Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2312: Chapter 1753: Attending the Banquet

That evening, Bai Xiaosheng, along with Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, went to Hou Yuncheng’s house for a dinner party as promised. Hou Yuncheng lived in an old residential area, but the surroundings seemed decent. At the entrance, there was an elderly man with a red armband drinking tea. People coming and going greeted him, and he responded kindly, looking like the gatekeeper.

As Bai Xiaosheng and the others entered, they naturally greeted the elderly man. Upon hearing they were looking for Hou Yuncheng and learning they were from a company rather than a government office, the elderly man frowned and turned a bit cold, asking many detailed questions without allowing them to pass.

Back and forth, the elderly man almost drove Lin Weiwei mad, aggravating her in the process.

When visiting someone, Bai Xiaosheng and the others naturally brought some gifts, but it was just some seasonal fruits, nothing important.

The elderly man wanted to check them, and Lin Weiwei was stubbornly refusing despite persuasion from Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying.

That young lady could be as stubborn as the elderly man.

In the end, Hou Yuncheng came to fetch them.

Facing the elderly man, Hou Yuncheng respectfully called him ”old leader” with a smile on his face.

Finally, Bai Xiaosheng and the others let the elderly man examine their items before proceeding.

Throughout the process, Hou Yuncheng was extremely respectful to the elderly man, who seemed to have an even larger presence than Hou Yuncheng himself.

Once the misunderstanding was clarified and it was known that Bai Xiaosheng and the others weren’t there to deliver gifts, the elderly man even apologized to Lin Weiwei, leaving her a bit embarrassed.

Seeing how respectful Hou Yuncheng was to the elderly man, Lin Weiwei, on her initiative, picked some fruits meant for Hou Yuncheng and left them for the elder.

Before the elderly man could react, they quickly left.

As Hou Yuncheng led Bai Xiaosheng and the others inside, he couldn’t help but mention the elderly man at the entrance, ”Here, the housing is allocated by the unit, and most of the residents in this area are civil servants. The elderly man at the entrance is my former director, an old revolutionary, a very upright man. After retiring, he could have had better benefits but chose to guard the entrance of this area.”

Hou Yuncheng paused, exclaiming, ”The old leader once told me that he’s not guarding the gate, but the last line of defense for the people living here!”

Hou Yuncheng pointed at the fruits Lei Ying was carrying and smiled, ”So when you mentioned being from a company and bringing gifts, he naturally had to strictly check if there were any hidden items.”

Bai Xiaosheng and the others were filled with respect upon hearing this.

”I was really impolite just now,” Lin Weiwei felt increasingly guilty hearing this.

”But in the end, you did well!” Hou Yuncheng smiled, giving Lin Weiwei a thumbs up.

Only then did Lin Weiwei smile, feeling slightly better.

”Next time, don’t be so impulsive. Once you’re mad, even Lei Ying and I can’t persuade you,” Bai Xiaosheng laughed, trying to ease the tension.

Lin Weiwei quickly nodded.

”You’re a very reasonable leader,” Hou Yuncheng joked with Bai Xiaosheng with a smile.

Everyone laughed.

As they chatted, Bai Xiaosheng and the others learned that Director Hou had recently been promoted to a deputy director position.

The three quickly congratulated him, but Hou Yuncheng joked that with the promotion only came more responsibilities, and he dreamt of having a day to sleep in peacefully.

Amidst laughter and conversation, they finally arrived at Hou Yuncheng’s home.

It was a three-bedroom apartment, not big, but elegantly and warmly decorated. Hou Yuncheng’s wife was a middle school teacher, with a wall full of honors. She was a gentle and intellectual woman. The couple warmly welcomed Bai Xiaosheng and the others. Lin Weiwei went to help Hou Yuncheng’s wife prepare dinner, and the two women quickly got acquainted, liking each other.

Seeing Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying being well-spoken, the elder sister-in-law was quite impressed as well.

And so, they enjoyed a simple yet sumptuous dinner together.

Laughter continued throughout the meal.

After dinner, Lin Weiwei proactively helped Hou Yuncheng’s wife clean the kitchen.

Lei Ying was interested in the flowers on the balcony and the floral books in the living room since his wife, Zi Yue, also liked them. The Hou couple told him not to be formal and feel free to read and admire the plants.

Meanwhile, Bai Xiaosheng was invited by Hou Yuncheng to the study to discuss some business matters.

In the study, with the door closed, Bai Xiaosheng and Hou Yuncheng each held a cup of tea, sitting opposite each other.

”Sheng, you caused quite a stir going to South America and North America recently, especially your North American trip made global news,” Hou Yuncheng humorously remarked.

In private, they could speak more freely, and since Hou Yuncheng was older, Bai Xiaosheng invited him to call him ”Sheng” for a more intimate touch.

”Yes, it was quite the uproar, all business troubles, but fortunately, everything was resolved,” Bai Xiaosheng replied with a smile.

”You gained a lot, I’ve heard. You brought back a lot of big trade deals, benefiting not only your Zhenbei Group but also a large number of companies like Tengyun, Beifeng, and Haoyu who will share the benefits!” Hou Yuncheng chuckled, ”You could say, Bai Xiaosheng, that you contributed significantly to the development of many companies and industries. As someone working in economic development, I should thank you!”

Bai Xiaosheng chuckled, ”I can’t take all the credit for that! I’m just doing my job. If it can also benefit society and industries, it is my honor!”

Bai Xiaosheng spoke sincerely, from the heart.

Hou Yuncheng nodded appreciatively, ”That’s the attitude a successful person should have!”

Vision determines height, but it’s important not to speak just hollow words. This is why Hou Yuncheng appreciates Bai Xiaosheng.

”Sheng, I asked you here to discuss something with you.” Hou Yuncheng’s smile slightly faded as he spoke seriously, ”At the end of this month... well, in just over half a month’s time, I will lead a group of domestic entrepreneurs to several African countries for inspections and to promote business cooperation. I would like to invite you to join us. What do you think!”

Bai Xiaosheng was surprised.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

”Once your company establishes cooperation with African enterprises, we can offer you more favorable policies. However, you must ensure that the products or services you provide are top-notch. You represent not just yourself, but the image of our country!” Hou Yuncheng spoke solemnly to Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng put down his teacup, straightened his posture, and earnestly said to Hou Yuncheng, ”You can rest assured, sir. In cooperation, trustworthiness is my cornerstone!”

Bai Xiaosheng rarely appeared this serious.

Seeing Bai Xiaosheng like this, Hou Yuncheng laughed, ”I trust you, otherwise, I wouldn’t have invited you to my home to talk.”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled brightly.

”Sheng, you are a unique entrepreneur. Not only do you have Zhenbei Group’s resources, but you also have alliances with top companies like Tengyun, Beifeng, Haoyu, and even several major families in Xianggang. I’ve come to understand your character, which I find very credible. That’s why you were the first person I thought of. I am very much looking forward to working with you!” Hou Yuncheng said sincerely.

Bai Xiaosheng smiled, ”If you’re talking about my allies, they are not just Tengyun and the others now. My current allies also include Jia Group, Ziyu Group, Wanhu Group... and I dare say, I can rally them to do things together!”

Currently, in certain fields, Bai Xiaosheng has undoubtedly become a leader in the business world!

”All those companies have formed alliances with you?!” Hearing this, Hou Yuncheng couldn’t help but look at Bai Xiaosheng with amazement.

Those are all top-tier companies like Tengyun!

This young man, with a calm demeanor, spoke astonishing words.

It’s truly incredible that such a young person like Bai Xiaosheng can become a leader in the business arena!

Hou Yuncheng felt a sense of admiration and joked, ”It seems that this meal I’ve arranged is quite simple; at the very least, it should have a few more dishes to match your current status.”

”There’s always a next time.” Bai Xiaosheng joked.

The two exchanged a hearty laugh.

After the laughter subsided, Bai Xiaosheng said to Hou Yuncheng, ”Actually, to be honest, even without this opportunity, I planned to seek more cooperation in Africa! Because our Zhenbei Group is established there, and there are numerous enterprises, the opportunities are plentiful. I just visited South America and North America, thinking of taking a short break to digest the major deals from the Americas trip.”

”Then, does this disrupt your plans?” Hou Yuncheng asked.

Bai Xiaosheng shook his head, ”Not really, it doesn’t. When I returned, I inadvertently established contact with the Jia Group and others, and I thought of sharing some collaborations with them to strengthen our alliance relationship. Additionally, it’s more suitable for them to take on some industry-business, making it a win-win situation.”

Bai Xiaosheng’s remarks earned Hou Yuncheng’s admiration, as he nodded in agreement.

A businessman without a broad vision is doomed not to go far.

Someone as young as Bai Xiaosheng, who still possesses such foresight, truly has limitless potential!

”Come on, let’s chat casually; we can discuss any industry, trends, or directions. Even if it’s just exploratory communication. But rest assured, my lips are sealed. I won’t reveal a single word of things I shouldn’t say.” Hou Yuncheng said with a smile.

Despite speaking casually, this person is well-versed in the national and even global economic trends—a conversation with him will undoubtedly be enriching.

Bai Xiaosheng immediately perked up and began to chat with Hou Yuncheng.

The conversation lasted for two hours.

As night fell, Hou Yuncheng still had work to attend to, and the topic came to a close.

Though Bai Xiaosheng didn’t gain much inside information, his perspective was elevated to a new level.

Hou Yuncheng also enjoyed the conversation.

Finally, the two emerged from the study, and Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying were already waiting in the living room.

Bai Xiaosheng bid farewell, and Hou Yuncheng and his wife accompanied them downstairs to wave goodbye.

When Bai Xiaosheng and the other two left the community, Lin Weiwei specifically apologized to the gate elderly.

The elderly man laughed heartily and told the young girl that the fruit was sweet and that she’s welcome to bring more next time, as he would never refuse.

The elderly man said this deliberately to ease Lin Weiwei’s sense of guilt.

Lin Weiwei’s mood indeed improved, and she nodded vigorously.

Bai Xiaosheng and the two others bid farewell to the elderly with smiles and then left.

On the way, Bai Xiaosheng informed the two about the African trip at the end of the month, and Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying were filled with anticipation.

Bai Xiaosheng laughed and said, ”Tomorrow, we’ll return to headquarters to quickly handle things there. Also, we need to take some time off for a vacation, and each of us should visit our respective families. It’s been a while since we’ve been reunited with our families!”
