This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Liao Quansheng was overly excited and quickly fished out the photo.

”Look! Is it this person?” Liao Quansheng looked at Du Heng, slightly frenzied, the phone in his hand nearly jabbing Du Heng in the face.

Du Heng involuntarily dodged back and looked at Liao Quansheng with a strange expression. He’d never realized before that this grown man was actually a star-chaser.

Seeing the photo on the phone, Du Heng nodded, pushing Liao Quansheng’s hand away as he said, ”Yes, it’s this Li Qin.”

Liao Quansheng grabbed Du Heng’s arm, his expression turning wild. ”Brother, we must cooperate! We absolutely must!”

Du Heng, feeling repulsed and awkward, pushed Liao Quansheng away again. ”If you want to cooperate, then cooperate. What’s with this madness?”

”Brother, this is a celebrity! She used your ointment, and the effects were excellent! If we play this right, it’s a guaranteed celebrity endorsement effect!”

Liao Quansheng tried to grab Du Heng again but was ruthlessly pushed away.

But he wasn’t embarrassed in the slightest. He leaped up excitedly and started spinning. ”This is a living advertisement! That’s an effect a million-dollar marketing campaign couldn’t buy!”

Hearing this, Du Heng faintly understood that it wasn’t what he’d thought. ”So you’re not a fanboy after all.”

Liao Quansheng looked at Du Heng with utter contempt. ”Tch. She’s as flat as a board. Even with a pretty face, she’s not my type. My goal is to become the wealthiest man in Nancheng District. How could I do something as irrational as chasing celebrities?”

Du Heng was left speechless by Liao Quansheng’s words.

”Brother, get a grip. We’re selling medicine; we can’t use celebrity endorsements.”

Hearing this, Liao Quansheng suddenly adopted a solemn, self-righteous tone. ”Du, as a doctor and a Dean, how could you even think of getting a celebrity endorsement? That’s a grave mistake! Doing so not only violates advertising laws but is also irresponsible to our patients. Do patients need celebrity endorsements? Does our medicine need the fan effect? Neither! Patients need efficacy, and we need a solid reputation.”

Du Heng couldn’t help but gulp, staring at Liao Quansheng as if he were an imbecile. He’d never been this speechless. ”If you’re not going for a celebrity endorsement, then why are you so worked up?”

Liao Quansheng stared at Du Heng, his expression one of exasperation at his slow wit. ”You’re hopeless, like trying to carve rotten wood! Didn’t you grasp even the slightest essence of what I just said?”

”What essence?”

”Efficacy! Reputation!” Liao Quansheng gesticulated wildly, his voice ringing with passion. ”We don’t need Li Qin to be our spokesperson! We just need her to state the facts!”

”What do you mean?”

Thoroughly disappointed in Du Heng’s business acumen, Liao Quansheng continued, ”Think about it. Li Qin is a celebrity, constantly in the spotlight. In an age where even a celebrity’s sneeze can make headlines, Li Qin is a fairly well-known star who suffered a comminuted fracture of the radius while filming. Don’t you think reporters would be all over that story? Even if reporters don’t pick it up, do you think Li Qin’s team would miss such an opportunity?”

Du Heng was still bewildered. ”But what does this have to do with our medicine?”

”Use that thick head of yours and think!” Liao Quansheng shook his head in disappointment. ”You just said your medicine works wonders and that Li Qin recovered remarkably well. So, when she reappears in public, reporters are bound to be curious. Their curiosity piqued, they’ll ask her, ’Li Qin, it’s common knowledge that recovering from a bone injury takes about 100 days. How did you recover so quickly? Did you fabricate the story about a comminuted fracture just to make headlines and flaunt your dedication?’ At that point, all Li Qin has to do is casually mention she was treated by you and used your medicine. Imagine it! Wouldn’t you become famous overnight? Wouldn’t our medicine become famous?”

Is this something a normal person could come up with? Is this something a man aspiring to be the richest in XX would say? Du Heng didn’t think so. At least, he, a normal person, couldn’t conceive of such a thing. He felt this was the delusion of a mental patient, the mental self-gratification of someone with a split personality.

”Hey, Liao, snap out of it! We’re drinking tea here, not high-proof white spirit,” Du Heng had to interrupt Liao Quansheng, who was getting carried away by his own excitement. He genuinely felt Liao Quansheng wasn’t mentally sound at that moment.

But Liao Quansheng paid him no mind. He seemed oblivious to the fact that, in Du Heng’s eyes, he’d become a mental patient. He was completely lost in his imagined world, where events unfolded precisely according to the script he’d concocted.

Liao Quansheng looked at Du Heng excitedly. ”Du, you have to take the lead on this. You treated Li Qin; she’ll definitely be willing to cooperate with you.”

Liao Quansheng’s intense gaze made Du Heng’s skin crawl, and he couldn’t suppress a shiver. ”Forget it. If you have ideas, contact her yourself. I’m not getting involved.”

With that, Du Heng hurriedly excused himself, fearing that if he stayed any longer, he wouldn’t be able to resist sticking a needle into Liao Quansheng’s Baihui (GV20) acupoint to snap him out of it.

”Brother, don’t rush off! Let’s discuss the details. I think combining the two medicines would make them even more effective.”

Amidst Liao Quansheng’s pleas, Du Heng couldn’t help but quicken his pace. ”Goodbye. Let the professionals handle these things.”

Ignoring Liao Quansheng’s calls from behind, Du Heng walked away without a backward glance.

Back at the Health Clinic, Du Heng had barely sat down when Cui Guanghaia found him.

Cui Guanghaia informed him that the body had been collected, and as far as the Health Clinic was concerned, its involvement in the car accident matter was concluded.

Seeing Cui Guanghaia’s somewhat subdued demeanor, Du Heng was a little surprised.

He had initially assumed Cui Guanghaia might be reluctant to handle the situation and might try to shirk responsibility, so he had braced himself for that. But he truly hadn’t expected it. Cui Guanghaia had managed everything: from cleaning the mortuary and receiving the body to contacting the funeral home and liaising with the family. Most importantly, he hadn’t caused a single problem or allowed any difficult issues to reach Du Heng.

Du Heng suddenly realized that anyone who managed to rise to prominence in any workplace, even if they had connections, definitely possessed commendable, demonstrable skills. Considering today’s events and comparing Cui Guanghaia with Lu Zhongjiang, Du Heng now understood how Cui Guanghaia had managed to sideline the once-powerful Lu Zhongjiang in less than a month. Simply put, Lu Zhongjiang lacked Cui Guanghaia’s leadership and decisiveness. This probably also stemmed from their different work experiences.

However, Du Heng didn’t delve into these thoughts. He listened attentively to Cui Guanghaia’s report, carefully absorbing Cui Guanghaia’s methods and experiences.

After this affair, Du Heng felt that someone like Cui Guanghaia should be utilized properly. If their relationship remained hostile and dismissive, as it had been for the past two weeks, it would be a great loss for the Health Clinic and for himself. Most importantly, within this Health Clinic, Cui Guanghaia couldn’t possibly pose any threat to him.
