War Sovereign Soaring The Heavens

The members of the Heavenly Dao Alliance were surprised to see Ji You, the Heavenly Emperor of the Given Heaven, manifesting through his divine soul mark. However, they were more surprised by Duan Ling Tian disregarding Ji You and killing Wu Long. All of them thought that Duan Ling Tian, the Vice Leader of their Heavenly Dao Alliance; and the only true disciple of the Heavenly Emperor of the Solitary Destructive Heaven, was really domineering. After all, Ji You was no ordinary Heavenly Emperor; he was ranked first in the Devata Realms’ Heavenly Emperor ranking.

Some members were worried while some did not think much of the matter.

“Isn’t our Vice Leader afraid Heavenly Emperor will seek revenge from him?”

“Revenge?”

“Have you forgotten our Vice Leader’s master is also a god? Moreover, his master is also ranked second on the Devata Realms’ Heavenly Emperor ranking.”

“That’s right! Despite the ranking, we don’t know who’s stronger. After all, the ranking isn’t always accurate. There’s a high chance Heavenly Emperor is stronger. After all, he’s only a little more than 10,000 years old but he’s already a god. At the time of his birth, Heavenly Emperor Ji You was already a Heavenly Emperor…”

“Based on Heavenly Emperor Feng Qing Yang’s talent, it’s not impossible for him to have caught up to Heavenly Emperor Ji You.”

Some of the members of the Heavenly Dao Alliance had absolute confidence in Feng Qing Yang. Due to his incredible talent, they thought he had likely surpassed Ji You. Naturally, there would be those who held opposing opinions. These people did not doubt Feng Qing Yang was talented, and they did not doubt he would surpass Ji You. However, they did not think Feng Qing Yang would surpass Ji You in such a short time.

“I disagree. Heavenly Emperor Ji You had attained godhood a long time ago. It’d take a while for Heavenly Emperor Feng Qing Yang to catch up…”

“That’s right. In any case, I’m sure Heavenly Emperor Ji You is now thinking of ways to kill our Vice Leader!”

…

At the same time, Ji You, the Heavenly Emperor of the Given Heaven, who was standing outside the entrance to the Nine Serenities Battlefield wore an unsightly expression on his face. He did not expect so much disrespect from Duan Ling Tian or that Duan Ling Tian would completely disregard him and kill his second true disciple before his eyes. His disciple might not be as talented as Duan Ling Tian, but he treated his disciple like a son. How could he let go of this matter?”

“Duan Ling Tian, originally, we have no enmity between us. Since you killed Wu Long, you must die! I’ll snatch your prominent divine artifact away once I kill you!” Ji You said through gritted teeth as his eyes flashed with greed. Clearly, he had accurately identified the weapon Duan Ling Tian had used to kill his disciple. He could tell Duan Ling Tian’s prominent divine artifact was one with a soul.

‘I wonder how Duan Ling Tian obtained the sword. It’s unlikely that Feng Qing Yang found it in the Asura Hell. Moreover, even if he really did find it in that place, he would not have given them to Duan Ling Tian…’ Ji You thought to himself. In his opinion, Feng Qing Yang would keep such a treasure to himself. After all, it was unlikely for him to find two of such treasures in the Asura Hell. However, if Feng Qing Yang owned an even more powerful weapon, he would have to think twice about offending Feng Qing Yang by killing Duan Ling Tian.

…

Back in the Nine Serenities Battlefield

“Young Master Long!” the old man, who had accompanied Wu Long here, cried out in despair. Then, he looked at Duan Ling Tian and said in a low voice, “Duan Ling Tian, our Lord Heavenly Emperor manifested in this place and offered to pay a price in exchange for Wu Long’s life, but you still killed Wu Long!”

The old man was someone who had been by Ji You’s side for a long time. He had been groomed by Ji You even before Ji You had become the Heavenly Emperor of the Given Realm, the strongest Heavenly Emperor. Naturally, this was after Ji You’s disciples had grown stronger. Otherwise, Ji You would not have had the time for him. Since Wu Long was young, he had been tasked to protect Wu Long. Even when Wu Long’s strength surpassed his, he still did not have any intention of leaving Wu Long’s side. Usually, he would advise Wu Long and help Wu Long strategize. Perhaps, it was due to his talent, but Wu Long became rash and reckless.

In fact, the old man had tried to dissuade Wu Long from looking for Duan Ling Tian. After all, they did not know the extent of Duan Ling Tian’s strength. Moreover, even though there were some people who speculated Duan Ling Tian might be stronger than Wu Long, only a small minority of people thought so. Hence, Wu Long’s reputation would still remain intact even if he did not challenge Duan Ling Tian. Most people still thought he was the strongest Eight Star God of War in the Nine Serenities Battlefield.

Alas, Wu Long was too arrogant. He could not endure the slightest criticism against himself. Hence, he was determined to defeat Duan Ling Tian to regain his former glory. However, he was too arrogant, causing him to die here.

The old man’s eyes flashed with killing intent before he said icily, “Your actions today have made you an enemy of our Lord Heavenly Emperor. Not only that, but your actions have thoroughly offended everyone from the Heavenly Palace of the Given Heaven!”

“So? Do you want to kill me to avenge Wu Long?” Duan Ling Tian asked expressionlessly as he stared at the old man.

In the beginning, Duan Ling Tian had a rather favorable impression of Wu Long; he had found Wu Long’s straightforwardness to his liking. At that time, he had thought Wu Long was not as bad as Shangguan Yun Feng described him to be. Fear still lingered in his heart when he thought about what happened earlier. Without the law of time, even if he had gone all out, at most, he could only preserve his life. Even then, he would be grievously injured.

‘Fortunately, I comprehended the law of time…’ Duan Ling Tian was grateful he had comprehended the law of time in the place that was suspected to have been left behind by a supreme powerhouse in the Asura Hell.

‘I was careless.’ Duan Ling Tian did not deny he had been too careless this time. He had let his guard down due to a momentary lapse in his judgment. He should not have made such a mistake in the first place after years and years of experience. He had really learned from his lesson this time.

When he recalled how close he was to dying, the only thing he could think of was to remove the threat; kill Wu Long! Hence, he did not compromise nor did he hesitate to kill Wu Long, contrary to Ji You’s wish.

Meanwhile, the old man’s expression changed slightly upon hearing Duan Ling Tian’s question. Naturally, he had no thoughts of avenging Wu Long now; he did not have a death wish after all. Wu Long was stronger than him, and Wu Long was killed by Duan Ling Tian. How could he possibly be a match for Duan Ling Tian then?

In the end, the old man only glared at Duan Ling Tian and said, “Duan Ling Tian, you better prepare yourself to meet death in the future!”

The old man turned around to leave. In his mind, he was already thinking of how he could seek revenge for Wu Long. He might not be a match for Duan Ling Tian, but he had Ji You and friends who could deal with Duan Ling Tian. Wu Long was like a son to him. How could he not avenge Wu Long’s death?

“Since you’re already here, you should stay,” Duan Ling Tian said. Although the old man did a good job of concealing his killing intent, it did not escape his notice.

“Are you going to force me to stay?” The old man’s expression changed drastically. At the same time, green light shone from his body as he prepared to escape. He had comprehended the law of wind so speed was his forte. His speed was even faster than Wu Long.

Swoosh!

The Seven Orifices Exquisite Sword shot out again, shining with a seven-colored light. A brief sword cry rang in the air before the old man met with an outcome similar to Wu Long’s.

After that incident earlier, Duan Ling Tian became even more determined to remove the roots of his problems. As such, how could he allow the old man to leave? Moreover, he had clearly sensed the old man’s killing intent.

“Two Eight Star Gods of War died just like that?” Shangguan Yun Feng was still stunned. After all, he knew the old man was the Guardian of the Given Alliance. The old man was only second to Wu Long and his senior brother, the two Leaders of the Given Alliance.

A few members of the Heavenly Dao Alliance who had regained their senses could not help but shiver when they recalled the person behind Wu Long and the old man. It was not Ji You, the Heavenly Emperor of the Given Heaven. As terrifying as Ji You was, he could not enter the Nine Serenities Battlefield. The person that appeared in their minds was none other than Wu Long’s senior brother, the first Leader of the Given Alliance.

The reason the Given Alliance was so powerful in the Nine Serenities Battlefield was due to Wu Long’s senior brother. He was a Nine Star God of War, one of the strongest in the Nine Serenities Battlefield.

“Since our Vice Leader killed those two, the Leader of the Given Alliance definitely won’t let the matter slide!”

“I’m afraid not only will the Vice Leader be in trouble, but our alliance will be in trouble as well. The Leader of the Given Alliance is likely to vent his anger on us and annihilate our Heavenly Dao Alliance!”
