Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

”I should go back to my seat. I’ll change my clothes after we land, and I’ll be fine.” Melody Monroe turned to leave.

Suddenly, a hand tightened around her wrist.

”Sit down.” Evan Fairchild pulled her down into the seat.

The abrupt movement stunned the nearby flight attendant.

”We know each other,” Evan Fairchild said, straightening his suit before sitting down as well.

”Ma’am, do you know this gentleman?”

”No—” Melody Monroe had just begun to speak when she felt Evan Fairchild’s gaze land on her. ”Not... not very well,” she quickly corrected herself.

”Ma’am, are you alright with sitting here, then?” the flight attendant confirmed again.

”Yes, it’s fine.” Melody Monroe nodded.

With Evan Fairchild now blocking the aisle, she couldn’t leave even if she wanted to. She felt a growing sense of panic and risked a glance up at him.

His sharp eyebrows were as dark as ink, and his deep gaze was fixed on her.

Melody Monroe immediately looked away, not daring to meet his gaze.

Evan Fairchild, whether in private or in the public eye, always projected an air of profound composure. His every gesture exuded a natural, innate dignity.

Whenever he appeared, everything and everyone around him seemed to fade into the background, becoming mere props.

It was as if the heavens had been especially kind to him, crafting a face that made countless women flock to his side.

’Melody Monroe, twenty-two. High school dropout. Floated through society, worked in several bars. Rumored to have been a kept woman (unconfirmed). Has been actively seeking a wealthy sponsor, hoping for a meteoric rise in the entertainment industry.’

’Later won a talent show competition and was signed by Stellaris Entertainment. Her agent is Rose Shaw.’

This was the information Evan Fairchild had on her.

”I’m Evan Fairchild.”

”Mr. Fairchild, hello,” Melody Monroe said, nodding immediately.

’She had no intention of introducing herself. Hopefully, Evan Fairchild wouldn’t ask. A man of his stature would never remember a nobody like her anyway.’

”Thank you for last night.”

”You don’t have to thank me, Mr. Fairchild. I didn’t really do anything, just offered a casual reminder.”

Evan Fairchild’s brow furrowed slightly.

’He couldn’t help but recall the information from her file—that Melody Monroe was looking for a wealthy sponsor.’

”Here’s my card.” He held out a black business card to her.

Melody Monroe quickly took it and slipped it into her purse. When she looked up, her eyes met his, and she immediately averted her gaze again.

”I’m sorry, Mr. Fairchild. I don’t have a card.”

”What’s your phone number?”

”My phone’s off.” Melody Monroe pulled out her phone to show him.

Evan Fairchild’s gaze fell on the phone.

’This woman!’

’This was the first time he had ever taken the initiative to ask for someone’s contact information.’

’And yet, he was being rejected like this.’

’Is this some kind of game?’

’Of all the women who tried to get close to him, Melody Monroe’s approach was certainly the most novel.’

’The elevator incident might have been a coincidence, but what about now, after she knows who he is?’

’A woman desperate for a wealthy sponsor... could she really have no designs on him whatsoever?’

”Sorry, I don’t remember my own number,” Melody Monroe explained in a low voice.

’She genuinely hadn’t memorized it yet. Don’t most people have trouble remembering their own number at first? Besides, she wasn’t used to this new one.’

Evan Fairchild took out a newspaper and resumed reading.

Seeing him fall silent, Melody Monroe secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

She just wished the plane would land soon. But at this rate, every second felt like a year.
