have earned enough money to move to the city. It turned out that the person had money because of his connection to Manager Kang. He had been secretly paid off after introducing Su Longuo to Manager Kang, serving as nothing more than a middleman in a carefully arranged scheme.

Of course, Su Longuo was angry when he found out about the matter. He immediately tried to call that person to demand an explanation.

However, that person already blocked his number. Not only that, but he had also blocked the numbers of the other villagers when Su Longuo attempted to contact him using different phones from the village. It was clear that the betrayal had been planned in advance.

Manager Kang was very skilled at this kind of work. He had been hired specifically because of his background in underground lending and debt collection. As for Cheng Bolin, who was based in the regional office, he used his corporate authority to bury complaints and falsify audit reports. He ensured that, on paper, the low prices paid to the villagers appeared as nothing more than ”market adjustments,” making everything look legal and justified to outsiders.

Cheng Bolin initially wanted to push Manager Kang forward as the scapegoat if anything went wrong. However, that plan failed because QinYue Group’s legal team reported Sheng Logistics to the National Trade Bureau regarding their predatory contracts and unethical practices.

When the National Trade Bureau received the report, they immediately opened a full investigation into Sheng Logistics. During the investigation, they uncovered numerous wrongdoings within the company, far more than anyone had initially expected.

...

Yu Qi and Long Hui were the last people who left Mianxi Village. This time, Yu Qi was leaving Long Hui with his vehicles.

It was because Yu Qi had something important to handle. She wanted to call Qin Xia to talk about the secret entrance to the cultivation world. She could not discuss such sensitive matters when others were around to overhear them.

She also wanted to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Those fellow cultivators had waited long enough for a chance to return to the cultivation world, and she did not want to delay their hope any further.

She dialled Qin Xia’s number. After only two rings, Qin Xia answered the phone.

A cold and distant voice came from the other end. ”Hello.”

”Hello, Senior Brother Xia.” Yu Qi greeted politely.

”Oh... Yu Qi, what’s up?” Qin Xia spoke.

”Actually, I want to ask for your permission.” Yu Qi stated directly.

”Permission from me? About what?” Qin Xia sounded curious.

”It’s about the secret entrance to the cultivation world at that mountain.” Yu Qi explained.

”What? I think I already gave you my permission to use it whenever you want.” Qin Xia stated.

”I know that. But this time, it will not be only Brother Hui and me who use that secret entrance.” Yu Qi clarified.

”Then, who? Your Dian Family? As far as I know, they have the teleportation device. So, why would they use the secret entrance?” Qin Xia guessed.

”No... It is not them.” Yu Qi replied.

”Are you telling me that you want to bring ordinary human beings into the cultivation world?” Qin Xia’s voice changed noticeably.

”Of course not. They are our fellow cultivators.” Yu Qi immediately denied before explaining the entire situation in detail.

”Fellow cultivators? How do you find them?” Qin Xia was surprised.

”Yes. I went to a remote village and found a group of cultivators. We met and talked. From their story, they were accidentally teleported to the outside world a long time ago. Since then, they have been searching for a way to return to the cultivation world.” Yu Qi explained.

”Are you sure they are not the evil cultivators?” Qin Xia asked cautiously.

”Senior Brother Xia, I am not stupid. I can recognise the evil cultivator when I see one.” Yu Qi stated firmly.

”Fine... Fine... Don’t get mad.” Qin Xia said, trying to calm her. ”They may use it.”
