Chapter 6707: Awakening the Sacred Item

Xiahou Jue’s death left many in tears. Were it not for his sacrifice, they might have never learned about Chu Feng’s real identity and saved him.

Baili Zilin suddenly recalled something. He opened his palm and formed a hand seal. A figure fell out from his palm.

It was the Netherworld Envoy who had implanted a Netherworld Embryo inside Chu Feng, brought Song Yun into the Netherworld Sect, and duped him into activating the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar.

Chu Feng was taken aback. He had thought that the Netherworld Envoy was dead.

The Netherworld Envoy was confused. He had no idea what had happened as he had been trapped inside Baili Zilin’s realm all this while. The last thing he remembered was Chu Feng leaving after awakening the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar, and Baili Zilin attempting to take the credit for that.

He had spent his days in anguish afterward, trapped inside a blank realm devoid of day and night.

He didn’t expect to be released all of a sudden, not to mention that he was now standing in the presence of so many powerful figures that someone of his stature wouldn’t be qualified to come into contact with.

The moment he spotted Chu Feng, he became extremely agitated. He thought that Chu Feng was in danger.

“Run, Chu Feng!”

He anxiously turned to the six neutral elders and exclaimed, “Milords, I don’t know what Lord Zilin has told you, but please allow me to speak. This concerns the Netherworld Sect’s future...”

The Netherworld Sectmembers chuckled. Even Chu Feng smiled.

The Netherworld Envoy was confused.

“You want to tell us that Chu Feng awakened the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar, right?” Ting Yun asked.

“Milord... y-you already know?” The Netherworld Envoy was taken aback.

“Not only do we know that Chu Feng was the one who awakened the altar, but we also know now that Chu Feng is Lord Netherworld Master’s grandson, our young master,” Ting Yun replied.

“Ah?” The Netherworld Envoy was astonished. Then, he shook his head in dismay and sighed. “I must be hallucinating after being trapped for too long.”

It was one thing for the Netherworld Sect to find out that Chu Feng had awakened the altar, but it seemed hopelessly optimistic for Chu Feng to be their young master on top of that. That didn’t sound plausible to him. He thought that it was dreaming.

“Elder, I’m glad that you’re fine,” Chu Feng walked up to the Netherworld Envoy and said.

His fate with the Netherworld Sect started because of this Netherworld Envoy. However, this was no time to reminisce about the past, since a greater threat was currently approaching them.

His previous plan was to pit his life against Jie Tianran, but now, there was an alternative option—the Netherworld Sect’s sacred item. At his command, the Netherworld Sectmembers made their way toward the sacred item.

Chu Feng had regained his Netherworld Embryo’s energy after Dongfang Hansong’s formation came undone, so he was not worried about running out of energy when awakening the sacred item.

Along the way, the Netherworld Sect continued to slaughter the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s members. They handed all the treasures and origin energies gathered to Chu Feng.

Chu Feng accepted them. By now, he had gathered a huge amount of origin energies, which was definitely enough for Eggy to advance to Heavenly God level.

But Eggy continued to refine the origin energies without assimilating them.

...

By the time Chu Feng reached the sacred item, he was already brought up to date about the situation.

He learned that the sacred item had played an important role in confirming Chu Feng’s identity as the Netherworld Master’s grandson. Still, it was a different matter to witness it in person.

The most excited person was still the Netherworld Envoy, especially after confirming that he was neither dreaming nor hallucinating.

“I didn’t expect Chu Feng to be Lord Netherworld Master’s descendant.”

When he looked at the blood-red words above the sacred item and Chu Feng, his body began trembling uncontrollably, and tears streamed from his eyes. He was happy not because of the rewards he would receive, but that he had brought back the Netherworld Master’s descendant. He thought that there was no greater honor than that.

“Young master, we can construct a formation to strengthen your Netherworld Embryo,” Cang Li proposed.

“That’s not needed. Tell the others to step back.”

Cang Li relayed the order, and the Netherworld Sectmembers retreated. It was as if they had become spectators. Only Chu Feng stood before the gigantic black gate.

Boom!

Chu Feng took a step forward, and the black gate shook.

A shocking sight happened.

The black gate, which the Netherworld Sect had been desperately trying to open, began swiftly opening on its own accord. But before the crowd could see what was inside the gate, a powerful surge of blood-red aura gushed out from within.

The Netherworld Sectmembers wailed in agony.

Just coming into contact with the blood-red aura inflicted tremendous pain to the Netherworld Embryos, and the pain quickly spread to the rest of their body.

Those who were coping better, like Baili Xukong and the others, widened their eyes in shock. They endured the pain and continued keeping an eye on Chu Feng. They were worried about him and were ready to swoop in whenever needed to save him.

Yet, Chu Feng was perfectly fine even though he should have been in the most pain.

“Those who can’t withstand it can retreat further,” Chu Feng said.

“Retreat,” Baili Xukong ordered.

The further away they were from the door, the weaker the backlash they experienced. Experts like Baili Xukong, the six neutral elders, and Wuma Hanshuang didn’t need to retreat too much before they were no longer affected by the blood-red aura.

Most Netherworld Sectmembers had to retreat several hundred meters more before they could cope.

All of them looked at Chu Feng in awe. They shuddered to imagine the sheer pressure they would have to face if they were standing in Chu Feng’s position. They probably wouldn’t have been able to muster the energy to retreat.

“Our young master must have foreseen the change in the sacred item. That’s why he told us to retreat,” Ting Yun said.

“Ah? He’s able to foresee that as well?” Lie Shan blurted out in disbelief.

“Our young master’s capabilities transcend our imagination. He’s a different breed from us,” Cang Li said.

“Is this how it feels to be on the same side as our young master? It feels like we have found our backbone,” Jimo Qianzhou remarked.

Baili Xukong didn’t say a word, but he looked at Chu Feng with admiration.

Chu Feng stepped through the black gate and was transported into another space.

The space was desolate and devoid of life. There were countless stars, but none of them were shining. It resembled the Immemorial Cemetery, but it was even more eerie. The surroundings were not pitch-black but blood red.

A pair of humongous eyes suddenly opened in the distance and looked at Chu Feng.

Words couldn’t even begin to describe its size. It felt as if this space itself was its body.

“What a pity,” a powerful, deep voice reverberated.

It was the same voice that had berated Baili Xukong and the Netherworld Sectmembers when they previously attempted to awaken the sacred item.
