Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 996: Chapter 996: Have a Race Between You Two

”Alright, let’s talk about the rest later. Officer Lin Yu, don’t you have a report on the issue with Lu Zhixin and Zhao Beiqing? Bring it here!” Beside them, Shen Peishen said in a deep voice.

This was a reminder.

”Yes!” Lin Yu quickly presented the report he had already prepared to Mr. Xiahou Qi.

Although because of his own foolishness, he had let Bai Xiaosheng get ahead of him, he no longer had time for regret.

He needed to show Mr. Xiahou Qi that he, too, had conducted an investigation into those two people and that his progress was no less than Bai Xiaosheng’s!

If Bai Xiaosheng were to claim this achievement, it would be tantamount to taking away the position of Candidate Great Affairs Officer.

Lin Yu couldn’t accept that!

”To think that I, Lin Yu, have been stern with myself all these years in the affairs department, never daring to slack for a moment.”

”In my usual duties, I always strive to do my best! I am the strongest affairs officer, I am the benchmark!”

”As of today, the position of Candidate Great Affairs Officer...”

”Should be mine!”

Lin Yu had his dignity and pride like a consistently outstanding student.

Especially now, when he wasn’t so stubborn and his mindset had ”evolved,” he felt even more that he deserved that position.

Bai Xiaosheng, a ”transfer student” who appeared out of nowhere, just because he had gained the favor of Mr. Xiahou Qi and was lucky, was about to overshadow him and take away the position that belonged to him.

Lin Yu’s heart burned with impatience.

”Just now, it was my stupidity that allowed him to enter first and almost ruined my great opportunity. I won’t be so foolish in the future!” Lin Yu thought bitterly to himself.

This time, he was determined to fight to the end!

Mr. Xiahou Qi flipped through Lin Yu’s report, growing more and more astonished, ”I didn’t expect your investigation to be on par with Bai Xiaosheng’s!”

This remark startled both Bai Xiaosheng and Zheng Honghu as well.

Clashing clothes, clashing cars, those aren’t strange.

But to have an overlap in work investigations—and to have the same progress!

Moreover, during this competition for the position of Candidate Great Affairs Officer!

”This is getting interesting.” Mr. Xiahou Qi closed Lin Yu’s report and smiled as he looked at both men.

Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Yu also exchanged a glance.

”Actually, I have specially compiled the achievements of both of you in the past few days. Don’t be surprised, right now, you two are the top talents among the affairs officers. After comparing your achievements, guess what...” Mr. Xiahou Qi’s expression was somewhat complex, and then he sighed—

”It’s a tie!”

A tie?!

This result made both Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Yu, as well as Zheng Honghu, feel somewhat dazed.

However, they weren’t that surprised either.

They weren’t the only ones who had estimated each other’s achievements—so had Mr. Xiahou Qi.

A tie was the conclusion given by Mr. Xiahou Qi.

”Peishen, what do you think should be done about this issue?” Mr. Xiahou Qi’s face showed a hint of difficulty, directly asking Shen Peishen.

Shen Peishen smiled, ”Both officers are so outstanding, it is indeed the fortune of our affairs department!”

”A fortune, yes, but also a troublesome one,” Mr. Xiahou Qi said with a wry smile. ”Right now, we are selecting the Candidate Great Affairs Officer!”

This issue couldn’t be conceded, nor should it be!

”Speaking of trouble, it indeed is troublesome,” Shen Peishen said with a smile. ”But if we say it’s not troublesome, it’s not troublesome.”

”Oh?” Mr. Xiahou Qi looked at him.

Bai Xiaosheng, Zheng Honghu, and Lin Yu also turned their gaze toward Shen Peishen.

”Since both officers have set their sights on this case and progressed to this stage, then let them show their abilities and see who can bring stronger evidence in the end. Depending on the evidence gathered for the crimes committed by Lu Zhixin and Zhao Beiqing, the judicial system will handle the sentencing differently. I suggest we still set next Monday at noon as the final deadline, to have them compete in their investigative abilities. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Shen Peishen looked at Mr. Xiahou Qi, ”Elder Xia, what do you think?”

Zheng Honghu also looked at Mr. Xiahou Qi.

Mr. Xiahou Qi nodded, ”This might be a good solution! What do you two think?”

”Everything will be as Elder Xia arranges!” Officer Lin Yu said.

Bai Xiaosheng shrugged, ”I have no objections.”

”Then, it’s settled!” Xiahou Qi clapped his hands decisively and smiled at Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Yu, ”You two, from now on, will enter a separate contest, and you have these two days!”

Thus, it was decided.

Xiahou Qi gave a few more instructions, and then Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Yu left to retire.

They left the CEO’s office one after the other.

Once outside, Lin Yu couldn’t help but look back at Bai Xiaosheng, her eyes deep with many feelings, ”I didn’t expect that you and I would have to enter a competition on our own!”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled, ”Indeed, I hope Officer Lin Yu will show some mercy.”

”That’s impossible!”

”Yes, well, we’ll see the result the day after tomorrow!” Bai Xiaosheng laughed, ”The position of Candidate Senior Affairs Officer is truly tempting, I see Officer Lin Yu is full of confidence. And I, am determined to win as well!”

”Then let’s compete!”

”Let’s compete!”

The two of them exchanged smiles, but there was little mirth in their grins.

They then turned and went their separate ways.

”Xiaosheng... Affairs Officer Bai, how did it go, you and Officer Lin Yu, something seemed off?” Lin Weiwei approached, glancing at Lin Yu’s receding back, curious.

”There’s a subtle scent of gunpowder in the air,” Lei Ying remarked as well.

Bai Xiaosheng let out a sigh, ”A collision occurred, could there be no smell of gunpowder?”

”Huh?” Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying were stunned.

”Let’s go, I’ll explain slowly back in the office,” Bai Xiaosheng said.

Not long after Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Yu left, Shen Peishen and Zheng Honghu also took their leave, exiting from Xiahou Qi’s office and heading back to their respective offices.

On the way, Shen Peishen sent a message from his mobile phone.

After putting away the phone, a flicker of light danced in Shen Peishen’s eyes.

”This time, I must help Lin Yu ascend to the position of Candidate Senior Affairs Officer.”

”However, I can’t overlook the possibility of Bai Xiaosheng’s victory! If he wins...”

”I really need to think this through!”

Shen Peishen returned to his office, closed the door, and made a call to Lin Yu.

”Teacher, if you need anything, I can come over now,” Lin Yu said over the phone.

”During these two special days, it’s better if I don’t see you, and you shouldn’t come to see me either, to avoid conflict of interest,” Shen Peishen replied, ”The evidence gathering on Lu Zhixin and Zhao Beiqing is almost conclusive, but you’ll have to wait. By the latest, this weekend, I’ll have someone deliver it to you! With every bit of evidence now, your chances of winning increase!”

”Teacher, I want to be actively involved as well.”

”No, you joined too late. What you need to do is familiarize yourself thoroughly with the evidence that’s been compiled, and remember, all of it is the result of your investigation!” Shen Peishen continued to issue his earnest orders.

”Understood!”

Finally, hanging up the phone, Shen Peishen glanced at the time and muttered, ”I’m very curious as to how much evidence Bai Xiaosheng has gathered!”

Back with Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng, Lin Weiwei, and Lei Ying had just finished talking.

Upon learning that Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Yu had clashed in their investigations, Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying were surprised as well.

”It’s quite a coincidence, but our competitor this time probably won’t engage in any scheming tricks,” Lin Weiwei said with a smile.

Lin Yu’s honesty and integrity had left an impression on her.

”Who knows. Oh, we’re out of tea here. Weiwei, could you please go to logistics and pick out some good teas?” Bai Xiaosheng stretched lazily.

”Sure.”

Lin Weiwei smiled and got moving.

The logistics department wasn’t far, and it took Lin Weiwei no time at all to return with several top-grade black and green teas.

Halfway back, she suddenly heard someone calling her from behind.

”Bai Ying? Is that you?”
