Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

”I’m still in Rockwellburg. I’ll have Talia Mercer book a flight right away so I can head over today.”

”You still have two days, so there’s no need to rush. You can leave tomorrow.”

”Today or tomorrow, it’s all the same. A single day makes no difference.”

”Alright then. You handle your own arrangements.”

Melody Monroe had agreed to leave early because Ian Monroe also had a packed schedule of classes these days.

After kindergarten each day, he would come home to more lessons with a private tutor.

The lessons lasted for four hours at a time.

Evan Fairchild’s rule for Ian was a 9:30 bedtime, and every moment until then had to be spent studying.

Melody Monroe didn’t quite approve of this approach. She felt he was still just a child. ’Won’t he be exhausted learning so much?’

But when she thought of Evan Fairchild, she kept her mouth shut, not daring to voice any objections.

After all, this was the kind of education Evan Fairchild himself had received growing up. She, on the other hand, was just one ordinary person among millions, from elementary school all the way through college.

Her grades had always been unremarkable—upper-middle tier. Never a pleasant surprise, but never a crushing disappointment either. She had experienced a rare stroke of brilliance during the college entrance exams. Otherwise, she never would have gotten into a top-tier university.

The body’s previous owner was even more of a slacker, having dropped out of high school.

That’s why Ian Monroe must have completely inherited Evan Fairchild’s genes to be so brilliant.

Ian Monroe was still in kindergarten, but his private tutor was already teaching him advanced subjects.

Ian Monroe was adapting remarkably well. He increasingly felt that kindergarten was pointless and became incredibly motivated in his studies.

After booking the flight, Melody Monroe packed her luggage and rushed to the airport.

Once she arrived at the airport and checked in, Melody Monroe sent a message to Evan Fairchild.

She briefly told him she was leaving to film the show.

She didn’t expect that the moment her message went through, she would receive a voice call invitation from Evan Fairchild.

The moment she answered, Evan Fairchild’s voice came through the phone. ”Wasn’t the show supposed to start filming later? Why was it suddenly moved up?”

”I just got the news from Rose today,” Melody Monroe explained softly. ”But whether it’s early or delayed, the shoot is still a month long.”

Evan Fairchild supposed that was true.

”Where are you now?” he asked.

”I’m already at the airport.”

She’d waited until she was already at the airport to send him a message!

”Mr. Fairchild, I’m sorry to trouble you with looking after Ian again.”

”Do I need to remind you of my relationship with Ian Monroe?” Evan Fairchild’s voice held a trace of anger.

Melody Monroe didn’t dare to make a sound.

An awkward silence fell over the call.

”Melody.”

”Mr. Fairchild.”

After a few seconds, they both spoke at the same time, making things even more awkward.

”You go first,” Evan Fairchild yielded.

”I’ll accept everything else you’ve given me, except for the necklace and the house in Jansburg. I can’t take those.”

”So, you’re saying you want us to continue this arrangement, is that right?”

”Mhm.” Melody Monroe nodded. Before Evan Fairchild could fly into a rage, she quickly added, ”Mr. Fairchild can end this arrangement at any time.”

”Melody Monroe! You’re being completely irresponsible!”

Melody Monroe: ...

”You just want to sleep with me for free without making it official!” Evan Fairchild snapped before hanging up.

Melody Monroe stared at her phone, her face a perfect picture of confusion.

’In this relationship, who was sleeping with whom, exactly?’

’From the way Mr. Fairchild was talking, you’d think he was the one being kept!’
