Beast Taming Clan: I Have a Jade Book

Chapter 1504: Chapter 1082: Old Cold Flood Dragon

Turbulent seawater whipped up massive waves across the ocean surface.

Ye Xuecang couldn’t help but look back, only to see the distant tide swelling to a staggering height of hundreds of feet.

It was as if the entire world was submerged in the sea, with a series of black mountain peaks faintly visible amid the churning waters. Occasionally, they broke through the surface like Divine Mountains standing tall at the end of the world.

Seeing this, Ye Xuecang immediately knew that those black peaks were actually the dorsal fins of massive Primordial Sharks.

These Primordial Sharks were innate Water-controlling Spirit Beasts endowed with boundless strength and formidable Sea Control abilities; previously, the Ye Family had intended to subjugate all of them. Although these Primordial Sharks were inferior to the Chenjing, they could still provide immense support to the Ye Family clansmen who practiced Water Attribute Cultivation Techniques.

This was especially true for Ye Yunxi. As a clansman with a Water Attribute Celestial Spirit Root, if she could inherit a Primordial Shark in the future—even if it wasn’t a Demon Emperor yet—it could significantly boost her Cultivation speed. This would also allow her to break through to the Nascent Soul stage much faster. With roughly two hundred and thirty years left before entering the Earth Immortal Realm, Ye Yunxi still stood a very high chance of achieving this.

Of course, for Ye Xuecang right now, his sole priority was to survive and wait for Ye Jingcheng’s reinforcements. He steered the Profound Light Ship toward another direction in the distance.

Over there lay a Spirit Island.

Even though it was barren, it boasted a Spirit Mountain over two thousand feet tall. With this Spirit Mountain as a shield, Ye Xuecang wouldn’t have to face the full brunt of the ocean waves. Moreover, he could use the geographical advantage to set up Arrays.

Although he hadn’t spotted the Primordial Shark Demon Emperor, he knew for a fact that it was present. Otherwise, the towering waves would never have been able to catch up to the speed of the Profound Light Ship.

Soon, he landed on the Spirit Mountain. Thousands of Array Banners swiftly flew out from his sleeves and were deployed all around him. In addition to the Array Discs and Array Banners, Ye Xuecang released a massive amount of Spirit Stones to compensate for the insufficient Spirit Veins.

By the time he finished, the distant waves were only hundreds of feet away, rumbling like thunder in an endless, world-shaking roar.

Seeing this, Ye Xuecang took out the Sword Nurturing Bottle and instantly unleashed the River Breath sword strike. Among his four swords, River Breath barely qualified as a Water Attribute Swordsmanship; its dense Sword Light poured down like an overflowing Sword River.

Just when Ye Xuecang thought he had bought himself a moment of respite to finish setting up the Arrays, a massive, pitch-black shark tail smashed down with a deafening boom.

BOOM.

The Sword Light instantly shattered, failing to withstand the blow for even a single breath. The gap between the Golden Core and Nascent Soul stages was simply too vast. Even with the empowerment of Divine Techniques and his Lifebound Magical Treasure, it was utterly impossible to bridge the difference.

Ye Xuecang hurriedly released a pitch-black coffin. Accompanied by the chiming of a Bell, the coffin lid flew off, and a Corpse Emperor charged out, lunging straight toward the Primordial Shark Demon Emperor.

Although the Corpse Emperor was prone to turning on its master, it was entirely fearless when faced with fresh flesh and blood. However, before the Corpse Emperor could even get close, a massive black Spiritual Hand emerged from underwater and seized it.

This Spiritual Hand was clearly manifested from a Spirit Shadow—a Divine Technique of the Primordial Shark Emperor.

Caught by this Spirit Water, no matter how much strength the Corpse Emperor mustered or how much Corpse Poison it released to corrode its restraints, it was all in vain. The Spirit Water forming the black hand was clearly no ordinary substance; the black Spiritual Hand twisted endlessly but simply would not break.

The Primordial Shark Demon Emperor and over a dozen Primordial Sharks all surfaced on the ocean, exuding an overwhelming sense of oppression. The Tier Four Primordial Sharks were seven to eight hundred feet in size, while the Tier Five Primordial Shark spanned a staggering sixteen to seventeen hundred feet, looking like a small island.

Its shark eyes, in particular, were filled with an icy indifference. Its pupils flashed once more, and another giant black hand materialized in the sea, re-trapping the Corpse Emperor just as it was about to break free.

A massive tsunami also surged toward the island, threatening to swallow it whole. Fortunately, at that exact moment, Ye Xuecang’s Array finally took form.

BOOM!

The sky-blotting tsunami crashed against the Spirit Shield. Even an Array capable of withstanding the full-force strike of a Tier Four Peak Cultivator began to spiderweb with countless cracks, looking as though it would shatter at any moment.

The Spirit Shield violently shuddered, and the Spirit Mountain quaked with deafening rumbles, on the verge of total collapse. Ye Xuecang even felt as if the entire island had been pushed out of its original position by the impact.

His Array had indeed provided protection, but the force was so overwhelming that the island’s foundation could no longer bear the strain and was about to cave in.

Over a dozen Primordial Sharks simultaneously brought down their massive tails.

BOOM!

Even though Ye Xuecang threw out another large batch of Array Banners and unleashed all four of his Lifebound Magical Treasure swords—while simultaneously releasing the Soul-devouring Insect Demon King, a Tier Four Spirit Puppet, and the Tier Four Top-Grade Magical Treasure, the Golden Tower—he was hopelessly outnumbered.

Among these Primordial Sharks, five were at Tier Four: two at the Late Stage of Fourth Tier, one at the Mid-stage Fourth Tier, and two at the Early Stage of Fourth Tier. The remaining six were all at the Tier Three Peak. Worse still, another tsunami was already hurtling down at him.

Seeing this, Ye Xuecang was ready to give up. He rapidly formed Spirit Techniques with his hands, preparing to execute the Soul Guardian Blood Escape.

However, just as he was about to activate it, a sudden flash of cold light descended upon the surroundings. Countless streaks of biting, freezing light enveloped the area, and within moments, all the seawater froze into Ice Crystals. The trapped Primordial Sharks panicked, and even the Primordial Shark Demon Emperor let out an angry roar.

“Old Cold Flood Dragon, what are you doing here?!” the Primordial Shark Demon Emperor bellowed furiously. It seemed to have a deep-seated grudge against the Cold Flood Dragon.

However, it quickly realized that this was not the Old Cold Flood Dragon. It was a different Cold Flood Dragon.

Naturally, the anger on its face receded, only to be replaced by a look of fear. Although this Cold Flood Dragon only had a single horn, it was already beginning to fork, and there was an additional fleshy lump on its head—a clear sign that it was evolving double horns. Furthermore, this Cold Flood Dragon’s claws were far superior to those of the Old Cold Flood Dragon.

“Do you hold a deep grudge against that Old Cold Flood Dragon?” a voice suddenly descended.

This time, the Primordial Shark Demon Emperor was even more terrified. It abruptly realized that, at some unknown point, it had been drawn into a bizarre chessboard. Floating above the chessboard was the figure of a Cultivator clad in a white Daoist Robe, looking down at it from on high.

This sparked a flash of anger within the beast. After all, it was a dignified Demon Emperor. Usually, it was the one looking down on Cultivators; no Cultivator ever dared to look down on it.

But in this moment, it didn’t dare to show its displeasure. The Corpse Emperor, the Cold Flood Dragon, and this Cultivator added up to three Nascent Soul Combat Powers. Most importantly, now that it was trapped within the chessboard, its ability to utilize the seawater was drastically reduced. Fear had already begun to set in.

“That Cold Flood Dragon and I are good friends. It is a Great Demon Emperor of the Demon Race,” the Primordial Shark Demon Emperor said as one of its scales detached and vanished into Spiritual Light. “If we weren’t close, how would I dare to call it the ‘Old Cold Flood Dragon’ so casually?”

The Primordial Shark Demon Emperor struggled to raise its head to surpass Ye Jingcheng’s height. However, the power of the Chessboard Bead was far more than just a simple chessboard; a crushing pressure bore down on the beast, preventing it from succeeding.

“Oh? Is that so?” Ye Jingcheng replied noncommittally. “Then I cannot let you live.”

He brought out his Spirit Treasure, the Holy Spirit Tower. This was one of Ye Jingcheng’s most powerful Spirit Treasures. Although he had other means to deal with the Primordial Shark Demon Emperor, facing a Demon Emperor that was still willfully blind to reality made him feel that the chances of subjugating it were very high.

There was no shortage of Demon Kings who were overly confident in resisting a Blood Contract, let alone a Demon Emperor. However, the prerequisite for tricking the beast into agreeing to the Blood Contract was to strike it with such a devastating blow that it would be utterly shocked into submission.
