Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

Chapter 993: Chapter 997: Does It Still Hurt, Sis?

”Kid, what are you standing there for? We’re about to eat, and you’re not welcome here.” Beitang Yao finished speaking, casting a harsh glance at Mario, then lightly glanced at Xia Qingqian.

”Sis, don’t send Mario away. Mario will behave and not argue with brother.” Mario was anxious, feeling Xia Qianqian’s hand distinctly avoiding him. He quickly held onto it tightly and promised.

”Young Master, the girl is right, Mario is just a child, and he’s been playing here regularly before without any objection from you. What’s wrong now?” Uncle Quan tried to ease the situation.

Beitang Yao’s steps halted. He slowly turned around, his face darkened, and reprimanded in a low voice, ”Uncle Quan, do you think the same?”

”Young Master, Mario is a sweet little spirit. He just likes the girl, there’s nothing wrong with that, but from Uncle Quan’s perspective, Young Master is indeed being a bit excessive, yelling at a child.” Uncle Quan shook his head, then slightly bent down, tweaking Mario’s nose and squinting his eyes, saying: ”Little one, Grandpa scolded the Young Master. Don’t be afraid, Grandpa’s got your back.”

Mario rushed out and hugged Uncle Quan as a gesture of gratitude, secretly wiping his tears on Uncle Quan’s clothes.

”Grandpa is the best!” Mario exclaimed, then hugged Xia Qingqian, raised his little head, and softly asked, ”Sis, does it still hurt there?”

As Xia Qingqian lifted her eyes, she unintentionally glimpsed the cold reflection in Beitang Yao’s eyes, shuddering instantly. Then she hurriedly bowed her head, smiling at Mario, ”Sis is okay, come on, baby, let’s eat first.” Xia Qingqian pulled Mario along, walked over to the lady, and gave her a gentle smile, ”Madame, if you have anything to attend to, go ahead, I will help take care of the baby.”

The lady still felt uneasy because the fury from Beitang Yao had not yet dissipated, and she was still a bit apprehensive.

”Is this okay? Mr. Beitang, he...” the lady said, conflicted.

”Young Master isn’t so petty. He’s just messing around. I’ll take good care of Mario, don’t worry. Besides, Maria is here too.” Xia Qingqian gave her a reassuring smile to ease her concerns and then said to Mario, ”Say goodbye to mommy.”

Mario obediently waved to the lady, then took Xia Qingqian’s hand and walked towards the dining room, gentlemanly pulling out a chair for Xia Qingqian. Seeing her sit down, he was satisfied before sitting down himself in the chair next to her.

Throughout the process, Mario virtually ignored Beitang Yao, his eyes fixated on Xia Qingqian as if gazing at a treasure, wishing to keep it for his own admiration.

”Thank you, sister.” Mario, holding a knife and fork, watched as Xia Qingqian laid the napkin on his lap. His heart warmed, and he flashed a charming smile with his little tiger teeth.

Xia Qingqian reached out to stroke his soft hair and smiled, ”Baby should eat more to be strong and healthy.”

”Mm-hmm! From now on, I must eat lots. I want to grow up quickly to protect sis and not let anyone bully her.” After finishing these words, Mario deliberately glanced at Beitang Yao sitting across from him, the ’anyone’ he mentioned seemingly referring to Beitang Yao himself, and the remark was intentionally aimed at Beitang Yao.
