Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

”Ian, what are you doing here? Are you... alone?” Melody Monroe asked, peeking behind him.

Ian Monroe nodded. ”Mom, it’s just me. Mr. Fairchild wanted to come too, but I didn’t want to come with him.”

Melody Monroe breathed a sigh of relief that Evan Fairchild hadn’t come.

She still didn’t know how to face him right now.

”Mom, do you hate Mr. Fairchild? If you do, I’ll stop going over to his place!”

”No, that’s not it. I don’t hate him. On the contrary, he’s taken such good care of you, I’m actually very grateful to him,” Melody Monroe hurriedly explained, afraid Ian might misunderstand.

Her not wanting to marry Evan Fairchild was one thing, but she would never want to ruin their father-son relationship.

Evan Fairchild had always been a very devoted father. Many fathers couldn’t do what he did.

”So, will you marry him?” Ian asked again.

This question was difficult for Melody Monroe to answer.

Ian looked at his mom and seemed to understand something.

’The last time he asked Mom, she answered right away. But this time, she hesitated.’

’Even though Mr. Fairchild isn’t very likable, has a bad temper, and always has a cold look on his face, he was still the richest and most handsome man he had ever seen.’

’If there was no one better, and Mom was willing, then Mr. Fairchild would have to do.’

”Mom, have you eaten?”

”Not yet. What about you?”

”Me neither.”

”It’s been a while since I’ve been back, so there isn’t much to eat. How about I order some takeout for you?”

”Okay.”

Melody Monroe picked up her phone and ordered takeout.

The food arrived forty minutes later.

It was a serving of noodles with an egg and a pork chop. For herself, she had ordered a vegetable salad.

The two of them sat in the living room, eating at the coffee table.

Watching Ian eat with such gusto, Melody Monroe’s heart couldn’t help but ache. She raised her hand and stroked his head.

’People always say that a child with a mother is a treasured child.’

’The happiest children are the ones who stay with their moms.’

’But when Ian was with her, all he got to eat was takeout. Over at Evan Fairchild’s place, it was like paradise.’

’The boy wasn’t the least bit picky, nor had he changed at all despite the drastic shift in his living situation.’

The more Melody Monroe thought about it, the worse she felt.

’She hadn’t even had a chance to really talk with Ian. She had just assumed that since he’d moved to such a wonderful environment, the boy must be happy.’

’Thinking about it now, that wasn’t necessarily true.’

”Ian, I’m sorry. I haven’t been able to take good care of you. Soon, I have to go film a show, and the shoot will take a whole month. I can’t take any leave in the middle of it, so you won’t be able to see me for a month.”

Ian slurped the last noodle into his mouth and blinked his big, beautiful eyes at his mother. ”Mom, go for it! I believe in you.”

Melody Monroe hadn’t expected her son to be cheering her on at a time like this, and she couldn’t help but laugh at his antics.

”Mm-hm! I’ll work hard!”

...

Just three days after the contract was signed, Rose Shaw got a call saying the show was officially kicking off!

All participants were required to arrive at the filming location within three days.

She immediately notified Melody Monroe.

”Rose, how come the show is starting so soon?” Melody Monroe was also a little surprised.

”I find it strange too. Are you still in Rockwellburg?”
