Emperor’s Domination

“The uncles told me that in Old Ruins, our clan was one of the oldest dao lineages just like Luminous Creek. It was destroyed later and we didn’t fare any better after our ancestors’ disappearance, just barely holding on.” Li Xian said.

“Luminous Creek?” Li Qiye repeated.

“Have you heard of it before? Their progenitors are husband and wife.” Li Xian said.

“Luminous Master and Creek King.” Li Qiye said.

“Yes, so it was founded by the couple. Luminous Master, in particular, was a special cultivator.” Li Xian continued: “One of the most talented progenitors who created an immortal-level dao lineage. It rose to prominence in just a short time.”

“Go on.” Li Qiye siad.

“But it was destroyed later, we don’t know much about it. I was told it was separate from the wars. Not a single survivor was left in just one night.” Li Xian said.

“In just one night.” Li Qiye pondered.

“Rumor has it Supreme Heaven had a hand in this but it doesn’t make sense. Supreme Heaven couldn’t descend for this purpose alone and a war would have started.” Li Xian said: “It’s a mystery, we should have been the first to know since our ancestors were still here. We would have fought too since all lineages in Old Ruins were part of an alliance.” Li Xian said.

“But you didn’t.” Li Qiye said.

“We didn’t know. The moment the ancestors knew about it and arrived, Luminous Creek was already massacred.” Li Xian said.

“Doesn’t sound right.” Li Qiye shook his head since an immortal-level lineage couldn’t have been destroyed discretely.

Moreover, the Li had two powerful progenitors then. As neighbors, they should have noticed.

“Because of this, our ancestors suspected that it wasn’t Supreme Heaven. There was something off about Luminous Master too.” Li Xian said.

“A powerful progenitor would have put up a good fight.” Li Qiye said.

“That’s what our clan thought. The ancestors didn’t find his corpse.” Li Xian said.

“Missing.” Li Qiye’s eyes narrowed.

“I don’t have all the answers since my information is from records and stories. Who knows if he is still alive or not?” Li Xian said.

“A death would have been known.” Li Qiye said.

“I agree with your logic.” Li Xian nodded: “When taking modern cultivation stages into account, he has finished the extinguishment stage. There’s a particular saying in Old Ruins, that no one has inherited the flame of Gao Yang. Emperor Zheng failed and Luminous went mad.”

“I heard of Emperor Zheng’s brilliance, it’s a shame that he died.” Li Qiye said.

“Right, an incredible true emperor with the potential of becoming an overlord, an overlord!” Li Xian said excitedly before looking up at the sky.

A supreme overlord was an unreachable existence for them, capable of blotting out the sky. In fact, an emperor or desolate god was beyond his reach already. If it wasn’t for his clan’s illustrious past, he wouldn’t have been exposed to any of this.

“An overlord.” Li Qiye said sentimentally.

“They’re strong, stronger than anyone can imagine.” Li Xian said: “He could have accepted the flame and become another supreme overlord in Three Immortals. However, during the extinguishment process, a grand tribulation appeared out of nowhere and took him down.”

“Tribulations’ numbers and intensity are not to gauge, it depends on the cultivator.” Li Qiye said.

In Three Immortals, the imperial realm didn’t necessarily invoke a tribulation, perhaps only a minor one. Of course, there were always exceptions.

As for supreme overlords - they were not allowed to exist by the high heaven. However, Three Immortals World was unique and blessed. Thus, only minor tribulations would come most of the time.

Only the most talented would face grand tribulations. Surpassing them meant becoming more powerful with higher potential.

Emperor Zheng was a candidate to become an overlord. Alas, during his most crucial moment during the extinguishment process, a grand tribulation descended and overwhelmed him. Many mourned his untimely death.

“After his death, the most highly regarded candidate was Luminous Master. Thus, the flame was passed down to him so that he could become an overlord in the future.” Li Xian said.

“It didn’t happen.” Li Qiye said.

“Few records explain what happened afterward.” Li Xian said: “Just that he went mad. Our own records didn’t say anything like this.”

“Strange indeed, worthy of some research.” Li Qiye stroked his chin.

“But Luminous Creek is no more, the land was destroyed too. It’s abandoned now.” Li Xian said.

“Sure.” Li Qiye nodded before looking at Xuansu’s tablet: “Why did your ancestors disappear?”
