For a moment, silence settled between them.

Neither Nero nor Nyx spoke.

The endless darkness surrounding them remained completely still, as though even the world itself was waiting for their next words.

Then Nyx spoke again.

This time, however, she didn’t provide another explanation.

Instead, she raised a question.

”If Fire is the most destructive Law, then what about the Law of Darkness?”

Nero’s crimson eyes narrowed slightly.

He seriously considered the question.

He had never wielded the Law of Darkness himself, so he couldn’t answer based on personal experience.

However, he had encountered many individuals who used it.

There was one example that immediately came to mind.

The clan most renowned for wielding Darkness.

The Raven Clan of the Daemon race.

And among them...

His good friend, Blake Raven.

Nero had witnessed Blake use the Law of Darkness countless times.

He had seen the strange abilities it could produce and how differently it could be applied depending on the situation.

Based on that experience, Nero believed he could give a reasonable answer.

After gathering his thoughts, he finally spoke.

”I believe the Law of Darkness is the more versatile one.”

Nero paused briefly.

”Simply because, when used properly, it can turn its user into a one-man army.”

A smile immediately appeared on Nyx’s face.

Not an amused smile.

A proud one.

A smile filled with satisfaction.

”Good answer.”

Her black eyes gleamed.

”As you’ve said, the Law of Darkness is the most versatile one.”

She leaned slightly forward.

”The one who rules over Darkness... rules over everything.”

Nero remained silent.

”I’m not trying to sell myself simply because I’m the embodiment of this Law.”

Nyx smiled faintly.

”I’m merely stating the truth from my standpoint.”

”So, allow me to elaborate.”

Nero nodded calmly.

He waited.

Nyx raised one hand.

The darkness around her fingertips slowly gathered.

”Darkness corrupts.”

The darkness twisted.

”It swallows.”

The surrounding void seemed to deepen.

”It devours.”

Nero’s expression remained calm as he listened.

”Darkness is capable of making almost anything its own.”

Nyx’s voice remained casual, but every word carried weight.

”The Law of Light gives life.”

Her gaze sharpened.

”Mine can steal it.”

”And enslave it.”

Nero’s eyes narrowed slightly.

”To put it more simply... even death doesn’t necessarily free you from my control.”

Nyx smiled.

”I have authority over death, if you prefer to describe it that way.”

”I can turn the dead into servants and use them for as long as I desire.”

”That is necromancy.”

She paused.

”The version used by the current generation is merely one application of it.”

Nero nodded.

At that revelation, something immediately came to mind.

The Raven Clan.

Their Shadow Undead.

It was an advanced form of necromancy.

Gone were the days when necromancers were limited to controlling piles of bones, ordinary skeletons, and similar creatures.

The Shadow Undead were fundamentally different.

They were far more durable, far more adaptable, and could be controlled through Darkness.

Nero briefly considered the implications.

Then he shook his head.

Those thoughts were distracting him from what Nyx was saying.

He returned his attention to her.

Nyx continued.

”I said earlier that Darkness corrupts.”

”That means it can interfere with the soul.”

”The soul that should naturally proceed toward the cycle of reincarnation can have its path severed.”

Nero’s eyes became slightly sharper.

”I can swallow that soul.”

Nyx’s smile widened.

”And turn it into a servant that obeys my commands.”

”For eternity.”

The words echoed through the darkness.

Nero remained silent.

Nyx raised another finger.

”And when I say Darkness devours...”

Her expression became slightly more serious.

”I mean it literally.”

”A true ruler of Darkness can swallow almost anything and make it their own.”

Nero’s eyes narrowed.

”The simplest example would be devouring the ability of the dead and making it yours.”

”But it doesn’t end there.”

Nyx’s black eyes gleamed.

”You can also devour the abilities of the living.”

A brief silence followed.

”Take them.”

”Absorb them.”

”Make them yours.”

Nero’s eyes widened slightly.

For the first time since entering the black star, genuine surprise appeared clearly on his face.

He had never considered such a possibility.

No...

It wasn’t simply that he had never considered it.

Even the clans that had wielded the Law of Darkness for millennia had never truly understood this aspect of it.

They had only scratched the surface.

They had learned to manipulate shadows.

They had learned to create undead.

They had learned to corrupt and conceal.

But the true essence of Darkness was something far more fundamental.

Devouring.

Taking what wasn’t yours...

And making it yours.

Nero’s crimson eyes flickered.

Now he understood.

The abilities commonly associated with Darkness were merely applications of a much deeper principle.

Corruption.

Swallowing.

Devouring.

Possession.

All of them stemmed from the same fundamental concept.

Darkness didn’t merely conceal things.

It claimed them.

Nyx watched Nero’s expression carefully.

Then a small smile appeared on her face.

She had finally managed to break his usual deadpan expression.

A tiny achievement.

But an achievement nonetheless.

She seemed quite pleased with herself.

Then she leaned back into her chair.

”So...”

Her voice carried a hint of amusement.

”Are you ready to inherit it?”

Nyx’s black eyes gleamed as she looked directly at Nero.

”Are you ready to show the world who the true ruler of Darkness is?”

Nero stared at her for a moment.

Then he nodded.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

”Yes.”

He was already looking forward to it.

The possibilities were already beginning to form inside his mind.

The Law of Darkness wasn’t simply another Law.

Its versatility alone was astonishing.

And if Nyx’s explanation was accurate, then its true potential had barely been touched by the generations that came before him.

Nero’s crimson eyes slowly narrowed.

For the first time, he began looking at Darkness differently.

Not as an element.

Not merely as a Law.

But as another weapon.

And he intended to make full use of it. Another law would be unleashed, this time he would turn into one man army.
