Holding Their Own Space, the Family Returns to the Apocalypse

211: I was bitten”Go kill that monster? But how do we get in?” Ai Yue asked.

”We have to go in. Otherwise, if the white mist is allowed to spread, this world will truly be finished. Currently, all Safety Towers are actively developing anti-zombie virus protective suits. Once the suits are ready, the ’Monster-Slaying’ Squad can enter the Tianou Safety Tower,” Gong Qiuqiu explained in detail.

Then, looking at Ai Yue, he said sincerely, ”Ai Yue, for the sake of being able to live peacefully in this world in the future, for all of humanity, I now solemnly invite you all to join this ’Monster-Slaying’ Squad.”

Ai Yue looked at Gong Qiuqiu and said nothing.

As a high-level official of the Safety Tower, Gong Qiuqiu possessed a great sense of national duty, but she, Ai Yue, did not.

Reborn in this life, she only wanted to survive the Apocalypse safely with her parents. Killing such a powerful monster was too dangerous; she wasn’t confident.

So she remained silent.

There was a hint of disappointment in Gong Qiuqiu’s eyes, but he respected Ai Yue’s choice.

After all, in this precarious Apocalypse, few people possessed the selflessness to sacrifice themselves to save the world.

With a silent sigh, he dropped the subject.

Ai Yue stood up, looked at the pitch-black night sky, and said, ”I’m going to kill zombies. Who’s coming?”

The others looked at each other. Killing zombies in the middle of the night?

Was she serious?

Zombies at night were much more formidable than during the day; even ordinary zombies were more agile than in the daylight.

Going at this time would be incredibly stressful.

”Why go at night? Can’t we wait until dawn?” Gong Qiuqiu asked, puzzled.

”No!”

Ai Yue grumbled inwardly. You said the white mist is going to spread and all surviving humans will turn into zombies; how could I not be in a hurry?

Her space hadn’t been upgraded yet and couldn’t take people inside. She had to kill more zombies and get more crystal cores to feed the bottomless pit that was her space.

If she could bring her family into the space, what would she have to fear from the zombie virus? Her family could live in the space until they died without any problems.

Now that the space had become very large and was stocked with supplies, why should she risk her life to fight monsters?

Upgrading the space was a much more appealing prospect.

Aside from Gong Qiuqiu and his group who remained seated, Ai Yue’s family walked to Ai Yue’s side without hesitation.

The others didn’t know why they had to kill zombies in the dark, but those who knew Ai Yue’s secrets understood perfectly. Ultimately, Ai Yue was working so hard for their sake.

Naturally, they would go kill zombies with Ai Yue.

Seeing the family’s determined faces, Gong Qiuqiu had no choice but to say, ”Alright, I’ll go too.”

”If Brother is going, I’m going too!”

”If you’re all going, then of course I’m going as well.”

Gong Qiumu and Mo Li also spoke up quickly.

And so, the group headed toward the zombie horde once more under the pitch-black night sky.

Ai Yue worked exceptionally hard tonight, expanding the range of her Superpower threefold. Ai Guosheng, understanding his daughter’s intentions, worked extra hard, continuously harvesting crystal cores.

Ye Rui was no less capable than Ai Guosheng, even moving faster than him.

Seeing the girl he loved working so hard tonight, Mo Li also quickened his movements.

Even the usually flighty Gong Qiumu became serious.

This was an ordinary night, but also an extraordinary one.

While the group was focused on fighting zombies, a Red-Eyed Zombie stared coldly at Ye Rui, who was digging out a zombie.

Although Ye Rui was digging for crystal cores, she remained very attentive to her surroundings.

The Red-Eyed Zombie hid within the outer zombie horde, watching Ye Rui constantly, waiting for a moment of carelessness.

Not far from Ye Rui, Mo Li also kept a constant eye on her, fearing any accidents.

Just as Mo Li turned his head, Ye Rui dug out a crystal core and was putting it into a pouch at her waist. In that moment she lowered her head, the Red-Eyed Zombie moved.

It pounced toward Ye Rui with great speed.

Sensing something was wrong, Ye Rui quickly looked up, only to see a zombie much larger than the ordinary ones rushing toward her.

It was too late to dodge now; she could only watch as the crimson-eyed zombie grew larger in her vision.

At the critical moment, Ye Rui was suddenly pushed aside, and a sturdy dark figure was pinned down by the zombie.

The zombie bit down hard on Mo Li’s arm.

”Ahhh, Big Brother Mo Li!”

Ye Rui recognized the person as her Big Brother Mo Li. Seeing him being bitten by the zombie, she let out a heart-wrenching scream.

Her movements were not slow either. While running toward Mo Li, she pulled with both hands and threw a bolt of lightning as thick as an arm onto the zombie.

The zombie’s whole body trembled from the electricity, yet it did not let go. Mo Li, trapped beneath it, trembled along with it.

Ye Rui didn’t dare act rashly; she was afraid her lightning would hurt Mo Li.

In the distance, Gong Qiuqiu noticed the situation. With a wave of his hand, a Light Screen rose around Mo Li, knocking the Red-Eyed Zombie away.

Ye Rui immediately ran to Mo Li’s side to check his injuries.

Seeing the others rushing over, the Red-Eyed Zombie didn’t linger and immediately tried to flee.

How could Ai Yue let it escape? With a wave of her hand, she activated her Annihilation Superpower.

Instantly, everything below the Red-Eyed Zombie’s neck vanished.

Only a head remained, spinning on the ground.

Even with only its head left, it hadn’t died, its eyes staring emotionlessly at the approaching crowd.

Ai Yue casually took the crystal core from its brain and, with another wave, reduced it completely to ashes.

Ai Yue didn’t even stop to look at the crystal core and rushed to Mo Li’s side.

”Auntie Lan, come quickly! Wuu wuu... come quickly and save Big Brother Mo Li! He’s been bitten by a zombie, wuu wuu...” Ye Rui cried out in tears as she saw Li Shilan approaching.

Li Shilan quickly knelt beside Mo Li, a gentle green light brushing over his wound.

Mo Li’s wound healed instantly, but Li Shilan’s expression grew increasingly grave.

She increased her effort, continuously channeling the green light into Mo Li’s body.

Yet, Li Shilan’s expression became even more solemn.

Watching this, Ye Rui was terrified and asked with a trembling voice, ”Auntie Lan, how is he?”

Li Shilan didn’t speak. Gradually, beads of sweat covered her forehead, and she seemed to be struggling.

Seeing that Li Shilan hadn’t stopped channeling the green Healing light, a chill gradually rose in Ye Rui’s heart.

She looked helplessly at Ai Yue, who was walking over.

”Sister.”

Ye Rui’s eyes were filled with terror and helplessness.

Ai Yue patted her shoulder, knelt down, and stopped Li Shilan’s hand.

”Mom, let me do it. You take a rest.”

Ai Yue didn’t care about hiding her abilities anymore and used her own Healing Superpower to continue expelling the toxin for Mo Li.

She didn’t know if Healing could save Mo Li; she could only do her best and leave the rest to fate.

”This isn’t a place to stay. Gong Qiuqiu, please carry him on your back. We need to leave as soon as possible,” Ai Yue said.

Without a word, Gong Qiuqiu picked Mo Li up on his back and set off, while Ai Yue held Mo Li’s hand, continuously channeling green light into him.
