The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 337: Chapter 336: Sudden Concern

Upon hearing Fei Erya’s words, Yiyi didn’t know what to say. She responded with slight irritation, ”Alright, just rest well for now. Healing is the most important thing, or else when Uncle comes to Shangjing and sees you like this, he’d be upset.”

Fei Erya, upon hearing this, recalled that her father was coming. She quickly looked at Yiyi and said, ”Yiyi, why don’t you call my father and tell him I’m quite busy, so he shouldn’t come.”

Yiyi glanced at Fei Erya and said, ”But what if Uncle asks me why you didn’t make the call yourself, and why I did it instead?”

Hearing this, Fei Erya was at a loss for words. She sighed, saying, ”Then I’ll call Dad after I feel better.”

Right now, she didn’t even have the strength to get up, let alone go out to make a call.

Meanwhile, Gu Tingyu, having taken Fan Qianshu to the police station, began to have him make a statement.

When Wei Zixiao saw Gu Tingyu approach, he quickly said, ”Those guys are being tight-lipped. It’ll probably take some time before we can get a result from the interrogation. Let’s wait a bit longer.”

Gu Tingyu nodded upon hearing this.

At this moment, Wei Zixiao looked around again, saying, ”I recall this guy is from the Fan Family, right? Why did those guys go after him, you think? Ah... no, no, it’s not a robbery. I think they wanted his life. What kind of grudge do they have to go to such lengths?”

Hearing this, Gu Tingyu gave him a sidelong glance and said, ”Alright, focus on your own tasks and don’t meddle in other matters.”

Wei Zixiao shrugged and did not speak further, heading back to the interrogation room.

Meanwhile, Fan Qianshu had already finished making his statement. Upon coming out, he looked straight at Gu Tingyu and said, ”Can I leave now?”

”Just wait a bit more.”

Fan Qianshu frowned at this, saying, ”I am still the victim in this case. Do you intend to detain me?”

”It’s not detaining; it’s just waiting for their interrogation to conclude, so you know what those people were after. If you want to leave first, that’s fine, but during this period, you cannot leave Shangjing. If we need anything, we’ll summon you, and you’ll have to respond immediately.”

Although Fan Qianshu was curious to know who was behind the attack, he primarily wanted to return to the hospital to check on Fei Erya to see if she had regained consciousness. Thus, he nodded directly and said, ”Alright, I understand. I won’t leave Shangjing during this time.”

While they were talking, Wei Zixiao came out again.

”Those guys finally confessed a bit, but the information we got is limited. They just take money to do the job; as long as they’re paid, they’ll act. So as to who hired them, they couldn’t give any specific answers, so we still have to follow their leads and find the person who hired them.”

Hearing this, Gu Tingyu couldn’t help but frown.

Fan Qianshu, however, was not surprised and didn’t seem too disappointed. The other party dared to commit a crime in broad daylight, so they wouldn’t easily leave any clues.

”In that case, I’ll head back first.”

Saying this, Fan Qianshu left directly.

Wei Zixiao raised an eyebrow, looking at Gu Tingyu and said, ”He doesn’t seem curious at all, which is a bit strange. Normally, people in this situation would react differently, right?”

”Alright, we should head back. Today’s extra task is considered complete.”

Wei Zixiao acknowledged and shook his head, saying, ”True, this isn’t really our concern. Let’s not be the ones being overly helpful and end up being misunderstood as meddling.”

Saying this, he waved his hand, signaling the others to head back.

However, upon returning to the base, Wei Zixiao seemed to realize something. He glanced suspiciously at Gu Tingyu and said, ”I remember Fan Qianshu’s partner is a good friend of your missus, right? Are you really not planning to look into this matter?”

Although Gu Tingyu didn’t speak, Wei Zixiao, who knew him well, immediately understood his intention, saying, ”Oh, so you claim it’s none of our business on the surface, but plan to investigate quietly. Be sure to include me; I can help.”

”We’ll see when the time comes,” Gu Tingyu replied, then walked forward directly.

Initially, they just happened to pass by today, and the task was a last-minute one that didn’t really fall to them. But since the young lady was concerned, he naturally planned to investigate thoroughly.

He also sensed that this matter was not simple and warranted a proper investigation.

However, before they could continue, they saw Zhang Li approaching.

”Did you guys go on another task today? I heard you saved two people, one with the last name Fan?”

Upon hearing this, Wei Zixiao curiously looked at Zhang Li and said, ”Why are you suddenly interested in this? Weren’t you not feeling well today and took special leave to skip training? How do you have the time to care about other matters?”

Zhang Li glanced at Wei Zixiao and didn’t bother responding to him; she just looked directly at Gu Tingyu, waiting for his answer.

Gu Tingyu raised an eyebrow subtly and then nodded, saying, ”Yes, that’s true.”

”And where are the two you saved?”

”Since they’re injured, they’re naturally at the hospital.”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Li immediately turned around and walked out.

Observing this, Wei Zixiao turned to Gu Tingyu and asked, ”What do you think... that woman’s intentions are?”

Zhang Li had a high educational background and strong capabilities, which were commendable. That’s why she was invited to be an instructor earlier, but compared to Gu Tingyu, she lacked a bit of experience, which was why the higher-ups put her under Gu Tingyu.

However, it seemed like she was not very convinced by Gu Tingyu, often challenging him. Today was quite strange; she suddenly showed interest in such a temporary task.

Gu Tingyu watched Zhang Li’s distant figure, squinted, and then said to Wei Zixiao, ”Alright, let’s not worry about irrelevant matters.”

Wei Zixiao shrugged and said no more.

On the other side, upon seeing Fan Qianshu return quickly, Yiyi couldn’t help but say, ”You came back pretty fast.”

Meanwhile, Fei Erya, who was on the hospital bed, finally let out a genuine sigh of relief upon seeing that Fan Qianshu was indeed unharmed. But soon she noticed the bandage on Fan Qianshu’s arm, ”What happened to your hand?”

”It’s nothing, just a minor injury. How about you? How are you feeling? Does it hurt anywhere?”

Fei Erya shook her head and said, ”It doesn’t hurt.”

”Weren’t you just saying it hurt a lot? It seems it’s all healed now,” Yiyi commented coolly, casting a sidelong glance at Fei Erya.

Hearing this, Fei Erya blushed slightly, surprised that Yiyi would immediately call her out like that.

”Actually... it only hurts a little bit.”

Fan Qianshu sighed and then gently touched Fei Erya’s cheek, saying, ”If it hurts, just say so. No need to endure it. I’ll ask the doctor later for the best treatment for your injury.”

Hearing Fan Qianshu’s words, Yiyi’s expression finally eased, and she said to him, ”You stay with Er Ya for now. I’ll go get some food.”

However, before Yiyi could leave the room, someone barged in directly, ”Qianshu, are you alright?”

The visitor was none other than Zhang Li.
