One-Eyed Monster

The clown performer spoke in great detail, evidently well-informed about the history of the circus. However, during this listening process, Igor also noticed that the clown performer only spoke about the early history of the circus. The history about breaking the boundaries between Adventurers with Class and Non-Adventurers was not mentioned.

This made Igor feel that the narrator before him might be the clown performer himself, the one they needed to rescue.

From this clown performer’s account, Igor heard some information regarding Lord Bern.

Lord Bern’s original name was Bruce Augustus Byrne. He was a nobleman, and it is said that his wealth could buy an entire city...

Lord Bern’s family runs a massive industry, covering various fields. Whether it’s entertainment, literature, or gambling, Lord Bern is involved, and his biggest industry is still real estate. It is said that many palaces were constructed by his family, including the Twin Star Grand Hall of Luona, which was built single-handedly by his family. This made Lord Bern’s real estate spread throughout the empire, with one-fourth of the entire Kayne Empire being properties managed by his family.

Lord Bern also has his own Gold Room and private guard, living a life as lavish as a king.

Some even say that Bern’s wealth can rival the empire’s treasury. Of course, those who say such things are business association members and administrative office officials who have interacted with Lord Bern. To ordinary people, Lord Bern is just an average-sized noble.

Although Lord Bern is very wealthy, he is ultimately just a Non-professional in a world where strength is revered, and his status is not as high as that of a traditional class family. In the eyes of Fighters and Hunters, Lord Bern’s family is just a moving money bag.

It seemed that investing in a circus was an impromptu decision for Lord Bern; he enjoyed watching circuses and various strange things.

One day, he saw a device made by a dwarf in a circus performance and immediately became interested, buying the entire circus to have it daily fiddle with that dwarf’s device. He even considered buying the dwarf...

However, the world where strength is revered taught him that gold coins are not all-powerful. Some Adventurers with Class scoffed at his gold coins, so he realized that his gold coins could not buy him a dwarf, nor could they buy him some Mountain Monsters...

Nonetheless, the circus offered him a novel idea...

These circus performers aren’t Adventurers with Class, yet they can gather all sorts of curious things from this world, which itself is a miracle.

To acquire more curious things, Lord Bern decided to buy more circuses.

His wealth may not be comparable to the empire’s treasury, but buying a few circuses was well within his means.

So whether it was the Sun Circus or the Blue Sky Circus, they all had Lord Bern’s sponsorship. It can be said that any circus with a bit of scale has Lord Bern’s sponsorship, and the Star Circus is no exception.

Every horse in the circus might have been sponsored by Lord Bern, every tent possibly bought with Lord Bern’s gold coins...

So the people in the circus all held feelings of gratitude towards Lord Bern.

Because Lord Bern’s gold coins allowed them to focus more on performing without worrying about their next meal and motivated them further to collect curious things.

…

”So that’s how it is!” Igor suddenly understood, and now he could see why the troupe master was so in awe of Lord Bern.

”Heh heh heh heh...” Suddenly, the clown performer let out a smug laugh, a laugh Igor and Kadi had heard before — it was the laugh of Brava when his face was painted with colorful oils.

Could it be that Brava had occupied this clown performer again?

”Lord Bern’s grace is far more than this. When we obtained the power to transcend the boundaries between Adventurers with Class and Non-Adventurers, Lord Bern’s sponsorship increased many times...”

When the clown performer said this, Igor had already confirmed that Brava had taken over this person’s body, or perhaps Brava’s nature had resurfaced.

However, this Brava seemed not to have any intention of hiding information about Lord Bern and continued speaking about actions taken after gaining power to transcend Adventurers with Class and Non-Adventurers.

”Lord Bern highly values our acquired power; he even hired many Adventurers with Class for us, although they are low-ranked Adventurers with Class; why would High Rank Adventurers with Class care about gold coins?”

Igor listened intently, wanting to know why Lord Bern had hired so many low-ranked professionals to the circus.

”These are our first batch of experiment materials!”

Hearing the word materials made Igor feel nauseated. Those low-ranked Adventurers with Class were turned into materials in their eyes!

”With that transcendence power, we experimented endlessly on these low-ranked Adventurers with Class and finally found a method to master that power. With this method, our entire circus can become elite, and those once-high-and-mighty Adventurers with Class will no longer be our match! Heh heh heh, ha ha ha!”

Igor listened in a daze, clearly realizing that Brava had completely taken over the clown performer’s body.

”Lord Bern is very interested in our power, and we will repay him well!”

”Turning him into one of yours?” Igor suddenly interrupted Brava, clearly not interested in this part of the history.

”Turn him into one of ours, what a joke. How could Lord Bern be one of us; he is our commander after all. Even if he is a Non-professional, he is still an excellent leader transcending many Adventurers with Class. The circus’s growth is inseparable from Lord Bern, but Lord Bern single-handedly created the circus!”

”And the clown, isn’t that legendary clown just a puppet-like figure too!”

”Of course not! Master Clown is also a leader; Lord Bern is the commander, he created Master Clown to lead the circus forward!”

”And who are you, aren’t you the clown!” Igor continued probing; he felt the Brava before him had forgotten himself, would say anything, and although he didn’t know what was happening, obtaining more information was definitely not a bad thing!

”Me? Heh heh heh, ha ha ha, I am Brava, I am Brava!”

Igor could feel the excitement in Brava’s tone, seeming very satisfied with his current state.
