Martial God Asura

Chapter 6703: Loyalty

Meanwhile, Baili Xukong, along with his new faction and Dongfang Hansong’s conservative faction, were kneeling before a towering black gate that was over a hundred thousand meters in height.

This was the Netherworld Sect’s sacred item.

The Netherworld Sectmembers channeled the power of their Netherworld Embryos through the black bracelets toward the sacred item. Under the tug of their power, the black gate had already opened by half.

All of them clenched their jaws in hardship, including Baili Xukong. They knew that their efforts would be in vain if they failed to open the sacred item, but the feat was proving harder than they had expected.

“Hold on! Victory is already in sight!” Baili Xukong shouted, but it did little to raise morale.

He had already said those words many times. Yet, the black gate was slowly closing despite their desperate attempt to open it. They could still perk themselves up and force themselves to persist, but they were so exhausted now that it was beyond them.

“Why is the sacred item so hard to awaken?”

Even Baili Xukong was feeling despondent.

They had been able to open the sacred item by a larger degree back when the black bracelets were still incomplete, which was why he was certain that they would succeed now that the black bracelets were in their complete forms.

Yet, they felt even more pushback from the sacred item this time around. They weren’t even able to open it to the same degree as before.

“Fools,” a voice that sounded like it had come from hell echoed from the sacred item.

The crowd felt their Netherworld Embryos jolting in response to the voice. None of them had heard this voice before, but somehow, it felt like it was summoning them.

Boom!

The black gate suddenly closed.

The Netherworld Sectmembers collapsed to the ground from exhaustion. They had failed to awaken their sacred item. However, there was something that loomed heavier than their failure.

“Milord, I heard a voice from within the sacred item scolding us,” Jimo Qianzhou said.

“I heard it as well,” Wuma Hanshuang added.

“Father, I heard as well,” Baili Zilin said.

All of the Netherworld Sectmembers present expressed that they had heard the voice. This greatly delighted Baili Xukong, who thought that he had been hearing things. The sacred item might have been scolding them, but this was a good sign.

“There is no need to be disheartened. This is the first time the sacred item has answered us, which means that we are only a step away from awakening it,” Baili Xukong said.

Just then, a jarring explosion that resembled a furious roar could be heard from within the sacred item. It caused the surrounding space to quake intensely.

This quake didn’t hurt any of the Netherworld Sectmembers, but it robbed them of their balance. Even Baili Xukong fell to his knees.

The blood-red aura shrouding the sacred item began gathering above the black gate to form massive words. The eyes of Baili Xukong and the others lit up. They could already decipher the message before all the words were formed.

It was a clue from the sacred item.

The sacred item has appeared due to the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar...

Baili Xukong trembled in glee. He immediately turned to his son, Baili Zilin.

If the sacred item had appeared due to the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar, the key to awakening the sacred item must be the person who had been recognized by the altar. And that person was none other than his son!

The others also came to the same conclusion, including Baili Zilin.

Faced with expectant looks from the crowd, Baili Zilin felt incredibly conscience-stricken.

He knew that the one who received the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar’s recognition was not him but Chu Feng.

The sacred item continued to reveal more words.

Only the one who awakened the altar can awaken the sacred item, and that person is the descendant of the last Netherworld Master.

Baili Xukong was dumbstruck.

This doesn’t make sense. Baili Zilin is my son. He wasn’t even born when Lord Netherworld Master first left, so there’s no way I could have been cuckolded by Lord Netherworld Master. Why does the sacred item’s clue say that the one who awakened the altar is Lord Netherworld master’s descendant?

There’s no way the sacred item is wrong, right?

Baili Zilin trembled in fear. His face turned pale, and sweat flowed down his back. His eyes turned bloodshot from sheer nervousness. He immediately knew what was going on, and he also understood that there was no way for him to continue his lie.

“Father!” Baili Zilin kneeled before Baili Xukong.

“What are you doing, Zilin?” Baili Xukong panicked.

He was still wondering if Baili Zilin was the Netherworld Master’s son due to some convoluted circumstances.

“I was wrong, father. I wasn’t the one who awakened the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar that day.” Baili Zilin’s eyes were reddened with regret.

“Who could it be if not you?” Baili Xukong asked.

Everyone stared intently at Baili Zilin.

“It was Chu Feng,” Baili Zilin replied.

“What?!”

That revelation shocked everyone.

“LORD BAILI XUKONG!”

Just then, Chen Hui’s voice echoed from afar. His face was visibly paler, and he was already shouting anxiously even though he was still a distance away.

“Lord Baili Xukong, Dongfang Hansong lied to everyone. Lord Cang Li was right. Chu Feng’s grandfather is Lord Netherworld Master. Chu Feng is Lord Netherworld Master’s descendant! Lord Xiahou Jue is desperately stalling Dongfang Hansong to buy time for me to relay this news to you. He won’t last long at this rate!”

Baili Xukong, Wuma Hanshuang, Jimo Qianzhou, and the others anxiously rose into the air to face Chen Hui.

Baili Xukong took out Xiahou Jue’s life token—it hadn’t shattered, but it was covered in cracks. This showed that Xiahou Jue was dying.

“Chen Hui, are you speaking the truth?” Baili Xukong asked grimly.

“I wouldn’t dare to lie about this!” Chen Hui said. He noticed the words above the sacred item and immediately pointed at it, saying, “Look there! Isn’t the sacred item saying the same thing as well?”

Baili Zilin kneeled before Baili Xukong once more. “Father, I witnessed Chu Feng awaken the altar in person. There is no doubt. He is Lord Netherworld Master’s descendant. I was a fool. Why didn’t I think about it earlier? Chu Feng’s Netherworld Embryo is so powerful, and he was even able to control the sacred item. The sacred item appeared after he awakened the altar. That couldn’t have been a coincidence. Chu Feng is Lord Netherworld Master’s descendant!”

Tears and snot of regret flowed down his face.

“Milord, the matter must be true. Everything fits together if Chu Feng is Lord Netherworld Master’s descendant, our young master,” Jimo Qianzhou said.

Baili Xukong looked conflicted. Even his breathing became hastened. It was rare for him to be so discomposed.

Baili Ziling grabbed Baili Xukong’s leg and urged, “Father, if not for Lord Netherworld Master, there wouldn’t have been our Netherworld Sect today. You can’t let Lord Netherworld Master down just because of me!”

Those words infuriated Baili Xukong, and veins popped from his temples. He kicked Baili Zilin away and drew his God Armament saber. “What do you mean? Are you doubting my loyalty to Lord Netherworld Master? If not for your accursed lie, I would have never been misled. I nearly caused the death of Lord Netherworld Master’s descendant because of you! I’ll first execute you before ending my own life to atone for the crimes I have done to the young master!”

Baili Xukong raised his God Armament saber.

Wuma Hanshuang, Jimo Qianzhou, and the others quickly hugged Baili Xukong to stop him. They knew about his loyalty and admiration for the Netherworld Master. He wouldn’t hesitate to kill his own son for the Netherworld Master.

“Calm down, milord! Killing young master Zilin won’t change the situation!”

“Milord, we should let the young master decide how to punish young master Zilin!”

“Indeed! The important thing right now is to ensure the young master’s safety!”

The crowd anxiously dissuaded Baili Xukong from making a reckless move.

Even Dongfang Hansong’s subordinates joined in as well. They had been guarded against Baili Xukong, especially since they were from the conservative faction, but things were different now. Their stances had changed upon learning that Chu Feng was their young master.

To hell with the new faction and the conservative faction! Their masters were no longer Dongfang Hansong or Baili Xukong. They only had one master now—Chu Feng.

“Right, the young master!” Baili Xukong regained his composure.

But fury blazed in his eyes once more, and his killing intent was stronger than ever. He thought about everything the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion had done to Chu Feng.

“Screw them!” he spat. He raised his God Armament saber and roared, “Heed my orders, Netherworld Sectmembers! The Seven Realms Sacred Mansion brazenly oppressed our young master. From this moment onward, they are our enemies. Kill their people on sight. Show no mercy!”

Cold gleams flashed across space.

The Netherworld Sectmembers drew their weapons and answered resoundingly, “Kill the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion!”
