Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 992: Chapter 992: Add a Deadline

Shen Peisheng raised his hand to vote, openly stating that he did not support Fang Beijun’s ”three-year term” restriction for the candidates.

Fang Beijun was startled on the spot.

In his eyes, Shen Peisheng, this old fox, was definitely not a good sort; his ”not supporting” must have had a scheming purpose!

”In this matter, my approach actually aligns with Shen Peisheng’s interests, yet he chooses to defy me?”

”What is he playing at!”

Fang Beijun muttered internally.

He was puzzled in his mind, yet his expression remained unchanged.

”I also do not support.” Another Senior Affairs Officer, seeing the trend, raised his hand.

Exclude one abstention.

The scene was six against three, Fang Beijun, defeated.

”Since everyone thinks that the restriction I proposed is inappropriate, let’s drop it then.”

Fang Beijun smiled breezily, his demeanor neither upset nor annoyed.

”Actually, we Senior Affairs Officers all regard Sir Shen with respect. The first round of speeches should have been his. Now that we’ve thrown out ideas to start the discussion, we should listen to Sir Shen’s opinion.”

Fang Beijun directed the topic towards Shen Peisheng’s lips.

Before he could discern Shen Peisheng’s intentions, Fang Beijun was unwilling to make any more rash moves.

Otherwise, it would be his own reputation at stake.

What devilish plan was Shen Peisheng concocting? He too wanted to hear.

The Affairs Officers looked towards Shen Peisheng; Xiahou Qi also smiled in Shen Peisheng’s direction, somewhat curious as well.

Shen Peisheng glanced at Fang Beijun with a chuckle.

”Senior Affairs Officer Beijun, you are too severe. I am merely older and advising you, and in front of Mr. Xia, I dare not claim any respect. Moreover, since we are equals in our positions, the opinions we put forward are for the sake of the selection process. Let’s not talk about ’bricks’ or ’gems’.”

After finishing his pleasantries, Shen Peisheng continued, ”In fact, I believe that our current situation is different from the past. Our department boasts abundant talent, and setting such restrictions goes against the principle of fairness and does not align with Mr. Xia’s flexible approach in using talents.”

By bringing up Xiahou Qi, Fang Beijun immediately nodded and smiled, ”Indeed, I was thinking too narrowly just now.”

”Senior Affairs Officer Beijun, you shouldn’t say that; you proposed that restriction with the intention of strengthening the candidates. I may not support it, but I’m not criticizing you, personally. In fact, I very much agree with your strict principles!”

Shen Peisheng chuckled, ”So this time, let’s not set restrictions on the candidates. Can we perhaps—”

”Set a time limit instead?!”

A time limit?

Everyone was surprised.

Fang Beijun smiled, ”What kind of timing are you thinking of?”

Shen Peisheng smiled, looking around at everyone.

”The announcement for the Candidate Great Affairs Officer has been sent out, but the time has not been set.”

”Today is Friday. Let the interested Affairs Officers report their existing achievements and register the affairs they are currently handling by next Monday.”

”Deadline by noon on Monday. All settled achievements by that time will count as the final results. Any new additions thereafter won’t count. We will decide by the numbers, how about that?”

Shen Peisheng inquired with a smile.

Everyone paused.

So that was how he meant to set the timing...

”This is also to ensure fairness and justice, eliminating those who might manipulate short-term achievements from unfairly influencing the process!”

”I only have this one suggestion. What do you all think?”

Shen Peisheng swept his gaze around.

His opposition to Fang Beijun’s proposal, his refusal to restrict Bai Xiaosheng based on seniority, was for show.

To display Shen Peisheng’s fairness and uprightness.

This deadline was the real checkpoint Shen Peisheng had planned!

It was more covert, leaving even Xiahou Qi with nothing to say.

This was his real way of barring someone like Bai Xiaosheng—a formidable rival for Lin Yu.

Fang Beijun and the others pondered for a moment, their expressions meaningful.

After Shen Peisheng said this, who would dare to object?

Shen Peishen’s reputation was undeniable, with more than half of those present holding him in high esteem and willing to give him face.

Second, Shen Peishen had explicitly stated that his motive was to eliminate corruption; anyone who disagreed was clearly harboring ulterior motives.

Third, Shen Peishen had declared this his sole advice; to oppose it was to truly—deny him face!

With these three considerations, even Fang Beijun couldn’t object, and even Xiahou Qi would need to think twice.

”This old man proposing a deadline... it must be to benefit his favored apprentice. Could it be that Lin Yu has recently made some significant breakthrough?” Fang Beijun thought darkly, ”Hmph, Lin Yu becoming a Candidate Great Affairs Officer had already been a safe bet; even I have no delusions about that.”

”As long as it does not provide Bai Xiaosheng any leverage, why not!” thought Fang Beijun.

He never would have anticipated.

The killer performance Shen Peishen had prepared for Lin Yu included Lu Zhixin and Zhao Beiqing!

”Sir Shen’s suggestion is excellent!” Fang Beijun initiated as the atmosphere grew somewhat silent.

”Great Affairs Officer Beijun, do you really think it’s good?” Shen Peishen said meaningfully with a smile.

Fang Beijun was startled, then thought that Shen Peishen doubted his support.

He quickly smiled, ”I fully support your suggestion!”

Fang Beijun clearly stated his stance.

”I support Sir Shen’s suggestion too!”

”I agree!”

”And I agree as well!”

The Senior Affairs Officers each spoke up.

Xiahou Qi observed it all without betraying any emotion.

Lin Yu, that young man, had a well-known character of integrity.

This time, if he secured the position of a Candidate Great Affairs Officer, that wouldn’t be too bad.

Xiahou Qi thought to himself.

Shen Peishen smiled and nodded, glancing at Xiahou Qi and seeing no opposition; his smile brightened further.

Only Lin Yu’s character could allow Xiahou Qi to tacitly agree without any suspicion.

”Lin Yu used to be rather rigid. However, due to Bai Xiaosheng’s emergence, he has already begun to change!” Shen Peishen thought to himself, ”As for how far he can go in the future, no one can say!”

Currently, Lin Yu was in the Affairs Department!

As soon as this meeting was over, Lin Yu could immediately register and also report on the issues concerning Lu Zhixin and Zhao Beiqing; if the investigation was completed before Monday, this performance would be secured.

Lin Yu would really trump Bai Xiaosheng.

As for where Bai Xiaosheng was, that was still unknown.

Shen Peishen’s smile was overflowing.

Regarding this additional rule about the deadline, it had now effectively been unanimously endorsed.

”The duty Senior Affairs Officer for this semester is Honghu, so you will handle the registration; you can start right after this meeting ends,” Xiahou Qi said, then glanced at his assistant Wang Mubei, ”Release this resolution in real time.”

”Yes!” Wang Mubei responded.

He managed a computer at the side.

In such meetings, resolutions were published in the corporate internal system in real time, not merely compiled after the meeting.

This was also Xiahou Qi’s intention.

Wang Mubei, as an assistant holding degrees in both law and literature, was exceptional at drafting policies and would never make any linguistic mistakes.

This meeting was being closely watched covertly by many.

Once the new details about the Candidate Great Affairs Officer appeared in the system, it immediately caused a stir.

”What? The selection for this term’s Candidate Great Affairs Officer concludes next Monday!”

”To self-report existing achievements and register ongoing affairs? The final deadline for performance is Monday noon!”

”This is unprecedented!”

”Yes, if you want to compete for the Candidate Great Affairs Officer, you’d better hurry!”

Still stuck in traffic, utterly bored and browsing the Affairs Department’s intranet, Lin Weiwei also saw this message and immediately showed it to Bai Xiaosheng.

”Oh?” Bai Xiaosheng was also surprised, ”They’re having a meeting over there, releasing resolutions in real time? Interesting!”

”Keep an eye on it, see what other news comes out!”
