Primordial Heir: Nine Stars

The forest around Nero was a nightmare given form. The trees rose like twisted fingers, their branches gnarled and black, their leaves a sickly shade of grey. The air was thick, heavy with ambient prana, so dense that it felt almost suffocating—a normal person would have choked on it, their lungs unable to process the raw energy that saturated every breath. But Nero was no normal person. He was the heir to prana, the one who could feel its flow, its rhythm, its pulse. To him, the thick energy was a comfort, a reminder of his connection to the world.

He had chosen a different path than the others. Instead of hunting in bulk, killing everything in sight, he had opted for quality. He spread his senses, letting his awareness flow outward like ripples on a pond. He could feel the monsters, their prana signatures burning like beacons in the darkness. The weak ones were easy to ignore. The strong ones, the ones that radiated power like a furnace, were his targets.

It was how he had arrived at his current location.

The clearing before him was empty, save for the creature that stood at its center. It was massive, towering nearly four meters tall, its body a grotesque tapestry of muscle and scarred flesh. Its head was that of a goat—bestial, with two curved horns that spiraled upward like twisted spears. Its eyes were filled with madness, a primal fury that burned with ancient rage. Its body was ripped, every muscle defined, covered in countless scars that spoke of countless battles. A thick, serpentine tail lashed behind it, striking the ground with enough force to crack the earth.

In its hands, it held a massive blade, its edge wreathed in flames that flickered and danced with an unnatural hunger. The air around the creature shimmered with heat, the ground beneath its feet blackened and cracked.

A Minotaur. A+ rank. Equal to a peak Red Knight, perhaps even a low-level Purple Knight. And it wielded the Law of Fire.

The monster’s eyes fixed on Nero, and it let out a roar that shook the trees, a sound of pure, unfiltered rage. But it did not charge. It stood its ground, its grip tightening on its blade, its eyes narrowing with something that might have been intelligence.

It was smart. It had noticed what Nero was, had sensed the danger radiating from him. It did not attack blindly. It waited, assessing, calculating.

Nero met its gaze, his expression calm, his sword held loosely at his side. He could feel the heat radiating from the creature, the raw power of its flames. It was a worthy opponent. A true test of his abilities.

”Good,” he murmured, his voice low. ”This will be interesting.”

The Minotaur’s eyes gleamed with madness. It raised its blade, the flames roaring in response. The air grew hotter, the ground cracking under the intensity of the heat.

Nero stepped forward, his own sword catching the light. He would face this monster head-on, with nothing but his skill and his will. The battle was about to begin.

The stalemate stretched between them like a wire pulled taut. The Minotaur’s eyes burned with maddening fury, its flaming blade casting flickering shadows across the clearing. Nero stood motionless, his expression calm, his breathing steady. The air between them crackled with tension, hot and cold currents swirling in a dance of impending destruction.

Then Nero moved.

His body underwent a transformation. His dark blue hair shifted, turning stark white, as if bleached by an inner frost. His ominous red eyes, already striking, gained something new—a white cross-shaped form that bloomed within his pupils, intricate and cold. He exhaled, and white mist spread from his lips, curling around him like a living shroud.

The ground beneath his feet began to freeze. Frost spiderwebbed outward, cracking the earth, spreading through the clearing. The temperature plummeted, the air growing sharp and biting. The Minotaur’s flames flickered, dimmed, then roared back to life, fighting against the encroaching cold. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Nero was no longer just a knight. He was the embodiment of his Law—not the external domain that other Purple knights deployed, but an internal one. He had chosen a different path. He had become the Law itself. Just as he had transformed into lightning, he now transformed into water and ice.

He gathered prana in his hand, the cold condensing into solid form. A longsword of ice materialized in his grip, its surface gleaming with an ethereal light. The blade was sharp, deadly, forged from the essence of frost itself.

He vanished.

The Minotaur’s eyes widened. It sensed the shift, the sudden absence of presence. Nero reappeared behind it, his ice sword already swinging. The Minotaur reacted with instinct born of countless battles. It spun, its flaming blade meeting the ice sword in a shower of sparks and steam.

The clash was cataclysmic. Fire and ice collided, the opposing forces creating a shockwave that flattened the surrounding trees. The ground beneath them cracked, split, cratered. The air was filled with the hiss of evaporating frost and the roar of dying flames.

The Minotaur was pushed back, its hooves digging trenches in the earth. It stared at Nero, its eyes wide with shock. It had felt the power behind that strike, the sheer force of the ice. This human was not ordinary. He was a monster in his own right.

But the Minotaur was no coward. It roared, a sound of pure defiance, and lunged forward. Its blade came down in a blazing arc, the flames intensifying, hungry for destruction. Nero parried, his ice sword meeting the fiery blade with a resonant clang. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the air, and the ground beneath them gave way, crumbling into a crater.

They clashed again and again, their blades singing through the air. Fire and ice spiraled around them, a maelstrom of opposing forces. Nero’s movements were fluid, unhurried, his expression calm. He was enjoying this. The Minotaur was strong, skilled, a worthy opponent. It gave its all, pouring fury and strength into every strike.

The forest around them was destroyed. On one side, an inferno raged, the trees blackened and blazing. On the other, an ice desolation, the ground frozen solid, the trees encased in crystalline frost. The clearing had become a battlefield of extremes, a testament to the power of their clash.

The Minotaur fought with everything it had. Its muscles bulged, its flames roared, its blade descended with devastating force. But Nero was relentless. His ice sword met every blow, his body moving with a grace that belied his strength. He was not just fighting. He was learning, adapting, growing.

The Minotaur’s madness deepened. It refused to be undone, refused to die. Its eyes blazed with berserk fury, and its control over the Law of Fire became erratic, wilder. Its flames intensified, the heat so intense that the ground beneath it began to melt.

Nero’s eyes narrowed. He had seen enough.

He raised his ice sword, and his eyes glowed with an ominous light. The white cross in his pupils flared, and he focused his will on the Minotaur. He could see the flow of prana, the threads of power that connected the monster to its Law. He reached out with his eyes, his mind, his will, and he cut.

The Minotaur’s flames flickered, sputtered, and died. Its blade, once wreathed in fire, became a dull, lifeless piece of metal. Its connection to the Law of Fire had been severed, its access to prana cut off.

The creature’s eyes widened in shock, its berserk fury replaced by a moment of pure terror.

Nero moved.

His ice sword traced a perfect arc, and the Minotaur was bisected. Its body separated, frozen solid before it could even fall. It toppled, shattering into a thousand icy fragments.

The clearing fell silent.

Nero stood amidst the destruction, his ice sword still in his hand. His white hair faded back to its original dark blue, the cross in his pupils receding. He was exhausted, his body bruised, his muscles aching. But his super regeneration was already at work, knitting flesh, sealing wounds.
