Emperor’s Domination

“No, but close.” Both answered.

“Is it that close? I suppose not at all, but there’s a chance.” Right said.

“Yes, just needs a dream and when he wakes up, he’ll become the boss again.” Left said softly.

“Is that why you took away his three souls and started the dream?” Li Qiye smiled.

“It wasn’t me, definitely not me.” Right shook his head.

“Not me, it wasn’t my idea either.” Left said.

“Then who? He extracted his souls and planted it in Sea of Heavenly Sin himself?” Li Qiye asked.

“In the three springs.” The skull corrected.

As Li Qiye stared the twins down, they didn’t dare to utter a word.

“Yes, we extracted the souls but it wasn’t our idea.” Right said.

“Whose idea was it?” Li Qiye asked.

The two stared at the man and said: “The boss’ idea.”

“You two didn’t instigate it?” Li Qiye asked.

“You tell him.” Right nudged Left.

“You.” Left refused.

“Fine, the truth is that his three souls are different, incomplete and artificial, modeled after what he is searching for.” Right had to answer.

“The primordial will.” Li Qiye frowned.

“How do you know this?!” Both shouted.

“No, wait...” Left stared at Li Qiye intensely and said: “You have it.”

“Yes, he does.” Right said before staring at Li Qiye: “You found it.”

“Where are you hiding it?” Left’s gaze intensified.

“If we fuse it into the boss’ body, he’ll come back to life for sure.” Right looked like a willing bandit.

“Oh? Want to rob me now?” Li Qiye said flatly.

The two exchanged glances before shaking their head and answering: “No, you will kill us.”

“Not stupid at all.” Li Qiye smiled.

“The boss wanted to use this to revive but we couldn’t find it. That’s why we resorted to using the imitation instead.” Right said.

“Hah, even if your boss had this toy, he couldn’t have endured it. It’s more than just becoming an immortal, it’s reaching the primordial beginning.” “That’s why he became like that, not the boss anymore, just want to be carefree.” Left muttered.

“It’s a continuation of life, a new self born from parts of him. He’s just truly him, just some memories are there.” Li Qiye said.

“He enjoys wandering in dreams, to see things that had happened, things that have yet to come about.” Right said.

“We told him that if he wanted to experience reality, he can go to Heavenrealm.” Left said.

“With this body of his?” Skull glanced at the man and laughed: “It’s not possible even if you two protect him. You two will nearly die too.”

“That’s why we need to re-create him for a chance. We can do it, right?” Right asked Left.

“Yes, just push him to become a supreme overlord, that should work.” Left said.

“Hahaha, what a fantasy.” The skull laughed.

“So you two planted the three souls into the three springs that they can grow. Next is a fusion to become a primordial will.” Li Qiye said.

“Not our idea, the boss was down because he just wanted to be in good health and carefree. Thus, he took the gamble.” Left said.

“You two wanted him to become immortal, someone who can replace the high heaven. Alas, it took a lot of convincing.” Li Qiye said.

“We only told him what the boss wanted to do in the past, definitely not an idle nobody.” Left said.

“It’s too bad he has zero ambition right now.” Right added.

“He doesn’t want to because, from the start, he isn’t your boss. He has his own life and desires.” Li Qiye said.

Left and Right exchanged glances. Right said reluctantly: “This wasn’t part of our agreement.”

“Because he was not the other party. Your boss is dead, you’re only trying to make a puppet with his memories.” Li Qiye said.

The frank comment stunned the two. They slumped down and couldn’t snap back to reality.

After a long while, both mumbled: “The boss is dead.”

All along, they wanted to believe the person they had resurrected was their boss. Alas, it was only a method employed by him.

“You might as well give up on this idea. You two are immortals and pride yourselves on being able to do incredible feats. However, the creation of life is an arduous process requiring independent maturity. Otherwise, we’re left with a soulless puppet.” Li Qiye shook his head.

“What should we do then? We promised to take him to Heavenrealm.” The two asked.

“Does he want to?” Li Qiye asked.

The two stared at the sleeping man and said: “No.”

If he had said yes, they would try to fuse the three souls again and see the result.

“Then that’s the end of it.” Li Qiye said.

“Took so much effort to come here, are we coming back empty-handed?” Left said softly.

“Can’t drag him back because once you’re there, you will find a corpse next to you and not him.” Li Qiye said.

The two understood this logic.

“Are you going to Heavenrealm?” They asked.

“Yes, but for an unrelated matter.” Li Qiye said.

“About the thing we left behind...” The two pleaded.

“My trip has nothing to do with you two and even less to do with your boss.” Li Qiye smiled.

The two looked dejected and slumped down like punctured balloons, at a loss of what to do.

“Regardless of anything else, bring back his three souls.” Li Qiye told them.

“Impossible.” They answered.
